Sharing what I spend in a month and everything I bought after my no buy year ended! How much do you spend in a month?
Obviously, this didn't include household bills, food shopping etc as I wanted to show all of the "extras" I bought rather than the essential purchases. If you want me to do what I spend in a week then I would be happy to share that in more of a vlog style!

I am really keen to continue my no buy year in 2020 as a low buy year, and doing this financial breakdown really helps me keep on track as well as keeping me committed and accountable to saving money.

I haven’t done a no buy year but in 2018/19 I really cut back as we were saving so hard to move House. Having that goal really helped, and I didn’t really miss the ‘stuff’. I’ve just rediscovered the joy of the library! I’ve come home with six books that I’m really excited to read. For free!

We are tracking all our expenses this year and doing a low buy as we have renovation and holiday goals. How we approach work expenses is we add in to daily spend as we have purchase with our money then claim it back then add it back into daily spending journal either as a credit or set up columns additional income/money which covers petrol expenses work but also if we sell anything or get a refund as technically it's all money out or money in .

I enjoyed watching the run down of all your purchases. Please do one every month. I’m doing a low spend year too. I started off the year doing no spend January and i will do another no spend in September 2020 and hopefully rest of the year will be a low spend. I’ve given myself £200 budget for all my luxuries which includes skincare, household accessories, coffees and takeaways very similar to your low spend rules.

Hi Lara, love your videos! Just on skincare - I think La Roche Posay is the best brand - mid price range - not cheap but not super expensive and it won’t break out your skin. Also if you buy it from Look Fantastic - they almost always have money off or 20% off. Would love weekly / monthly spend updates - I’m not doing no buy but definitely trying to take more note of my spending. Xx

Loved this! My first purchases after my low buy year were also underwear & bras. Legit dropped $200 but I feel so much more intentional with my money and I know it was necessary!

Try the ordinary for skin care. High end products but really good prices the toner helps with break outs and the products with salicylic acid x

I so relate to the bra thing. Unfortunately I am of a size where my bras cost about £50 each. So I have one bra. It will just have to last. Thankfully it dries overnight. Saving up to buy an extension for our house. Virtually no buy this year.

Only thing I bought in my first month of no buy (categories of clothing and cosmetics because that’s where I spend the most for no reason) was a pair of jeans after mine ripped in the crotch. Thick thighs life! I wish I could have thrifted a new pair to save money but thrifting in the UK as a plus size woman is impossible 😅 your channel is so motivating, only been here a month but so helpful!

Monthly at least, and maybe one week of every month a weekly or something like that. I would also like to now more about the feelings. This is just telling what you bought, and also I find that interesting I find it even more interesting what goes on in you’re mind when you bought the clothing. Or did you had a lot of weak moments were you thought about buying something but didn’t in the end, and the process behind that. Kind regards.

Yes this is just mine. My hubby doesn't buy anything, ever! 😆 And the children didn't need anything apart from a pair of school trousers which I ended up taking back. If I do a weekly one I'll add in anything I get for them but this one is more to show all the things I wanted whilst doing my no buy year as it was such a long time not buying things and I knew I wanted to buy a fair few things so thought that would be interesting.

Re skin care I use loccitane not cheap but lasts for ever and the only thing that doesn’t cause my skin to break out

I've discovered The Friendly Soap Co. charcoal soap. Vegan, cruelty free and low waste.... and it's the best face wash I've ever used! I have oily skin prone to breakouts. I think its £3 and lasts months. 😊

Wow that was abit spendy lol. can't say I blame you after a year tho lol. I really rate the bodyshop skincare but I have never paid full price. You can always get atleast 30% off. I spent about £450 in January....but in my defence I needed new tyres. All I bought not essential items was socks for the kids, some basic underwear for me and a much needed lip balm...and a stupidly dear pair of trainers that weren't needed but very wanted and limited edition (look at me justifying it lol)

I failed my low spend January!! I spent £302.98. I bought Ted Baker: Icon shopper bag £40, New look: long winter coat £55 Asda: cream jumper £11.20 Primark: 5 prs socks £2.80, 2 basic jumpers 1 cream/1grey @£6 each, 5 black strappy vests £9 H&M: grey sweatshirt £12.99 Next: black coated leggings (same as Lara's) £26.99, blue denim A- line skirt £20, black, dark blue, blue jeans @£25 each The perfume shop: Narciso Rodriguez 30ml perfume £38

i would bought at least for a week if i were you. I mean the bras. I have bras for at least two weeks because of the dry time of my laundry. then i can go a week more through laundry with out worries i dont i have one. I wear a new one every day.

I think you will find going vegan really helps with your skin, but if you are still having issues try tea tree oil soap.

@@LaraJoannaJarvis I use Desert Essence. You should be able to find it on Amazon. I noticed a difference with my skin within a week of going off meat, but I have rosacea, so that is a little bit different than pimples. I get pustules, which are similar to pimples. Tea tree oil always worked well for my daughter when she was a teen and had breakouts.
