Welcome to the rabbit hole of spinning! And welcome to the hypnotic relaxation of a softly whirring spinning wheel, the rhythmic action of drafting fibre, its softness beneath your fingers providing comfort while you see the bobbin fill up. I started spinning a year ago and within three months I knew my spindles weren’t enough. I bought the small version of the spinning wheel you have (the Nano2) and this Summer I bought its bigger sibling. I’ve processed a raw sheep’s fleece and am now working myself through a raw alpaca fleece, pacing myself consciously because I don’t have a lot of room. Spinning is the perfect way to wind down. Can’t sleep? Spin for a bit. Anxious? Spin for a bit. Just don’t spin while angry… unless you want art yarn that goes everywhere and is absolutely crazy. And working up your own handspun yarn is fabulous. Soon you’ll be customising your spins for specific projects and it’ll be such a kick! Spin happy!

I have the 6.0. and I love spinning. It's so relaxing. Enjoy the new rabbit hole.

Omgosh! That spinning looks like so much fun! It probably wouldn't be too cost effective for me though because I really have been into working with fingering weight yarn and knitting socks lately. I get distracted and drawn to many different crafts too so I've been trying to curb that habit so I can get more projects actually finished. I love your creative adventures, Kayla. You are so much fun to hang out and stitch with! ✌️💜🧶🎃

I've only just recently taken an interest in spinning. I've been shopping around for drop spindles, and while I'm not quite ready to jump down that rabbit hole just yet, I think that moment is coming. It'll be some time before I decide if spinning is for me, with many baby steps along the way, but your experimentation with this new electric spinner is still inspiring to me. Wishing you a good night of sleep soon. Insomnia is awful. 🧡

So cool!!! I can't wait to see it worked up! I hate having racing thoughts and anxiety at night, I think we're just excited for the change of seasons and all of the things we want to do, we get overwhelmed, and we can't sleep. I hope you have a better night tonight , with some restful thoughts and a good nights sleep. Sending you a big hug! 💜

I ordered an e-spinner from the yarn truck this morning because of you. I have mostly done drop spindle and was looking for an affordable e-spinner. Anyway you should check out Boss Kitty's Floof which is BFL which is great for beginners. And Super Floof is a dreamy blend of merino and silk.

Agree BFL is a good fiber to start on.

Congrats on the new e-spinner! I’m loving it so much more than drop spindle right now. You’re so right the BFL has been easy to work with🎃

Don’t use all 6! Fill 2 then you can use a third to ply onto it. 🤔 Or you could do a chain ⛓️💥 ply and then you would only need two bobbins! 🧵
@raesyarnaddiction3 ай бұрын
Also Ply Guild app has tons of awesome teachers and EVERYTHING you need to know about spinning. But it’s totally fun to just play around and figure it out yourself!

Kayla the Vampire Knitting Club has a spin-off in Cornwall! Agnes and Sylvia move down there and Lucy’s bestie is running that knitting shop. There’s a coffee shop around the corner, raven familiars and Cornish pirates. There’s only the first one out right now but the second is coming before the end of the year.

This totally has to be a sign! I got an old fashioned spinning wheel for christmas last year, and I have been on the struggle bus to hell with the damn thing. Every problem I manage to solve only uncovers another thing I've been doing wrong or didn't set up right, stopping me from getting it to work correctly. I've threatened multiple times recently to just sell the thing for an electric one, and seeing you do pretty freakin amazing on your first tries? I'm pretty much convinced! 😅
@AltKnots3 ай бұрын
I totally get that struggle! Felt the same way with drop spindle and never was able to fully get into the swing of it. This little machine has been much easier to get into. Just waiting on some of my fiber to show up so I can spin even more.🎃

I have the mini version of that e spinner and it was a great beginner one. A little bit of trouble shooting with the tension and stuff, but super affordable and fun! Love that you're loving starting spinning as a new craft. It always feels so magical to me to spin, like I'm pulling yarn out of thin air lol!

I love your espinner! Honestly iv always made mynown roving using yarn scraps and 2 clean dog brushes from dollar tree. Cant get myself to use my hand spun yarn yet. I had a drop spindle but it was stolen so iv made one using a pencil, dense Foam, a paperclip, and ductape and shes held up and its been 4 years! 😂😂 been lathargic all day. Lazy day for me! ❤

Kayla I would Recommend Joining Shave them to Save them where you buy wool from Rare Sheep Breeds and help keep them around. I am looking at getting another Spinning Wheel, I do have my own Antique one, but I would like a modern one, right now I am in between Kromski Minstrel and Kromski Sonata. There is a reason why I attend Fiber Fest is to Stock up on some Roving and all supplies the Next one that I will be attending and it's the one I volunteer is the Minnesota Fiber Festival October 19 9 am-5pm Isanti County Fairgounds Cambridge MN.

I got a Sonata this year, it's a great travel wheel! I have a strange issue with my treadles where it needs silicone spray to not squeal for some reason, but otherwise it's a been great. Setup/takedown is super fast. The option for double drive on the Minstrel might be nice. Both wheels are pretty spendy, it'd be real nice to find one second hand
