thank you for eating halo-halo the right way because it's annoying how some foreigners would try halo-halo and hate it for not eating it the right way. the only way you van justify if you love or hate it is if you eat it how it should be eaten. some ppl will just eat the toppings or eat thr components one by one, even the ice, which is funny because thise ingredients were put together for a reason. thanks for appreciating the other dishes that you've tried, too. Skip the Lumpia and the Pancit, that is just Chinese spring roll and Chinese stir fry egg noodle. Unless the pancit comes from a very old Chinese restaurant in Philippines. It's the Chinese that believe eating long noodles will prolong your life, which the Filipinos adopted. The pancit Canton was adopted from the Chinese noodle dish. Canton was the former name Guangzhou in China. Here in the Philippines, pancit is named after a place where the noodle dish originated like Pancit Malabon from Malabon City. Hence, Pancit Canton from Canton or Guangzhou, China. Steamed buns are a staple of Chinese restaurants here in the Philippines and not in Filipino restaurants. Steamed buns are of Chinese origin.

Wow that place is amazing. It is just a small food truck but a lot of food options, and those options are not even like the basic Filipino dishes, like the Ukoy, buchi, and Pineapple Chicken with coconut, I don't expect to find those easily in other Filipino restaurants here in the US, so those are a tad advance dishes tbh, lol. Like the ukoy, I have a feeling you will not like it at first, it is quite an acquired taste. In the halo-halo, you had something that taste like pineapple or peach, that is actually the ripe jackfruit, which you also mentioned(looking for) during the turon tasting lol. Thank you for featuring our dishes, I'm Filipino btw, living in Boston now.

Fancy indeed as we want to make them extra special for our customers. By the way, we don’t put sugar inside our turon, just Saba banana and jackfruit. We also don’t use cane sugar but palm sugar and coconut milk for our drizzle. It is meant to complement the natural sweetness of banana and langka fruits. Would love for you to try Dad’s Best version of turon 😊.

One aspect of Filipino food that is not well-known: the diner can apply and mix any type of flavor condiment or dipping sauce combo they like. However, ask a Filipino on what combo really works for each dish. You can try bago-ong (sauteed fermented shrimp paste) on unripe (sour) greel mangos or on the karé-karé peanut sauce stew (with either beef, pork, or seafood). You can add vinegar + calamansi (Philippine lime) + onions + garlic + chili peppers on almost any fried or grilled meats. Try the Mang Tomas sweet liver sauce on lechon kawali (fried pork belly). You can explore other Filipino foods at different restaurants or buy Filipino drinks, snacks, candy, 15:04 and desserts at an Asian grocery.

the noodles is mixed pancit canton (flour sticks) with bihon (rice noodles). basic lumpia shanghai is normally ground pork, carrots onions, sometimes water chestnuts and seasonings..cabbage not usually for pork shanghai lumpia. Halo halo is mix mix, good job. Tho havent heard of coconut milk being used, normally evapporated milk or a combo of evap and condensed milk. Sio pao usually a snack, since it's kinda heavy. Ukoy/Okay is one of my favorites, since there are a variety of ways to make. Should be eaten fresh tho..not cold. I usually have okoy with banana ketchup. Wow that version of turon might be tasty but that scary for a diabetic.

@@ItsWannie looking forward to that. I know you'll enjoy it too. 😊 Filipino food is mostly salty, fatty and oily lol 🤣you should try the boodle fight! It's a variety of food that can be shared with friends or family. It's served and eaten on a banana leaf with all the seafood, fruits, fried food and rice. Usually we eat with bare hands.

What you just had is called a Jack fruit on that sweet drink. The sesame ball you had at towards the end, pair it with vanilla ice cream, it’s the best!
