No but HE sucks completely, without even considering the rest of the team. And basic, fundamental football stuff that starting QBs in the NFL should be able to do. People seem to think that just because other people suck too, it is fine for Eli to just suck endlessly at QB. The Giants have to move on and try to find someone else, and the first step of that is plying Geno to see if he can perform now after 34 starts and a long break, and then to see what Webb can do in live action at the end of the season. This is the only thing the Giants have done right this season, because Eli should never have come out of camp as the starter. And I think Macadoo knew it but was stopped. The Giants have placed HIM in an impossible situation with Eli, made worse by hyper emotional fans. Benching Eli was one more thing the coward Coughlin turned his back to, like he did when Beckham threw weekly tantrums on the sideline and tried to injure people right in front of his nose. He made sure Macadoo would inherit these impossible or extremely difficult problems as a rookie head coach. Thanks, Tommy! The Giants finally did the right thing here, many months too late. Of course it's going to be clumsy and seat-of-your-pants. Most likely they have nothing in Geno and Webb. But now they have five games to get some tape on both of them before the draft. Makes perfect sense to me, because Eli is so obviously done as an NFL QB. Can['t move, can't react to pressure and now can't even throw the ball reliably. And the sack/fumbles. Oh my God, those alone would have gotten other people benched around the league. But not St Eli, oh no! It's apparently part of his charm that he makes winning impossible for the Giants.

But I didn't say that. Wins are a team statistic. But not throwing well is a QB trait, as is lack of mobility. He can't blame anyone else for his groundballs and his timid play. Right now he just is not good enough to be a starter in the NFL, and he has been sliding since before Coughlin left. So the Giants need to move on sooner than later and can not afford to be sentimental. Macadoo is probably not a very good head coach. I thought he was bad even last year when everyone was praising him. Anyone can rack up a few wins on a cupcake schedule with an elite defense. But I think he is right about the decision to bench Eli. I would have wanted to bench him three years ago if I was the head coach of the New York Giants, and I thought not doing so was one of the many acts of complete cowardice by Coughlin before he quit. He's the one who let Macadoo inherit not only this problem but OBJ's rotten discipline, which TC made a spectacle out of pretending not to notice. It's like Medieval kings in a way; when you're new on the throne because the old king has died you have to ingratiate yourself and not appear to be a tyrant, even if it is necessary. If you don't you will get rebellions, assassination attempts and civil war. But your dad could and should have gotten some solid tyranny over with before he died, to make life simpler for you. No one rebels against an old, established king, because he'll be dead soon anyway. Simpler to grin and bear it then. But TC was chicken and as a result Macadoo's regime was doomed from the start. It would have been best if TC was kept on until Manning retired. Then some interim goober for a couple of months whose only job would have been to get Beckham under control, and any other moldering discipline issues, so the next coach wouldn't need to act as animal trainer his first day on the job. Both problems out of the way, new coach and new QB. Fresh start for everyone. That's how you transition. And get rid of Reese while you're at it. I would never accept having sentimentality override my decisions like this if I was Mac, which is why I would have lasted about a week as the head coach of the Giants. Because man are people sentimental about Eli. And he's no damn good. I don't understand how anyone can say otherwise.

This is the best O-line for the Chargers in 10 years (pff says it had been below-average since 2007, and was bottom 5 for a couple of years), the running game has been largely inconsistent since LT left, and he had to deal with undrafted wide receivers for several seasons after Allen got injured. Obviously this produced 4 and 5 win seasons, but they act like Manning has been provided nothing..... are you serious?? They gave him solid defenses, OBJ, Victor Cruz, and reasonable offensive lines until quite recently. Rivers produced 8/9 win years under harsher conditions.

Want to address what this team should do in the up coming draft. DO NOT TAKE A QB WITH THAT TOP THREE PICK IF THAT'S WHERE WE STAY!!! This team needs to trade back to aquire another first rounder or a high 2nd round pick. 3 top 35 picks is what we should be shooting for with all the help that we need up front and in the running game. There's no reason why this team should bail on Webb if he dosent produce when he's thrown into action this season. You give him some pieces in the off season and see if you can make a franchise QB with this kid. Do not just take a QB in the first round with absolutely no foundation set or we will end up like the Cleveland Browns mark my words. Go with Webb for a few years with the full arsenal and in the meantime build the line. If Webb fails then you get your QB with the foundation for that QB to succeed. I never thought I would agree with Kornheiser, but he's right.Davis Webb should be starter. The Giants are 2-10, they are not going anywhere. At some point, Eli was going to eventually be benched. Eli is 36 or 37 years old. He only has about 2 good years left in him. The Giants drafted Davis Webb for a reason. You have to find out can he play and is he the QB of the future.
