Its so freaking cool to see turin play aom. Learning in real time and your fundamentals are so damn sound, youll be high ranked in no time. Plz do more aom steams!

Hey Turin glad to see you give AoM a try. It is one of my favorites. I am at the second match in the video so I don't know if you figure it out later but incase you don't. If you keep oracles close to each other only one of them generates favor, not sure about the range but I assume it is the same with their line of sight circle. edit: Also some more tips, I will update this as I watch the video General Towers are not as strong in this game so don't bother dropping towers until you are struggling on pop in very late game, You can auto queue villagers by right clicking the icon, If you have control group of units and you set a buildings rally point to one of the units in the group newly produced units are automatically added to the group, You can get fortified town centers technology for extra 5 pop space per tc, Atlanteans Atlanteans can garrison into their houses and their farms cost a lot like the double of other civilizations, Heroized oracles gain an attack value however they will not attack unless you order them to (just like villagers), Heroizing your units takes a little time and your units are unable to do anything during that time, You can time shift up to 3 buildings at the same time with Kronos and except towers and forts they are free to time shift, Greeks More villagers you have on one temple less it grants... at least it was the case in the old game however sweet spot was around 4 so you can split them if you already have more than one temple,

hope the community keeps going and the developers stay active, this game is just good old fashioned fun. Will be interesting to see competetive gameplay, I was mostly a singleplayer guy for this game back in the day.

I used to play this a lot when I was a kid, great game, I hope they add the Chinese expansion that the original got. Never really got around to the multiplayer though, when I was a kid I would just get dunked on and when I got older the only ones left were the sweatlords, so I still got dunked on. Fun game though, great mechanics and art, though I miss some of the art from the original, some of the old god designs were pretty goated.

Yes and the old portraits are also available ! (As dlc though, that sucks, but it's included in the premium édition which is basically the season pass)

I feel like its a reaction to the bad rewievs the china dlc got, but probably making it one of the two expension they mention for the deluxe edition made me have mixed feelings about this part of the release. I did not hate the chinese as much as the community on steam and to me its just less contend and i have to pay for it AGAIN. one can argue, but it was a dlc? Yes, but here its called an expension, AND Titans was an expension back in the days too and we got this. So i feel meh about this. this should be part of the Retold base game, i'll get it anyway thou

@@ColaMixx3000 Yeah I agree, granted if they rework the Chinese a bit that would probably be good, cause it did feel a bit undercooked when compared to other factions in the game, I didn't hate it though. Hope this renewed interest in the game will lead to us getting more gods and cultures in the future. An Aztec or Inca DLC could be super rad for example.

If you ever do the Campaign (which I recommend, it's great, and also an excellent way of introducing the game mechanics gradually and familiarising you with the different cultures ), make sure to install the Original Voice Mod. Essential for a first time player experience. The Norse are currently considered the most umderpowered/hard to play faction since they're so aggressive and dependent on battle for gaining favour and their buildings are weaker and generally they play so differently from the other cultures. The Greeks or the Atlanteans are def the easiest for a new player to learn. And I agree, a Warhammer game in a similar style would be amazing! I mean there's already dwarves! And the mechanics for myth/fantasy units with different abilities and magic instead of favour/god powers. Actually now I've typed that out, I wonder if anyone will make a Warhammer reskin mod. You could replace the gods with the Four Gods of Chaos, Elven and Old World pantheons, etc. Norse are basically already Chaos Warriors/Norscans. Egyptians=Tomb Kings. Greeks=The Empire, Atlanteans=High Elves.

Loving the QOL updates in retold, the recasting God powers is nuts. Seeing a good remaster is awesome Also I believe that oracles give less favour when grouped up XD

Good to see people in chat urging the micro. AoM is very micro intensive, which makes it very nice to play compared to the macrowars of "i dont even watch the fights, set rally point" games of the genre. Learn the units, their abilities, their counters, the god powers and then choose targets properly during combat. Also, @Turin, keep in mind to check upper right corner for the red banner. Lots of vils idling.

quick tip for building farms you just select the farm then hover on the tc and click to build, it will auto spread them efficiently. if I remember correctly

also for Atlanteans spread the manors out, generally near resource depots. they boost buildings in there AoE as I recall

Yoooo, this game would be perfect for a team FFA! AoE4 failed (in my opinion) because of the 8 player limit (devolves into a sweaty 4v4 or a salt-inducing 6v2), so the 12 people limit of this game should make it a lot more casual with less salt.

The original had terrible balancing, so the meta civs got ganged up on first. If they balanced it better, then yeah, otherwise it'll be meta civs getting ganked early then a sweaty clash of the weaker civs.

If it's anything like the original you harass, turtle, etc while stockpiling faith to summon mythic units. Kinda hard to stop an army of cyclops, etc.

AoM retold in FFA and 1V1 im not playing aoe but for AoM i come in time not 1 week later . This game as a good 30 50max unit army vibe .

Hey, you should start with a campaign speedrun challenge in your discord, etc first. That way everyone is balanced, same races and maps. It was the only way to balance the old game. Interesting challenges like fastest villager cap, fastest hero spam, etc are good community short challenges too.
