i think too that "film it now" is about how a huge part of their lives, the very important part without which they'd feel dead, is always documented for the world to see since their early youth. on the one hand, it's a really good memory chest and it's also one of the pillars for the connection with fans. but on the other hand, it's like being watched all the time. that can't not affect you, right. first thing that i remember hearing this line is Jungkook's line from his solo song My Time (from the same album as Black Swan): "My life has been a movie all the time". there are not only good and happy things that have been recorded. when they suffer, when they feel down or insecure, cameras don't turn away. they willingly let it happen and they've talked that they want to show everything to army, good and bad. this vulnerability is their biggest strength but still a great sacrifice of privacy

I totally agree with your comment. In this album Map of the Soul 7 all of them express in group and individually this part of their being (The work on the archetypes Persona, Shadow and Ego, from the psychology of Carl Jung. Very interesting, since it deals with the process of individuation, that is, how each human being does to integrate all aspects of his own being in the world) There is an interesting global press conference for this album, available and subtitled on youtube.

One thing I noticed in the comments section was how wonderful ARMY family (fandom name) was encouraging you to not feel bad about listening to their music, how to be comfortable with your choices, be yourself and love yourself. This is the essence of the fandom and fully aligned with what our boys have promoted. The things that shine through about the boys is not just their artistry, but also their hard work, ethics, values, kindness, messages, and their proof that love really does make things better for ourselves and our surroundings. Thank you for your reaction.

I do the same as you with music - if I like it, I like it. 🤷‍♀️ I listen to anything from The Offspring to ABBA *but* I've never fallen so hard as I have for BTS. Their lyrics and mvs hold amazing depth with topics like socio-economic issues, mental health problems, self-development, classic litterature, greek mythology, astronomy, psychology,... And they do EVERYTHING from neosoul to battle style rap so you'll always find something to match your taste and mood. Not to mention that Jin's Epiphany live (ballad) *litterally* saved my life. I'm definitely in the "BTS finds you when you need them the most" category. I think you'd love Suga's The Last (rap song) about his struggles with anxiety and depression. Do You by RM is amazing as well. They're very honest and raw in their lyrics about their personal struggles. Not Today goes hard and it's the perfect "No f_ing way!" song. 😈 Enjoy your BTS journey however long it may be. 💜 - a danish ARMY, age 45, fellow anxiety sufferer

Also Blood, Sweat and Tears. Also look for explanation video and/or a Behind the scenes for their videos as they are helpful and interesting.

talking about looking inside of you at your insecurities and fears... it's no wonder Black Swan is on Map Of The Soul album which talks exactly about the discover of self. three representative songs for the album theme are Intro: Persona (RM's solo, persona is a psychic term of the facade we put on to present for the outer world with consideration of opinions and judgement, the part of us that will please or compromise with the society in different situations), Interlude: Shadow (Suga's solo, shadow is a psychic term of the human trait that we are ashamed of or are judged for, it's a suppressed part of mind that people try to forget about - fears, insecurities, taboos) and Outro: Ego (J-hope's solo, ego is a psychic term for human's identity, what they think they are or what they want to be). through these songs and the MOTS album series they go through the path of exploring and understanding themselves, which includes the acceptance of the shadow. i think you will like these songs :)

I can't wait to not only watch future videos but also go back and watch past videos. A lot of people say BTS finds you when you need them, as you get further in, you may find that to be the case. You have an amazing positive attitude and hearing that you already wanted to learn Korean (me too), I can tell you are hooked and will fit right in with ARMY. My one advice. Do BTS and any kpop at your pace. Don't worry about trying to make every person watching or commenting happy because it will never happen. Just keep yourself happy. Also, don't worry about anyone looking at you funny when you listen to kpop, none of us do and, as BTS taught us, Love Yourself.

Thank you for sharing a bit of your own personal journey. I appreciate you putting out the message that there is a way out of addiction and despair. Mental health is treated as a taboo subject in many countries, and especially in Korea. Suga/Agust D has shared his own struggles with depression and anxiety. Jin (one of the vocalists) released "Abyss" about his struggles in the first year of the pandemic, and he tweeted out that he sought out counseling to help him. I admire the members of BTS for being very open, thoughtful, and willing to shine light on topics that need to be discussed.

one thing that really struck me was when you were talking about how life is beautiful around 19:10 . in bts's early days, they had a trilogy album series(?) called "the most beautiful moment in life" (this is the literal translation if I'm not mistaken. "Hwa Yang Yeon Hwa" is the Korean ver of this saying which is often abbreviated by armys as "hyyh") which explores the highs and lows of youth. i think it'd be really cool for you to dive into the series once you become more comfy with their music and who they are as people (: wishing you luck on your journey! and thanks for this wonderful reaction!!

This song made me ARMY, and Jimin represented the Black Swan beautifully with his dance solo performance. BTS has always put themselves into their music, and their CEO/company has always encouraged them to create their own sound, and to put their emotions and experience into their music, and encouraged them to do solo projects. This is about the fear of losing your passion for music, or not being able to perform any more, and BTS are all about their music. They have gone through many hard ships and have experienced serious burn out, and they actually discussed disbandment at one point, when their contract was up for renewal. They worked through it and signed another 7 year contract. Their music has acted as a conduit for growth, from what I've seen, not just for them, but for ARMY's as well. Many ARMY's will tell you about how BTS came into their life when they needed them most, and their music has helped them through some very hard times. The ARMY's are very loyal and dedicated to BTS. And their is a very symbiotic, reciprocal relationship between BTS and ARMY. You should check out the album Map of the Soul: 7, it's a very deep and introspective album. this is one of the singles they released for it. ON was the title track. They explore Carl Jung's theory of Individuation - The Persona, Shadow, and EGO. The album was the number one album globally in 2020. You could start with Intro: Persona - it's an RM solo, and the first song on the album. I will link it for you. By the way, Intro: Persona is an old school style hip hop rap song, by RM the group leader. It's one of my favorite RM songs. It was absolutely lyrics that made me an ARMY in the first place back in 2018 - I didn't follow kpop at all but happened to have one of their songs on my Spotify playlist for months, never knew what they were saying - one day I looked up the song on youtube, found their dance practice video which had lyrics on it, and was blown away by how much I related to their words. Great reaction, the lyrics are touching and it feels deeply honest, and I could feel the passion coming through. I totally agree, music moves us, changes us sometimes. Beautiful intro and outro with the harp sound. You know me though Twitty, i cannot pretend to like this style of music and auto-tune singing even though it's done artfully, but that's no disrespect, music is such an individual thing and very personal to ourselves and I couldn't expect everyone to like what I'm into either. But I did see the beauty, artistry, sincerity and passion in this track.

the label "boyband" has a lot of baggage with it that doesn't go along with who BTS are even if there are similar characteristics on the first glance like that they are boys and they are a band and i get that it's kind of a social habbit to call such units a boyband, but since this word is so polluted with stereotypes, i don't understand why not just call them... a male group? it's quite neutral :)

Yes I agree. I dont like the term 'boyband' in general and certainly dont believe it is a label for BTS. Also what frustrates me is they are not 'boys' or even teenagers anymore they are men. 💜 Not really a fan of the term Kpop either, I prefer to say South Korean music or just music - sadly society and media like to categories and stereotype and fit things into neat little boxes to try to tell you exactly what something is or to say that everything is the same. This is often why most people miss out. They dont want to check things out or be open to them as they have preconceived notions based on what society tells them. 😔

Hey Twitty! Thanks for giving BTS a chance! Their Title Tracks (songs with music videos) are often more pop-y with broader lyrics for the general mass. They really share their insecurities and are vulnerable on their B-Sides (other songs on their albums). If you want to deep dive into the lyrics be sure to check some of them out, there are color-coded videos that give you the translation. :] I won't recommend any more videos, I'm sure ARMY will lead you through the journey of discovering BTS perfectly fine. Black Swan and its album came out a month before COVID hit. During that time, we were awaiting a new tour, jamming out to their songs and shooting theories around regarding their music videos. BTS had also teamed up with independent artists to set up art exhibits around the world as their tour approached, which was pretty unheard of at the time. When i listen to this album and Black Swan now, it always carries memories of the uncertainty we faced during those times.

If you like metal and deep lyrics i HIGHLY recommend Dreamcatcher. They’re my fav Korean group with BTS. Dreamcatcher’s discography touches every genre, but their title tracks are always rock, or have rock/metal elements. Their Japanese releases are even more rock/metal, they also make songs for anime and video games because it fits their style really well. Their lyrics are very deep, especially their trilogy with Scream, Boca and Odd Eye, basically hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil. But all of their songs have awesome lyrics.

You can react to Outro:tear live version with the english subtitles. Blood sweat and tears also has a lot of meaning the lyrics and visuals combined. Good reaction keep going!

At 2:30 min you read a description about the meaning of the performance, but the performance they were referring to is the Black Swan art film performed by The MN Dance Company. Before this version of Black Swan was released, BTS released an instrumental remix (with vocals) of the song with a performance by the contemporary dance group. It’s a beautiful version of this song and a stunning performance. Here’s the link if you want to watch it on your own: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rHjFpoh8h8mMp7c

They say BTS finds you when you’re the most in need of them or most ready for them. From my personal experience if I started listening to them a few months before I actually did, I probably wouldn’t have liked them at all

I'm gonna say my unpopular opinion, I don't like doolset. sometimes the lyrics are relatively straightforward, like in Black Swan (yes, it's open to interpretation, but the translation to what they're saying is pretty clear from the official subtitles), and I feel they occasionally over-complicate it for no reason (like Suga's first verse). yeah, it might be good for cultural/language references, but other than that, I rarely saw any added value in them after watching many reaction channels using them. Edit: I love your reactions. you're an honest dude
@twittystreams
@twittystreams 2 жыл бұрын
Their translation is very literal I agree with you I honestly use it to explain the Korean references and it's easier to read a webpage of lyrics than go lyric by lyric using the closed captions on the video. Still they overcomplicate simple verses lol Thank you for watching and I appreciate your thoughts 💚
