I love this project in particular. I was born in 88 and my dad bought an 87 Mustang 5.0 FB when i was little. His was the same color. I was always told it was going to be mine when i got older however, due to some financial issues between my parents he sadly had to sell it. Anytime i see one (which is a little more rare these days) it brings back some serious nostalgia. This car will always hit that warm spot in my heart as it takes me back to an awesome time in my childhood. So glad to see you guys take on this project and loved watching the restoration. Watched your video. Suggestion: when you were doing the interior work, after spraying cleaner on the surfaces of the panels, instruments, etc. use a steamer on them. The dirt and grime will just wipe off without any work at all. I also use the steamer on deeply soiled seats, carpet, etc. , especially if you are trying to get rid of smoke smells. The steamer works to loosen the grime better than just the cleaner alone.

I had an '83 mustang 5.0 notchback with red interior in the 1990s. No rust, but the California sun destroyed the interior. @Metalcop5150

Yeah, Ford didn’t even produce the T-Top cars, or convertibles themselves!! They sent completed cars to a 3rd party, Cars and Concepts in Brighton, Michigan for the conversions!! There are a lot of hidden sins under the roof skins of those T-Top cars?! Rivets, bare steel mending plates etc. I’ve heard them compared to erector set construction!! Lol Clearly something has failed on this particular car, not a factory defect from Ford.

The TFI module has a design temp of 257F. It's mounted in a bad spot for temp and Ford reluctantly had a massive recall. When they get hot they shut off and I suppose the thermal cycling wears them out. I had one on an 84 Escort that died regularly. The article I read suggested moving it to a cooler place or carrying a spare or two. Often the car will run again when it cools off.

Loving this series and your channel, Alex. You and Peter make a great team. I have learned that when cleaning carpet or upholstery it's best to spray your detergent on with a separate sprayer, then run only clean water through the carpet cleaner or upholstery machine to rinse the detergent out of the material. This way, detergent isn't staying in the carpeting or upholstery material and attracting more dirt, since that's what soaps and detergents do. Keep up the good work!

Great video and transformation. Just a suggestion, if you are replacing the clutch I would upgrade the clutch cable and quadrant. The factory plastic quadrant has a tendency to crack and break with age and plastic becoming brittle.

I stand corrected as far as the mileage being once around the clock, but it has held up remarkably well- like, amazingly well! I've been looking forward to this episode, and all your episodes actually. Please don't lose your mojo like many of your YT pals have... It's the basics, the forgotten nuggets I, and I think many of your fans love. Of course we want you to be successful and build the channel, but sadly many lose the origin story... #Keep on keepin' on. J.

Yesssssss!! The part of the mustang resto I’ve been so excited for!! What an incredible before/after 😍 awesome work Alex 🙌🏼 40:08 😂🤣 I love the quick switch up **lightly cleaning with microfiber cloth** “I wanna be gentle around the white letters, the words, don’t want to take those off of there. They’re in great condition” … 3 seconds later **ULTRA SCRUB MODE WITH STIFF BRISTLE INTERIOR DETAIL BRUSH** Exactly my style of cleaning 😂

What a transformation. Looking forward to seeing what gets done next (clutch, hatch, paint, decals). While I'm not necessarily a Ford guy, it is nice to see how well this car has cleaned up and how well it runs after sitting for all those years. Oh, and I like the 'Chevrolet' rear license plate frame..... :) Cheers

Great video, big fan of the channel! Question, I thought you concluded it had 43k miles on the odometer vs. 143k based on the condition of the interior and the original plug wires?

In the 2nd video I mention that I ran a carfax and it had more than 43k miles many years ago.

Honestly, with a car in this shape I'd start with an immediate foam cannon blast and let it soak in. Or even just mix up some soap and water, then apply it to the surface and soak. That debris is quite caked on, so you're going to have to be significantly more aggressive with a pressure washer, which is 1. more work and 2. risks damaging the paint. Let the power of soap work for you, you can even do multiple soak and rinse cycles. Think of it like a really baked-in pan: you can either grab a brush and go to town, or let it soak for a few hours in soap and water...which one is easier and less aggressive? Same thing here. Another thing: foam cannons are meant to be a touch-free step to remove debris via micelles, but they come at the cost of using significantly more soap. So, if all you're going to do is spray on the foam cannon and immediately use your mitts on them, you might as well not even use the foam cannon

It's probably not the clutch welded to the flywheel, I mean it could be, but unlikely. Check the stupid self adjuster that's on the clutch pedal! The teeth rip off of it. I had to replace that thing twice on my mustang, along with several others of friends mustangs.

I always watch your videos while eating breakfast. This is the first time ever in which I had to put the fork down. The sight of that brown water circulating through the Bissel absolutely killed my appetite. I wouldn't drink that water even for $110K !!!

My 1989 (206K miles) exhibited the same paint blemish on the roof after 2 years and Ford repainted all the red paint (2 tone Medium Scarlet/Titanium rocker/effects) for free. And they retro'ed me a $500 cash rebate check (not a coupon) because the dealer kept mine, lol. These came stock with a too tall 2:73 rear end. I was able to order the 3:08 option. A B&M short shifter really improved the shift feel. The seats are still good (I'm heavy)- the fabric wears like iron. I didn't notice if your ash tray door still worked- a rarity). Had to rebuild mine with a spring kit. Could talk all day about my adventures with these. Great video series, thank you.
