I recently revived my own '87 Fox, funny to watch you guys go through a lot of the same stuff that I did. In a pinch you can jump the starter solenoid to crank any Ford of this era. When you're replacing the distributor cap and wires, you should remove the sprout connector and bump the timing to 14 Degrees at idle, it wakes the stock cars up a bit, it's probably still at the stock 10 Degrees since nothing else looks like it's been touched. My oldest sister had a brand new 1990 Fox body GT, that was strawberry red with the five speed transmission. We went to Mountain View Ford in Chattanooga Tennessee, and I helped her pick it out. Even though it only had 225 HP and 300 lbs of torque, it was a very fun car to drive. It's hard to believe that we have cars like my Chrysler 300 SRT8 now, and the 2021 Super Stock that I just sold that had over 800 HP. That was a little bit too much for the street, but damn it was amazing how quick you can hit triple digit numbers on the speedometer. My wife said that I was going through a midlife crisis whenever I bought it, but she helped me get over it really quick after she drove it the first and only time. LoL That's okay because there is a RAM TRX that I have my eyes on, I'll have to hide the paperwork from her this time. She'll never want to drive it, because she hates pickup trucks thank goodness. So cool. You are like a mechanical magician. I like how the exhaust even pops like a modern sports car

Crazy how well that ford 302 just keeps going. My brother had over 450k miles on his before he swapped the motor. And not that he needed it, just wanted to put in a crate motor. I am super excited to see where you guys take this thing!

This reminds me of what I just did, I got a 99 camaro that sat without running for over 10 years. We put a new battery, some fuel, and it cranked immediately. It was incredible

When you did the compression test I almost jumped out of my seat before you said it was a wet test haha. I though this thing sat for 30 years and made 12:1 compression 😂

12 to 1 you can't process that from a compression test. That is determined through stoke vs cc.

Im a guy who really doesn’t knows a lot about cars so half of the time I don’t know what they’re talking about but I still like watching the restoration. I work on my dad 2008 Ford mustang GT but all I did is put new tinted tail lights on and the side lights.

The straps on the fuel tank… wow! Around here, those would’ve been completely rotted if not missing and the tank held in place by a ratchet strap!

Normally when I see these "first start after XX years" videos, I want to put my fist through the screen at the sheer ignorance and idiocy on display, like "let's just throw a starter pack on here and give her a good ole' krank, wow, why did the engine destroy itself?" This is done with great care and sympathy towards the car. I love it.

I know I'm a few days late, and I'm glad that you're recovering the foxbody mustang. I still love this body style.

This really brings me back. I've owned an 87, 89, and 93. All GTs. My favorite was the 89. I don't currently have one but I could definitely see myself having another Foxbody in the future.

If it's from the weat, places are a lot more spread out. If it has 143K miles, it's probably a lot of highway miles based on all the wear indicators in the interior.

Those cars don't have the software and super sensitive engine components to glitch and go bad to cause the cost not to function, plus cost you a fortune to repair. I am keeping my old schools they are very dependable and easy to repair.

I knew that ignition switch needed replacement from the first time he tried to start it and said it had a sweet spot. That is a very common failure on 80s-90s Fords. The switch falls apart and causes all kinds of issues. That could be the reason it was parked in the first place.
