David Bowie is, hands down, the greatest artist to have ever walked this earth. The guy is the true definition of an “Icon”, a legendary performer of “sound and vision” who put his entire body and soul into every bit of his art that he ever created. Such a fantastic performer for many decades and always evolving his music and his look and stage presence through the decades he was around for until his untimely death. The absolute coolest and most down to earth musician/artist to ever be here with us on this planet. It’s never too late to discover all his great music from when he first started up until his sudden death. We are so lucky to have had such an artist here with us and the amount of music he created during his time is mind blowing. The most real and truest definition of what many would call “an extremely talented and gifted genius”

David Bowie crossed all genres.spoke out on issues,he even confronted MTV during an interview asking them why they didn't have black artists music videos on their channel. Married one of the most beautiful black women ever in Iman. I think they were married in the early 90's up until his death.

MTV was a rock format channel. I'd like to see soul train have Led Zeppelin on but that would be silly. Artists wanted the exposure MTV offered and of course they caved to the pressure.

@@Studamato let's be honest. The diversity pressure is only applied to white people. There is no pressure for other groups to diversify. Something can always be too white but never too black or brown. They can form thier own enterprises and clicks with zero pressure to accommodate white people. Diversity ruined MTV and I like most genres of music.
@Studamato
@Studamato 2 жыл бұрын
@@davidpaulk5658 No, reality tv ruined MTV, not diversity. I'm going to be honest too, you're just a little too deep into worrying about how great people of color have it over whites when, even in this day and age they don't have a percentage point of what we have. In regards to anyone accommodating me because of the color of my skin, which is white, I can honestly say there's no reason to ask anyone to pity me. I can truly tell you one thing, there will never be an end to racism as long as we refer to each other by the color of our skin or ethnicity. It's all our music too, every form, every person that sings and plays it! That's the beauty of freedom, you can't take away what reaches my ears and heart...I won't let you.

David Bowie was an English singer-songwriter & actor. He constantly reinvented himself to stay current over nearly 5 decades. His first big hit was "Space Oddity" in 1969. He has had a lot of great songs including "Starman", "Ziggy Stardust", "Rebel Rebel", "Young Americans", "Changes", "Fame", "Golden Years", "Ashes To Ashes", "Under Pressure", Let's Dance", "Modern Love", "China Girl", "Heroes" etc.

Blah blah blah, Any way enough of that. Lennon on Fame? Not actually a co-writer but did get a credit. Bowie was a massive Beatles/Lennon fan and covered Across The Universe on Young Americans.. Lennon turned up during the recording of Fame and just hung out. Bowie gave him a 'Co' just for the inspiration it gave him just being in the studio. Fame's 'Riff' is actually a Carlos Alomar riff (From a track of his own called Foot Stompin' I think?) that Bowie used, with Alomars Blessing obviously, as he was Bowies musical director at the time. I hope that helps.

it seemed like everything David Bowie did while we were blessed to have him with us....he was secretly letting out little hints and winks to us all that he really was from somewhere else in the galaxy, another dimension entirely. He just happened to land here on Earth way back when, kinda dug what he saw, liked the scenes we had going on so he chose to remain here and entertain us endlessly with his amazing musical talent, his style, his unique brand of 'only I can pull this look off' kind of cool. God how we miss him. :)

Bowie had a great career! Always changing, always evolving. You should react to a later video in his career - 'I'm Afraid of Americans'.

Unforgettably, the announcement of Bowie's death (after a lengthy private battle with liver cancer, unknown even to most of those working with him) came just two days after he put out his magnificent album Blackstar, a bracing meditation on mortality released on his 69th birthday
