First Styling of a $20 Juniper Bonsai, Subalpine Fir Bonsai & Larch Bonsai

Early spring work. This year I had a lot of trees that were growing out and needed work but I had limited time to wire or do initial stylings. So I did a lot of pruning to prevent the trees from growing out too much. I’m not sure how I feel about the subalpine for bonsai as it looks so jacked up but my hope is that it’ll grow into itself and I’ll find that valence between natural bonsai and tradition form. Love the Hemlock in the background! I have a 6 year old Hemlock I collected from the mountains of western North Carolina about years ago.

Great question. This work was done earlier in the year but as you can see still a little too late as the growth had already started to push for both the larch and juniper. It’s because I have two kids and was hard pressed to do all the repotting and styling in the spring window before they started to grow. 😃👍. Great to push back on this as its not the ideal time
