He's beat 22 world champions out of 50 fights, he's took the least damage and the most money, he made hall of fame boxers look like amateurs, he is top 10 p4p boxing list, 10-20 years from this date people will realise they were lucky to see a legend like him

SAS won't count this as 50 - 0. But would have counted a loss as 49 - 1. In what world does this make sense?
@MrCapsMan
@MrCapsMan 6 жыл бұрын
Wayne Mazique SAS viewed it as Floyd having 0% chance of losing and 100% chance of winning...so 49-1 was never a possibility.
@waynemazique6556
@waynemazique6556 6 жыл бұрын
MrCapsMan I would have no problem with that argument if SAS didn't give Connor "a punchers chances". Then he praises Connor after the fight as if he actually did well. SAS can't have it both ways. Just another way to take from the GREATS and give to the FAKES.

@BigBoss7777777
@BigBoss7777777 5 жыл бұрын
@@Devine3190 well you're clearly a simpleton with a one dimensional brain that can't think beyond counting numbers. Pacquiao is an offensive fighter relying on speed, age is a much larger factor due to his fighting style. Mayweathers defensive style is far less susceptible to age.

@@BigBoss7777777 honestly it is easier to be an offensive fighter when you get older cuz your reflexes dull over time.Reflex is the first thing to go as you go past your prime. So floyds defense would suffer more than pacs offense.
@grinchoi1
@grinchoi1 4 жыл бұрын
I don't think it was about age. Fighters peak and have their primes at different ages. I think it was about fighting Pacquiao at his boxing peak. Pacquiao wasn't as good of a fighter by the time he had faced him. That being said I think Floyd is easily the greatest boxer of his generation and a toss up for being p4p the greatest ever

Enough with the "carefully selected opponents" nonsense. I'm not the biggest Mayweather fan, but Sugar Ray Leonard said that he wanted the rematch with Duran because he was out of shape. He didn't fight Hagler until the end of his career. Also, Aaron Pryor called him out numerous times and never got the fight. Yet, Sugar Ray is considered one of the best all time. btw, De la hoya waited years before he finally accepted Floyd's challenge. It was good business.

Stephen A Smith brought up a good point. Floyd stopped knocking out people when he moved up in weight because now he was fighting guys who were his size or bigger. But when Pacquiao moved up weights and stopped knocking out fighters people automatically assumed he was on peds earlier! Wtf! Floyd started his career at super featherweight and jumped up to 4 weight class higher. Now Pacquiao started as a FLYWEIGHT! A Flyweight! And moved up to 8 weight classes and won title in all weight classes. It's like Floyd going upto light heavyweight or cruiserweight and winning titles. How can you expect Pacquiao who is naturally a very small guy to knock out guys at light middleweight and welterweight?! Dude's been fighting bigger guys his entire career.

Mayweather played his career so smart. He admitted that he knew when to delay and when to pounce. No one in history would remember it, and probably in the future they would not bring it up, but when Pacman was at his prime, Floyd delayed fighting him. He knew when to delay knowing that Pacman's style of speed and power does not age well as compared to his defensive style of boxing. We respect the record, 50-0, but to those who were really observant at that time, on the things that had happened in the past, we can all agree with Floyd in saying that indeed "He was smart" and He knew when to pounce on Pacquiao just at the right time Money wise and Boxing wise. It took him 5 years to fight Pacquiao but no one would remember that, all we would talk about is how he "schooled" pacquiao when they fought.

He called out Oscar & Mosley when he was younger but couldn't get the fight because he wasn't a draw at the time lol. Funny I don't hear ppl say that about Pacman who fought Oscar, Hatton, & Mosley after Floyd did aka when they were older lol. Why aint Manny fight Canelo? instead of bums like Brandon rios & Chris Algeri lol.

Axel Minani While I disagree, I can't knock your opinion. 3 years of Ali's prime were taken away. I can't imagine the damage he would've done to his opponents, considering he wrecked havoc after his suspension.

No one has brought this up, but go back to the part where they are showing may and mcgreg in the dressing rooms....look at the hand wraps on Floyd vs that of Connors. They are literally twice if not 3 times the size of Connors, also look at how his knuckles protrude so far from his actual hand. Then also notice how fast his hand wraps are gone after the fight before the interviews in the ring. I know hand wraps are going to vary according to the corner men, but geez would it vary that badly? Just thought someone woulda picked up on those small details by now.

Max Kellerman won't let go of that bias HBO agenda even when on ESPN smh. Here the guy just downplays Floyd's accomplisments by saying that Floyd just easily turned on a "low risk, high reward button". It wasn't easy for Mayweather to get where he is at. Everyone loves to forget that before Oscar De La Hoya he was a low reward, high risk fighter. For christ sake there's even video of Shane Mosley saying his teeth hurt when asked about fighting Mayweather, even with a lot of fighters ducking him he still managed to build a pretty solid resume with wins over though guys like Chicanito Hernandez, Angel Manfredy, Jose Luis Castillo x2. Diego Corrales, Chop chop Corley, Gatti. Judah etc. Floyd Mayweather Jr was basically begging for a big fight. He let Oscar De La Hoya pick everything for their fight, from ring size to weight and glove size everything was picked by the Golden Boy himself. Floyd still beat him in a great fight. That's when Floyd became the cash cow and all of sudden everyone and their momma wanted to fight him. Now about the Money Mayweather era, you could say he carefully choose his opponents but still, he beat an undefeated Hatton, went toe to toe with Cotto at Junior Middleweight, gave Canelo his first and only loss and basically just made it look easy against elite fighters like Mosley, Marquez, Pacquiao etc...Floyd Mayweather Jr is an ATG and what Max Kellerman says in this video is pure disrespect to a legend. I wish Stephen would of put him on his place

N.W.A. the opposite is more true. You like mayweather but hate connor and only because he is white doing what Floyd does. They both made a bunch of money and can't hate on them for that. Floyd did make him look like somebody who took a self defense class and thought they could fight.

Am I only the only one who thinks that Max may be a little too smart for Stephen A’s taste? Unlike Skip, Max makes some very good reasonable points and he delivers his speech very well. Stephen A looks like he’s threatened or uncomfortable with how smart Max is. The reason Stephen A shined was because he used to work with Skip and voice of reason. Now Stephen A is no longer that.

Aaaaaand this is why context is important. Max has hated on Floyd for years. That "old" Marquez put Pacquiao to sleep a few years later. Pacquiao couldn't even catch a 40 year old Mosley. Most of you in the comments don't remember the attempted negotiations for any of these fights. You wanted Floyd to lose. He didn't so people get emotional and start making shit up. You can fool these new booties, but I remember all of it. And none of you were around for any of it. You can't act like Floyd was the only one choosing fights. That's how all of boxing has worked since at least the 90s.

In my opinion, Mayweather's Is the greatest of all time. The things he achieved in boxing is nearly impossible to do and no boxer has never came close to do so. And I don't think no boxers will ever achieve what Floyd Achieved, because the game is getting tougher and it takes a lot of disciplines to be like Floyd.

I think people are harsh on him when they say he was selective. First of all it was probably be logistically impossible to fight everyone at their prime, there's too much crossover in career paths. Take the Manny fight, Floyd is older, his style might have aged better but Manny was still beating good fighters like Bradley and Vargas after the Floyd fight. Cotto was with Top Rank and they wouldn't do business with Floyd then, as soon as Cotto got out of Top Rank, the fight happened. Mosley was ranked no.1 at WW at the time Floyd fought him after Mosley destroyed Margarito, many said Floyd wouldn't fight Mosley but he did and stopped him. Victor Ortiz was coming off a win over an undefeated well regarded Berto at the time and was WBC champ. He got Canelo early, maybe, but it was actually Canelo's team who pursued that fight and even wanted it at 152, yet Floyd gets flack for it. And the list goes on really...those were just ones later in Floyd's career.

Floyd is the greatest boxer ever. Perhaps that is what makes him so boring. Fighters just throws calculated punches...Floyd calculated fights. I do hate his style because it was boring but I can't take anything away from a man that is undefeated. He came, he conquer, and he left a champion. He didn't fought anyone, he calculated the defeat of every fighter he met in the boxing arena. He was the world greatest boxer not because power, not because speed, and not because will. He was the greatest because in the heat of battle he was a calm anchor who stuck to the strategy to win. I don't think many can disagree with that.
