I went over to my folks’ house to watch that game with them. They had baked a couple of pizzas and things like that. Turns out my father and I were rooting for different teams, but we all enjoyed watching it together. Yet, when they announced that Chris was going to perform the song, I sat right up. It seemed like something good was about to go down. And it most definitely did. Love the way he brought his country/soul vocal style to the song. I think this will go down in history as one of the best renditions ever performed.

With the reaction you had to the Star-Spangled Banner you should really watch a video called “the Star-Spangled Banner as you’ve never heard it.” It tells the story of Francis Scott key, writing the song and why he penned The words that he did. It will give you a complete new appreciation for the words and what they mean. I’m 72 years old and had never heard the story behind the words. It’s not exactly historically correct but that part doesn’t matter. You’ll understand why we respect it as much as we do once you listen to it. Thank you again for your channel and all the hard work you do and the way that you share your heart and soul with us. It makes a great difference in my life

Can we all just agree to sing the Star Spangled Banner in this style and with Chris' inflections instead of the church hymn-like traditional style and agree on THAT as our one national anthem for everyone rather that talk about seperate anthems? All reactions to this version have been overwhelmingly positive from persons of all different, diverse cultures and colors. Can we just agree that this version is more inclusive and correct for our melting pot?
