First Snow of the Season - Making a Fire

It’s getting colder, and just recently we had the first snowfall this season. I head out to Vesterålen and hike to a small lake where I make a campfire. The lake was completely frozen, but the river was still open and I could spot trout swimming around.

Thanks! 😊🙏🏻 Yeah, not much that can beat the sound of crunchy snow and a fire. 😄 Correct! That's a Klättermusen Allgrön 2.0. I've been curious about their gear for quite some time now, so I look forward to using it. Do you have any experience with them?

@@KristianPletten I'm not sure if there is something wrong with me, but i can stare into a fire for hours. It is just so damn nice to see the flame moves, the sounds and feel the heat in your face. And do some knive work at the same time 🙈No, i have no experience with them yet, I bought a pants from them some years ago, but it was to short for me. Had to return it, but i have had my eye out for their jackets some time. But i have also get my eyes up for the new HellyHansen line. Looks good as well. Time to try something new, not "just" Bergans and Norrøna

To their defense I bought the short version (did all the measurements, but it was a lot shorter than expected). Might get the regular version. Should have been regular and long if you ask me, like Fjällräven.

Nice video mate! I’m also looking to get the Allgrön 2.0 jacket, is it still holding up nicely? Any (unexpected) cons to the jacket?

Thank you! Yes, it's still holding up nicely. It needs to be washed and waterproofed regularly as all other shell garments to keep its beading and breathing capabilities. But the seems still look fine. At first I wasn't too happy with the cords instead of velcro on the cuffs and so on, but they seem to last longer than velcro. No unexpected cons so far, but I've yet to be satisfied with shell garments over a long period of time, so we'll see.

@@mo-kq8ko Thank you! No, I have the jacket in a medium, which is my regular size, and it had room for layers underneath (wool shirt + a sweater or a thin down jacket). The large down jacket I either pull over the Allgrön or use without the Allgrön.

@@mo-kq8ko So far so good! No issues. But from my experience (no matter the brand or technology) hard shell membrane jackets don't last as long as I wish they had, at least considering their price tag. So while I do enjoy the cut and features on this jacket, I don't believe it's revolutionary in terms of waterproofing and longevity compared to other similarly priced hard shell jackets.
