Welcome to the Foxhole.🦊🤘 Watta a great reaction, is always nice to see someone totally new on this and get it from the get go, you also got some brief info but lemme help you with a little bit more of this amazing group. BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal (kawaii means cute), mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms, they are: *SuMetal* lead vocalist. *MoaMetal* scream and dance. *YuiMetal* scream and dance, former member since 2018. None of them are related. This was released in 2013 when having around 13/14 and 15 yo, so is one of their early hits and is full of japanese elements, like the _shamizen_ a japanese traditional instrument, and is a party festival song (matsuri). "Sore" "seiya" and "soya" are typical shouts among Japanese festival and it works like a "c'mon!" or "let's go" for them. During the breakdown you can hear another typical japanese folk song called "Sakura Sakura" and they're doing a traditional Japanese dance. I think you need to work with the pronunciation, so to say it right you can use a translator app, but it reads something like "meh- git - su - neh". Song is about female empowerment and if you follow the lyrics you'll see about it, "Megitsune" means female fox (vixen) and they talk about women acting with a smile in their face while crying inside, just to fit in society or what is expected from them, when they're kind to you, they're not trying to make falling in love with them, they're just being their own way, and men tend to confuse and think they're cheating or deceiving. Japanese friends told that "megitsune" used to be a peyorative term in Japanese culture, pretty much just like around the world, but BM is using this as a way to empower women despite the meaning itself. When SuMetal (the lead singer) is pulling out the "tanto" she's saying _"maidens shouldn't be uderstimated",_ that refers to a japanese mob film about some boss mafia daughter before attacking someone. During live performance she does something different and looks really cool doing it. Megitsune is a quintessential BM song and among top ranking songs by fans, SuMetal said she didn't mastered yet, that's why you will hear her doing sound check with this song before live concerts. One of my favorite version is the "Red Fox Festival 2017" with a room full of megitsune only, you can find that at Babymetal Reactor Resource. The origin of the "fox sign" is really long to explained but here's a short summary: The Fox God (Kitsune Sama) is the Metal God who sent these girls (and Kami Band after to help them with the metal sound) to unify the world and set them free from Jpop slavery. The kitsune sign came out by accident around the time they created the group by the girls when trying to imitate the typical metal horn sign they noticed it was similar when doing fox shadow shape, they implemented this as part of the lore, imagery, theme and live concerts, the lore is huge so take your time and keep digging and riding the Foxhole 🦊🤘 Btw they praised for real and made a ritual to the Fox God for this song to be a hit and successful, and thanks to the Fox God this is one of their major hits and favorite BM fan songs. -NotACult- 👀 We know Amuse is very hard to deal with copyright blocked issues, fortunately we got a way to go around with "Babymetal Reactor Resource" YT place, you'll get full original clips of their best live performance with watermarked logo safe to react, look for "Future Plans" vid, follow instructions and you'll get all of them, upload the one with the logo for us and you can watch without it, don't worry for us we already saw all of them. You'll find some watermarked clips in the channel also with the description and where to get the non-logo version. If you want you can watch the original clean version and pause whenever you like to say your comment and after that you can put a logo provided in the same place so you can enjoy a clean version from the beginning. You can also put some heavy opacity and translucent effect to avoid those issues if necessary. However there are some safe clips to react like those from Legend 1997 or some of Budokan 2014 or previous to this year and Festivals that is out of reach from Amuse hands. By all means AVOID live compilations at least for first time watching, not saying all of them are bad but chances are you'll end up facing the bad ones bad edited, very confusing, switching costumes and distracting you from the performance and meaning of the song. Also avoid Glastonbury Festival performance, the sound is bad and the crowd isn't the usual fans. Here's some examples of safe to react live performances: - "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" live at Legend 1997 (2013, you can find this a "Gans Tomas" channel or "abr metal") or Legend I (2012). - "Rondo Of Nightmare" with Mischiefs Of Gods Intro live at Budokan 2014, this one normally is safe to react without any filters. ("Kawaii Metal" channel got this) - "Catch Me If You Can", you got live at Budokan 2014 with subtitles version at GuilhermeCait channel or live at MetroRock 2015 in Babymetal Reactor Resource channel under the title "CMIYC". - "Ijime Dame Zettai" live at Sonisphere Festival 2014 (lately hasn't been so safe, so careful) - "Karate" live at Download Festival 2016 ("kitsune6001" channel got this one) - Distortion, live at Download Festival 2018 or Rock Am Ring 2018, official channel got the Download version and is safe to react. If you follow this step by step you won't have blocked issues the majority of times, but sometimes there has been issues with certain songs so if you got those try to put opacity, blur or translucent effect, that might help a little bit. Now you know why we said "kitsune" (fox) to male fans and "megitsune" to female fans but collectively we are officially called as "The One". See you next time.🦊🤘🔥

⚡ 💀 💕 / 🦊 ⛩ [MOA] SU-METAL will slash you. Really. [YUI] Yeah. [SU] (laughs) (Megitsune video commentary from the BABYMETAL members) The lyric when Su pulls the tanto (short blade) out of the microphone is: "Otome wa… nametara ikan zeyo." ("Maidens… should not be underestimated.") Su was 15. Yui and Moa were 13, almost 14 when the music video was released. Even though they were wearing white robes, this was not the Kami Band that BABYMETAL have at live concerts. The performers pretending to play the traditional Japanese instruments in this video are dancers with the Movement Design group. Chidori Yakumo is their director. She is the woman performing the fan dance during the breakdown. Megitsune is my jam. It's still my favorite BABYMETAL song, video and choreography. BABYMETAL's producer Koba sent this song back to the song arranger Yuyoyuppe dozens of times before he was satisfied with it. This one consistently tops fan polls, and has been performed live more than any other BABYMETAL song. Much of the video was shot on location on a Noh drama stage by the Asagaya Shinmei Shrine in Tokyo. This has since become something of a pilgrimmage site for BABYMETAL fans.

To add to what Rick said, I have only seen one reacter spot that Su was holding a tanto at the very beginning of the song. He was into martial arts so he knew Japanese weapons. It is still one of their best songs. Other things to add, the song quotes the old Japanese song "Sakura Sakura" ( the section where pig squeals start). It doesn't usually sound like that.

Excellent reaction, thanks and welcome to BABYMETAL! 20 seconds in and you already was attempting to do the choreo... awesome! I can see you falling into the Fox Hole, head first! 😁👍‍ "Megitsune" is one of their most loved songs (if not the most) and their most played live song (242 times and counting...probably). The word "Megitsune" = "me" + "kitsune" which means female + fox so a vixen. Hence the "kitsune" masks everywhere. The "kitsune" is a Japanese mythologic entity which has the ability of transform into a human form, usually into a young lady form to deceive men. According to Su-metal, the lyrics are about women empowerment. And they sing that they (women) are not like "kitsunes" because they are not deceiving. They are actually "megitsunes", literally "pure-hearted maiden-like female foxes". That breakdown hits hard and besides the pig squeals, the melody is from a Japanese folk song called "Sakura Sakura" (Cherry Blossoms). This music video is, in my opinion, a masterpiece. And about the locations: - The stage where they are performing is called Nohgakudo at Asagaya Shinmei-gu Shrine in Tokyo. This is a stage where music and dances are performed during festivals. - The shrine right before the breakdown with the orange-ish torii gates is the Fushimi Inari-taisha in Kyoto. The girls were so thankful to the music video director for traveling to Kyoto just to film that scene. Until next time!

For what it's worth, if I were tasked to make a top twenty Babymetal songs album, this would be it: 1. Babymetal Death ("Legend 1997" concert version) 2. Megitsune [DONE] 3. Gimme Chocolate!! 4. Iine! (MV) {FYI: this song will peg your "WTF?!" meter!} 5. Doki Doki Morning (MV) 6. Onedari Daisakusen ("Legend 1997" concert version) 7. Song 4 No Uta 8. Uki Uki * Midnight 9. Catch Me If You Can 10. Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! ("Legend 1997" concert version) 11. Ijime, Dame, Zettai 12. Road of Resistance 13. Karate (MV) 14. Meta Taro 15. GJ! 16. Sis Anger 17. From Dusk Till Dawn 18. Shanti Shanti Shanti 19. Pa Pa Ya!! 20. BxMxC (MV) Most of the One (Babymetal fans) would agree that Babymetal is best served live but, as you have witnessed, they have a number of MV's that are real works of art. They have a bit over fifty songs, three albums ("Babymetal", 'Metal Resistance", and "Metal Galaxy") with a fourth one ("The Other One") to be released this coming March. Finally, I would strongly advise you to avoid both compilation and fancam videos like the plague: compilation videos are, in my opinion, an insult to both the viewer and the band; the music is certainly overdubbed, and the changes in venue and costumes (sometimes even personnel) can be confusing if not completely annoying. Watching a Babymetal compilation video is like eating prime rib after somebody else chewed it. You didn't react to Babymetal, you reacted to a highlight reel of Babymetal. And fancams generally have terrible quality and sound thus being basically a waste of time. Enjoy your trip down the foxhole! (You're in for a wild ride!!!) KITSUNE UP!!! 🤘🦊🤘

Most people either get "Gimmie Chocolate" or "Karate" as their first, and while both are great songs, they are not the best for a first reaction IMO. Intellectually, they conflict with everything I thought I liked about music but they are great for the soul. They’re such wonderful entertainers and I strongly encourage you look at their live performances because the talent from everybody involved with them and consideration to their audience is immense. This band has brought me extreme joy and satisfaction for music and their new album is sounding good from the two releases I’ve heard. Welcome to Banymetal's Galaxy and Foxhole. The Fox God is Babymetal's patron deity and so you'll see lots of foxes and this song is drawing parallels with the traits of foxes in Japanese myths and the traditional way Japanese women (and maybe all women) have been expected to behave in patriarchal societies. Megitsune is an early Babymetal song released in 2013 so Su will be 15 in the video and Moa and Yui are 13. Megitsune, or vixen, is one of BM's female empowerment songs. The temple and the Japanese instruments sets a very traditional tone, but right from the start old Japanese values are challenged as Yui and Moa pull on Su's obi (sash) to release her from her kimono so she can do the high leg lift dance. That dance contrasts with the traditional restrained dance in the break down. That break down is a very old song called "Sakura, Sakura" and is about the cherry blossom, but BM even subvert that and Su sing's "kitsune, kitsune" (fox, fox). This also might be an expression of BM moving away from their parent idol group which was Sakura Gakuin or Cherry Blossom Academy. In Japan the fox is seen as a clever shape shifter and the lyrics liken women to female foxes in the way they have to change themselves to please others or to hide their true feelings. In the dance BM mime wearing a mask and also putting on make up as another way to hide themselves. But the strength of women is emphasized and the expression of this peaks when Su shouts: "Otome wa nametara ikan zeyo" and draws a knife from her microphone. The phrase is translated as "Maidens shouldn’t be underestimated" (credit Du-metal), although that is a polite interpretation. It's also used in a famous Japanese gangster film called Onimasa and is translated there as " don't you sh*t with me". Some of BM's lyrics can be quite shocking to Japanese audiences and native speakers say that gets lost on non-Japanese speakers who have to experience Babymetal's lyrics through the distorting lens of translation. For your next video react to a live performance, BM are always best live. Look at "Babymetal Headbanger - Legend 1997".

Excellent first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Galaxy (or Fox Hole🦊). That was fun, I really enjoyed your reaction - and the fact you were straight into joining in with the choreo is a great sign ... you'd love their live shows and the mosh'sh pits (like normal mosh pits but a bit more friendly and every now and then they turn into crowds of hairy metalheads trying to copy the choreo ... its hilarious). I don't think I need to add anything to the excellent info already provided and I will second all the suggestions for more songs from them to react to (I'd go with the Legend of 1997 live performance of 'Headbanger' first ... Legend 1997 was the concert title, lead singer Su-metal was born in 1997, this was her 16th birthday party in December 2013). Follow Jake Muller's advice for where to find the best videos that are safe for reacting to. Only another 50 or so songs to go ... 🤘🦊🤘

Good reaction and welcome to the Babymetal galaxy. Babymetal's style is known as "Kawaii Metal or Cute Metal" and they are its creators. It is based on the fusion of any genre of metal with pop, thus always giving very energetic songs, generally heavy and full of joy. It is very difficult not to finish watching or listening to a Babymetal song without a smile on your face. They currently have 3 albums: 1- Babymetal, where they were between 12 and 15 years old, so you can find songs that could easily be defined as children's. 2.- Metal Resistance: between 16 and 18 years old. In this album you can find both the spirit of the early days and the progress towards maturity as a group and as individuals. 3.- Metal Galaxy: 19+ where his music, without losing its essence of energy and joy, already has, in my opinion, a marked musical maturity. They are currently presenting their fourth album, called "The Other One" where they have only presented one song called "Divine Attack", but of course if the quality is this, it promises a lot.

Welcome welcome welcome! This is one (of many many) of my favorite Babymetal songs. It's really cool to see you get sucked in so quickly! Since you began your BM journey when they were still young, I'd experience them chronologically. So let's hit Gimme Chocolate, Headbanger, Doki Doki Morning, Iine (staring with an 'i', not an 'L'), and Uki Uki Midnight. BM is a performance band and is best experienced live. When you hit their second album Metal Resistance, let's do Karate music video, Road of Resistance Live in Japan, Tales of the Destinies, No Rain No Rainbow at the Baptism XX show, and The One. And on their third album Metal Galaxy, Da Da Dance, Pa Pa Ya, Shine, Starlight, Arcadia. Oh crap, I might as well just suggest all of them. What was I thinking trying to single out particular songs? They are all good. They are all different. They are all great live. The latest 2 songs they released (just last month and about a week ago) is Divine Attack and Monochrome. But as I said, do them chronologically so you can see their growth. Welcome to The One!

Welcome to BABYMETAL. Originally 3 girls Su-metal, Moa metal and Yui metal who left the group late 2017/18 with health issues. Started in 2010 when the girls were 12 and 11 and now 12 yrs later still going strong with their next world tour and new singles/ album. They were conceived around Su's voice and stage presence when she was 10 by their producer who envisioned a joining of Jpop and metal creating Kawaii metal or cute metal. Over 50 songs and 3 albums, soon 4, multiple world tours and awards for their live performances, voted 10th of 50 top metal bands. Live is best with their musicians the Kami band, session players who are some of the best in Japan. In 2017 supported Metallica in South Korea, Korn, RHCP, Lady Gaga, and worked with Rob Halford, Corey Taylor, Dragon Force, Sabaton, Cthonic, BMTH and many more. Other songs, Headbanger, Catch Me if You Can, Rondo of Nightmare with Kami band intro, Karate, Babymetal Death legend 1997 is a must, and Sonisphere 2014 in the UK in front of 60,000 metal heads.

It makes me remember my first time listening to them and it ALWAYS brings a smile to my face & I love people having a chance to feel the same way. That was my goal with this channel & I'm glad I slowly started creeping out from my rock! We won't tell anyone just how long it took me to, though!!! :)

@@EmpReacts I crawled out of my rock more than 3 yrs ago just in time to go down the Fox Hole in the midst of COVID pandemic. Heck, I credit surviving the strict lockdowns to hours and hours of scrounging Babymetal reaction videos or any related content...that was weirdly a truly wonderful period... we have been "unlucky" to come in late to the party - I actually saw the Colbert show live performance in 2016 on TV and while impressed, just like most metalheads I thought they were nothing more than a gimmick - we are still lucky to be able to re-live our best Babymetal memories, through others. So I subscribed, to relive mine again. :)

I enjoyed that reaction a lot, thank you! That's the kind of energy I expect to see when people react to BABYMETAL. It's a little hard to accept for a metalhead, but the dancing does really add a lot to the entertainment value and incites an urge to participate, doesn't it? And that's only one facet of this amazingly unique band. Would you believe that it's kicked up another notch live? Their catalogue does not only contain bangers, though, you'll find all sorts of Metal subgenres fused with a buttload of other musical genres. You'll hear some Rap, EDM, Hip Hop, Waltz, Dubstep... the only constant is that it's always great fun. It would be easy to recommend anything if it weren't for their management's strict policies. There are many performance videos that get blocked every time, so you'd be well advised to stick with fan recommendations. My vote for the next one goes to "Headbanger", preferably from the "Legend 1997" show.

Lots of recommendations for "Headbangeeer! Live Legend 1997". Afterwords, just for giggles, check out "Headbangeeer! - Live Night of 15 Remix" from the same show. Same song, totally different and fun vibe. Then, to really get your mind blown, there is "Headbangeeer! Live - Legend M Apocrypha XX" (lovingly referred to as "Moabangeeer!" where Moametal sings lead second half for her 20th birthday (and The ONE worships her for it). 😆 🤘🦊🤘😁

That was the perfect reaction to the pig sqeal, here's your medal 🏅 I'm so excited to follow you on your BABYMETAL journey. Live performances are more often than not the way to go for them. I think one exception to that however would be this song since I've found with most of the live performances you don't hear that pig squeal. Every BABYMETAL song is different, still a mix of jpop and metal, but different styles and subgenres. Some suggestions I think you could react to as part of your journey into the foxhole 🦊🤘 These are titles of videos on KZbin: BABYMETAL - Headbanger Live @ Legend 1997 Apocalypse BABYMETAL - Road of Resistance - Live in Japan (OFFICIAL) BABYMETAL - Ijime,Dame,Zettai - Live at Sonisphere 2014,UK (OFFICIAL) BABYMETAL | Catch Me If You Can (with Kami Band Intro) | LIVE at Budokan Black Night (HQ) BABYMETAL | Rondo of Nightmare (w/ Mischiefs of Metal Gods Intro) | LIVE at Budokan Black Night BABYMETAL - 'YAVA!'「ヤバッ!」(Kami band intro) [LIVE PROSHOT] [SUBTITLED] [4K HQ] Then once you're through a few of those you might be ready for this one: BABYMETAL | BABYMETAL DEATH | LIVE at Legend 1997 (HQ) [Intro subtitled] You've got 10 years and three albums, and a lot of lore to get though! They also recently released two new singles as part of their run up to their fourth album coming March next year, but maybe you should listen to some of their older stuff above first.

Babymetal is unlike any other band in the world. There is nothing that sounds like them, or that performs like them. They are the pioneers, and arguably the world only, exponents of a style of metal they call "kawaii metal" (cute metal) which incorporates a blend of Japanese J-pop vocals, dance, and aesthetics, with heavy metal music. Babymetal are legendary for their live performances (and have won numerous award), and we generally recommend that whenever possible to watch their live shows because they way they interact with the fans is an integral part of the experience. Now that you have had a taste of what Babymetal can do, its time for you to enter the foxhole. Some more tracks to check out to get you started: Gimme Chocolate, Headbangerrr!!!, Ijime Dame Zettai, Road of Resistance, Karate.

heard this song in 2013 and been hooked ever since. have to listen to Babymetal everyday. FYI Su the lead singer was 15 years old and the other two were 13. also Babymetal was formed in 2010 when Su was 12 and the others were 11. Su has been on stage since she was 6 years old. you can never put them in a box because thry do do many different genres of metal and blend other genres into their version of metal. now the production team for Babymetal is top teir. the live shows in Japan are some of the best live shows you can go to. the energy they have is amazing. enjoy your journey.

Look dude please heed my post. You are going to be flooded with support, suggestions, and information about BABYMETAL. DONT READ ANY OF IT!!! Here's why. We want reactions like this one. The less you know and the less prepared you are going into a BM song the better for all of us especially you. What we want is to relive our first exposure and subsequent exposers to BABYMETAL now through you. Megitsune was a great place to start. Don't jump around, start at the beginning experience the evolution of this great band so we get to relive our trip down the fox hole with you. Trust me I'm 60 years old and I know things. You should react to live concert videos mostly but "line" pronounced EE NAY should be your next actual video. After that just look up BABYMETAL live Budokan 2014 Almost all songs from the first album can be seen LIVE in concert at a great show. Please start with this so you will get the most out of your journey and we will go along for the ride again.

The Japanese entertainemtnt industry is often VERY blunt and direct with their titles and names. If they call something "BabyMetal" it will be actual children doing actual metal... but with a twist. Thats like the entire Japanese moto xD Same with anime. Some have notoriously long titles which are almost a micro-synopsy of the show. "The time I was reincarnated as a slime" "The hero who is really overpowered but overly cautious" "Is It Wrong To Try To Pick Up Girls In A Dungeon?" "I Couldn’t Become A Hero, So I Reluctantly Decided To Get A Job" etc etc 'And its ALWAYS exactly what it claims to be. Japan also have normal titles on stuff to, its not always like this... But if you get a descriptive title, its most likely gonna be *exactly* what the title says it is xD These girls were 13 (Zu) and 11(Moa/Yui) when they first started. 12 and 11 technically, Zu's birthday is in late December so she handt turned 13 when they formed. Their skill and professionalism for such a young age is really something. My favorite song is *Akatsuki* [A-ka-Tsu-Ki]. Its the words "Aka" (Red) and Tsuki (Moon). But put together they spell "Dawn". It has heavy riffs, it has a softer side, it has beautiful lyrics and its set up exceptionally well to let Zu show off her increadibly pure and clean vocals. Chiming like a crystal bell in a dead scilent nigth. This song has it all *except* Moa and Yui (unfortunately) Its a solo act by Zu while Moa and Yui had a well deserved rest back stage. But even so, its still my favorite. Highly recommend it.
