That's confusing. Why both channels?! It's possible to change the name of a KZbin channel. Maybe change the name of this one to 'Turnin' Rust Restored'? Ought to be a way to move all the videos from one channel to the other.

This story sure brought back memories, about 60 years ago, my buddy's father brought one home, a little better condition, looked new compared to yours. His father always tinkered with "odd" cars. It brought back memories of some very happy days. Love the channel.

I have said it before and I’ll say it again. The two reasons that I enjoy your channel is because of the content you all produce. The other is the amount of love and respect you all have for each other. That alone makes your Dad one of the richest men on the planet. For a son and daughter to have the level of love and respect is every dads dream. I’m not a deeply religious person but I am very spiritual. I do believe God put you all on this earth to show the rest of the world what it means to be a family. Thank you all for another great video. Bless You All ❤️🙏

I was born in 1947. In Belgium. I was 18 in 1965. At 60 Km/h a BRAND NEW BMW Isetta scared the bejeezis out of me in the pourng rain on cobblestones with tramway rails in short curves ... They did last forever, though.

I’m new here. My father bought a BMW Isetta new in the late 50’s / 60’s here in the UK when he was dating my mum. Some of the Isetta’s were 3 and 4 wheeled. While I worked for BMW in London in the 90’s I was fortunate to drive a customers Isetta, it was kinda scary but fun driving at 40 plus mph!

It was pretty cool seeing the isetta rescued. Be careful running an unserviced motor. They don't have an oil filter. There is a slinger on the end of the crankshaft. If it fills up with crud it will just overflow crud. A lot of them grenade after about 12,000 miles because nobody ever cleans the slinger. Also, be careful driving with the old rubber donuts on the shaft between the chaincase and the transmission. If that old rubber fails at 45mph it will wreck the transmission cover (very expensive part now days compared to replacing the rubber donuts). I have 5 complete cars plus a couple of spare bodies and enough spare parts to build another car out in my barn. My car I drove most of the time would get to 55mph.

Hi ! As far as I recall the engine is derived from the BMW R25 250cc motorbike engine with a Bing carburator. The 300 Version is just a slightly enlarged version. It is a single cylinder OHV engine - quite solid for its time. They added the dynastart and the fan aircooling to it. The original Isetta engine when it was built by ISO in Italy was an inferiour 2-stroke that tends to suffer on stuck pistons frequently. The engine has around 13 hp and a non-synchronized 4-speed gearbox *with* reverse gear. Which wasn't standard on microcars / bubblecars back then. It has a 12V system. And the Isetta has been produced with over 160.000 units between 1955 and 1962. Thanks for sharing !
@coopersmith59462 жыл бұрын
I've noticed with two of the videos I've watched soo far on your channel is that you give the oil a quick check, but you don't change it before running the engine. I've learned the hard way not to do this. Ended up with spun bearings in a Farmall H. Anymore I always change the oil before I even start em. Oils cheaper than needing a full overhaul. That's my only thing I gotta add. Do love what you are doing and wish you guys best of luck with all the cool stuff you find.

Interesting video! I think that you guys should soup it up a bit, maybe re- gear all the speeds, so that 4th gear will get you to about 60-65 on the road, just for a cushion of speed if needed !, as a kid, the neighbor across the street came home with an isetta, lower body was red, upper body/top was white, and my dad flipped out ( in a good way) saying he had never seen anything so strange !, neighbors took me for a ride, it was like a tiny car-like go-cart ! The seat was red/white checkerboard with a vinyl piping dividing the backrest part of the seat from the lower part, the upper part of backrest was white vinyl, hopefully I described it without much confusion 😀. The top sunroof part had a white vinyl folded section, like VW had on their beetles, you had to manually slide it back and lock it in place, sealed fairly well if it was raining! Have fun fixing it up!
