Sorry for the low quality, this video was made from Instagram stories and recorded footage.
This is the first start and run under its own power of my 1958 Dodge Power Wagon W300M 4x4 pickup truck. This engine was machined and (un)professionally rebuilt. This is her first time running off her fuel tank!!
Check out Parts & Restoration on instagram!! ‪@partsandresto‬

FLATHEADS RULE!, Overheads drool. Great milestone in this restoration adventure Dave. (Oil leakage is normal on rebuilt motors in my experience too!) Doooh!

Gosh! That's a GOOD sound - nothing beats a straight 6 - and no nasty clunking noises... I call that a result, Dave (you can fix a bit of oil!)

What about the straight 8? 😁 No, but really straight 6 is one of the best engine configurations that exists.

Sounds great. Good old bulletproof flathead six. Durable and dependable, if not overwhelmingly powerful. Good torque, though.

I really want to restore a car. This kind of video inspires me. Not sure what kind of car or how I can pay for it, but it looks exciting. And probably a TON of hard work and failures to reach the finish line.

Dude, it’s tough. Best advise I can give is this. Get something pre 60s or as early as you can. They’re shit simple. I’m NOT a mechanic by trade. Just fumbling through and learning on Facebook forums and KZbin. Spend as much money as you can afford on something complete and if possible running

Congrats I fired up my PW engine for the first time last Saturday and she fired right up today I blocked the truck up on stands and actually put the old BAD radiator on it so I could run it for a bit, she fired right up and I got the timing set then ran her through the gears ran the 4 wheel drive both hi-lo in the transfer case and all appears to be ready to get the cab and bed put on next week although tomorrow the brakes will be filled with fluid and bled!

It's a really good idea to NEVER leave a spanner wrench on your battery like that. It's an inch away from causing an arc weld and then you could lose all that hard work. Plenty of folks have learned that the hard way.

So smooth running, reminds me of a Rolls Royce engine, with a glass of champagne, on the top, with out spilling a drop to show off the balance or the cylinders or something. I even like the colour scheme. Great work, just need more Pirate talk practice. Love from Scotland 5* :D

That wrench on top of the battery is not really going to help you as close as it is to the pos.+ and the neg- terminals . I used to do this until I learned the hard way.
