Hey only recently found out about this game, multiple KZbinrs have praised this game very highly. Got myself the game and was very overwhelmed, to the point I didn't even know/wanna start a playthrough. Your 'lesson' ( lets call it that, shall we ;) was the first one where it made the game approachable from a learning perspective! They way you structured this tut, not delving into everything that the game throws at you and helping us figure the basic steps first, was SO commendable! Thank you so much, you have a new sub!

Yeah this game is incredibly overwhelming and really really bad at explaining itself. Some of the UI for some game elements are like nonsensical and it's a puzzle to figure out what it's trying to tell you.

Extremely good tutorial that does not overwhelm the viewer. Sticks to the basics and delves into more advanced mechanics at a later point when they become more relevant.

One MASSIVE tip I've learned to help in the earlygame is not to turn in your orders if you don't need the rewards - every point of impatience you get is actually a massive boon because it suppresses the forest's hostility.

Game destroyed me many times before I started to understand what I need to do. It's quite normal, Against The Storm deviates a lot from the norm of gameplay mechanics AND adds in a lot of complex recipes and a draft system. It can be quite overwhelming at first. I guess we all been there =) But once you are past the initial brainfreeze, the game is amazing fun. Cheers and thanks for your kind words o/

Having a blast playing this, it meets a sweet spot where I'm not super great at RTS and not too great at games like factorio. I like the way this kind of says "This is all you get, find a way to work with it" and losses don't feel terrible either.

I just downloaded this game from gamepass and started playing it and to my surprise this game turned out to be a gem. however, it's not very good at explaining what you need to do and these videos have done an incredible job of that for me. Just wanted to say thanks for the hard work on these.

So I've been struggling hard with this game, I love the game, just felt like I was losing to RNG, got my first win in my first game after watching your first two videos. These are great tutorials

Glad I was able to help! RNG doesn't matter as much as one might think in the earlier difficulty levels. Beyond Prestige 10 and upwards RNG does matter more and more though sadly.

@@Ic0nGaming yeah I was mismanaging everything, opening all the safe glades and trying to produce too many things while running out of resources, and i didn't really understand how to get simple tools because i could never craft them. I found the basic building perspective you gave of just wood, bricks, and cloth, along with storing my drafts was a huge game changer If I may ask a quick question, I am in a map that I am confident is going to fail, is it better to keep going and take the loss over time or should I just abandon the settlement and start over?

Yes, no fundamental things were changed that I'd know of. The UI changed a bit. The biggest issue with this series is, that you have no material about the Seals in there. And the Rainpunk Stuff is missing too. I am working on a reboot, but this will still give you the basics about how to tackle this game nevertheless =)

I learned that speed up a bit means you can go to 1.5x instead of 3x like I do constantly... That should help...

My biggest issue with this game is as you unlock more and more buildings you notice what they produce overlaps. I wish they had a slightly better UI to show from building drafts of the 3 things they produce what you can already produce without having to check your Industry tab constantly

Hey, if you hover over the building in the draft menu, it shows either a + for producing a new item, an up arrow for producing at a better efficiency, or a down arrow for producing at a lower efficiency than a building you've already unlocked.

Allright, I'll bite: Do a really challenging one to finish it up. How to Prestige 20 ancient battleground anyone? Would love to also learn how to play late-game better. My people tend to start dying to corruption because 500%+ blightrot can't be fought (takes too long for them to kill the cyst before it kills them). The only thing I've found works, to a point, is overbuilding posts and super heavy micromanagement of everything. Even then, once I get to education or oil... Deaths are unavoidable.

Relly nice video. My only gripe with this game was that the Tutorial is completely useless. I have been gaming for 20 years, played lottsa rpgs and even very simple ones feature tutorials where you gain access to new mechanics gradually. In AtS you get some hints and you get thrown in there without even knowing what your goal is.
