Jeff, Ihope you have better results than I did last September. I’m in Massachusetts as well. I killed the weeds with Tenacity, core aerated, Same seed as well as JG starter fert, then top dressed with peat moss with a roller. I have irrigation and got barely any grass. I even skipped the pre-emergent this spring hoping for more germination. I’m left with a huge lawn full of weeds again. Back to the drawing board!

It rained exactly two afternoons here. Not even a lot. Every storm didn’t materialize over my house. The tote has been empty since June.

I'm in the middle of this process myself. I wish i knew about that Andersons weed and feed before now. I did tenacity at the start of summer in a blanket treatment that took care of some of the issues. In the last month I've done 2 blankets of momentum 4-score that has nuked almost everything that isn't grass, it even hurt the common Bermuda creeping in the fescue. Now I'm planning on tenacity with overseed and a spring preemergent.

I surprised this wasn’t mentioned considering how thorough Silver usually is. Tenacity is also a pre emergent that is safe to use before seeding. That new bottle is much better. That syringe it use to come with was kind of a pain in the ass.

I thatched, core aerated, and overseeded Kentucky bluegrass here in Michigan a week ago because I thought that would whip my lawn into shape the best…I do have a bit of a weed problem in probably 1/4 of my 1/2 acre lot. Would this be an advisable plan this fall yet? Bit of a warm spell with the last two weeks still in the 80’s but finally about to see a drop in temps into 60’s this coming week. Been staying diligent with watering. Thanks for anyone with any input

I’m in the process of swapping my Bermuda grass with horse purse lane. It’s so thick and springy and only needs water once a week or so in southern Arizona. It’s insanely drought resistant. You can mow it. And it’s really hardy to being tread on.

Do you recommend Surge solely in the spring, or is a fall application beneficial too?

Surge is essentially T-zone or Speedzone in granular form. Good combination but granular is not nearly as effective as liquid; much more expensive as well. Tenacity is a great pre-emergent when seeding but definitely not the best post-emergent like the products listed above. Just get T-zone and you’re set across the board

No problem glad it helped. Dallisgrass is a perennial too so its defintiely something you want to get rid of. At one time dallisgrass was believed to be a good plant for animals to graze on but ended up being toxic to them. So it isnt really good for anything these days

From my experience Scotts weed and feed granules takes twice as much product as what it says to get only mediocre results. Its only worth it when I get a bag on clearance. Your original lawncare video from years ago along with some special products for southern soils, weeds, and grass was a great source to improve my lawn.

I had an extra bag of Scotts weed & feed. After this super hot summer, half my lawn died off. The rains came back and now my lawn is now nice and green with crabgrass :-( Threw down that bag of Scotts, and all it did was help what grass was there. Going to try the Tenacity route. I love this channel for recommending better products, just can't get this stuff at the big box stores.

Why not use a tow-behind sprayer (Northstar) and blanket spray tenacity along with another broadleaf herbicide like Speedzone? Wish I'd heard of Andersen's weed and feed before so I could've bought that instead. Based on your results, you obviously hit the nail on the head.

Absolutely, I will be overseeding in a few days. There is no effect on seed. Just dont spray on the lawn once the new seed has sprouted, you need to wait 6 weeks after sprouting before spraying again but before that, there is no issue

I love using Tenacity on my lawn In Michigan. Unfortunately, according to the label, Tenacity should not be applied to weeds in St. Augustine grass like we have at our house in Florida.

All weed control products work on certain weeds, fortunately this one bit.ly/3KQ4ci2 works very well on crabgras, glove and about 60 others so this is really the best product for cool season lawns.

Silver, I’m in zone 7b. Backyard is about 1200 sf and a mix of fescue but mostly weeds. Prior owners never took care of it. Thick weeds. I need to seed now. I do like Anderson products. So I van weed and feed with their product and then seed with tall fescue? I’ll get tenacity, but have such a large area of weeds to kill. Thank you for your tutorials. I’m going to take pix along the way and I’ll tag you on IG since I’ll be following your advice. Lawn is half full sun and half moderate to most shade.

i have used 2 applications of week and feed w/surge and it hasn't killed any weeds... used a heavy application both times. applied 36 hours after mowing and watered 12 hours after application.... grass has gotten greener but so have the weeds and none are dying. pretty expensive product for not getting any results... might have to just stick with the tenacity.

This is a great video, this year my yard and weeks went way overboard. I am usually ahead of it each year, but this year I was hurt and had back surgery, so couldn't do my normal yard work like i usually do. So next year, this will really be a game changer. The only other question i have, this year moles showed up in mine and my neighbors' yards in droves, do you have any tips on clearing them or killing grubs and such to get them out? Unfortunately my well pump is 700’ down and we have a softener before any faucets. I hear salt is great for the lawn………not

@@Samlol23_drrich Most of the time, the outside spigots are plumbed around the softener, this isnt just beteter for the lawn, it saves your well chemicals from being depleted. Maybe that is what you have?

@@SilverCymbal definitely not. Its what I should have. The pitiless adapter line runs below the frost line into the side of my foundation. Two feet later in hits the pressure tank and tee, then to a whole house filter and softener. All copper within 5 feet of each other. Then to the rest of the house. I thought of tapping into the line after the tank but before the softener. Then I would need to run it to the 4 outside spigots and cap off the existing lines. Major pain. And my auto top off for my pool ran all summer and used all my salt and clogged my filters. Arrgh.

So, start with the fertilizer with Surge and then move on to the Tenacity to follow up and kill any remaining weeds? Do these products kill those cursed sticker weeds? Those weeds that have the little green, pointy stickers growing on them. We have some of those on the front lawn.

my yard is probably 85% weeds so the surge most likely would be best for me (based on your recommendation) however the seed i bought already has fertilizer. would you recommend using a different product or is it okay to use the surge first before seeding with what i’ve already purchased?

Question the blue dye will that stain anything that it gets on i.e. stone, driveway, harscape, etc? I was just wondering before I started to spray as I have weeds in cracks in the driveway, in some of the stone garden bed and patios and did not want to end up with blue spots where I sprayed. So was just wondering as then I can just avoid those specific areas and just use it in the yard proper.

I sprayed Meso4SC before, using the right concentration and surfactant (Drexel Hum-AC 820 Humectant Surfactant) before, and it didn't do that much in terms of killing clover and crabgrass. I read that Meso4SC is the same as tenacity, so I'm wondering why I didn't get good results? Maybe the surfactant that I used is not the proper one? I'm not sure what to do anymore, as I can't get rid of clover and crabgrass on my lawn. Any ideas?

Hi Silver Cymbal - love the videos and purchased tenacity, Lazer, and surfactant and mixed as directed. The dye did not stick to the lawn at all, just rolled off into droplets. You could not tell where we had sprayed. We've tried twice now and no weeds have died. Could there be something wrong with our surfactant??

I have lots of weeds and will be applying Tenacity. However I have a question regarding Mallow. Cheeseweed Mallow. How do I get rid of it? Cut down and spray or spray on the leaf itself? They're like 3 ft tall!!!

Sadly I sold it before moving. The cut would have been great here but the slopes here would be a disaster for it. The edges are very steep and not friendly to zero turns

In Canada there's no Tenacity, any other alternative?
