Congratulations, Dave! No one told me about the "tail feathers tradition" when my solo flight came... Of all days, I wore a dress shirt for an appointment immediately after the lesson. SMH, thank God for sports jackets! ...it was a bit drafty though.

Great advice about how it will handle when you get out. I remember my instructor not saying a word about that and my first solo was scary, I had to force it on the runway. It all worked out at the end. Great job in getting your own troop of ultralite fighters in your area there Matt. LOL Oh, and congrats Dave!!!

Very well done Dave.....you nailed all three. Now just be sure that you don't get over-confident! E.G. ...what my instructor didn't tell me: landing on an uphill slope the ground comes up to meet you. Result …... firm landing! Downhill - you float for ever.

Great video as always. As you are presently equipped, are you allowed to land at a towered airport? What's the largest airport you are permitted to land at?

With the planes as they are now, we can land at towered airports if we call ahead and they give us permission but typically they don't allow us to (except in case of emergency) because we don't have transponders on board.

I’d like to fly one but even though I worked on heavy aircraft most of my life I’m not crazy enough to climb into one without training and there are no schools close to podunk TN where I live.

Since I am constantly in your REPORTS-VIDEOS, - I counted THREE STUDENTS OF YOUR SCHOOL MAKING SOLO: the first was the guy who intended become a MILITARY PILOT, then VICTORIA, and now this one ... .... once again - MY sincere CONGRATULATIONS !!!
