I can appreciate how you timed the drop with the first start! 😁 Great stuff.

These last few videos pushed me over the edge to try and rebuild the top end on my bike. Have everything assembled and now I just need to put it back in the frame. Hoping it starts just fine lol

Nice! I've seen other engines being fired off by grounding to a stand on the bench, so iguess if you really wanted to pull the engine again it's possible. Awesome work!

I think the blue caps look fine, especially with the blue vent lines on the carb.

Thanks for the input! I think I will revisit them once the graphics are on, there will be other blue components so we will see if it’s too much or not

Today makes day 3 of me simply trying to put my engine in the frame !!! It doesn't matter what I do.... Ntn seems to work. Putting the engine in the frame is turning out to be harder than the engine rebuild. NEED HELP!!!! 😞😞

Ok so per the manual they say to keep remove the ignition coil, take off the valve cover, then install it in a horseshoe motion with the engine turned 90 degrees. Here is a link to the manual. It’s page number 169 www.manualslib.com/manual/808664/Honda-Crf450x-2005.html?page=169#manual

Did Honda have works editions in 2008? They had a black special bike, plus regular red bike.

No I don’t think they did, but that’s kinda why I want to do it! Bring the past into the future! See what it would look like now if it rolled off the line or you saw it at the races!

Running an engine with not even a header isn't good for it. They're tuned to have back pressure, plus you can warp the valves
@nwmotogarageАй бұрын
You are thinking of two strokes not 4 strokes
@nwmotogarageАй бұрын
And can you explain the valve warping thing?
@TheFlyingKiwiNZАй бұрын
@nwmotogarage everything I've read online about it says that all engines, especially performance engines, are tuned with the back pressure of an exhaust pipe to make it run correctly. That's the reason they make power bomb headers for 4 strokes. If that back pressure isn't there, you put unequal stress on the system it wasn't supposed to handle. It probably won't break if you run it for a few seconds, but just wanted to be sure your viewers aren't thinking they can just run it all day looking at the cool flames. The valves can warp because they get very hot, then when you shut it down, the cold outside air can get right in there and cause uneven shock cooling. So you should at always run the engine with at least the header on it to prevent that. Like I said, I'm no expert, just going off the experience of other mechanics who know more than me.
