Coming from a country that is currently at war, I feel a very special connection to epiphany. The line "only 20 minutes to sleep, but you dream of some epiphany. Just one simple glimpse of relief to make some sense of what you've seen" breaks me every time knowing that's exactly what our defenders are going through at the frontlines right now. Every time I play this song I go on an emotional journey and have this cathartic experience crying out all the hurt and being forever grateful to everyone fighting for our home, our freedom, protecting my family. To me this song is the epitome of art and its role in our lives as human beings

During Covid, I worked as an essential worker in a pharmacy. It was hell. The day before I left for vacation in the woods, Folklore dropped. I went hiking to clear my head and listened to "Epiphany" on repeat. It connected to me on a deeply personal level. It helped me process my anxiety and depression. It's my favorite song of all time because of what it helped me through. I'm forever indebted to Taylor for the help she brought me with "Epiphany" and "Forever Winter".

I lost 6 family members between December 2020 and September 2021. Three from Covid, one from an overdose, two from heart failure. One of the latter was my 28 year old brother who apparently had a congenital heart issue we never knew about. That period of time is a blur of grief and anger about losing my family and fury at the people here in the States, refusing to believe that Covid was real. In NYC my friend was sharing photos of the freezer trucks lined up around the hospitals because they didn't have room in the morgues for all the bodies. Those images are burned in my memory forever and ever. But, listening to epiphany today, with you, I feel the healing beginning. Thank you for what you do.

I’m sorry if this is traumatic, but I just wanted you to know that you bring light into the world, even if you might think it’s silly, or pointless. This is Me Trying is a song that is very important to me, as I wish someone would give me a gold star for all of the days I go on without him. The part that you recognised in 'illicit affairs', the 'don't call me kid, don't call me baby' you would have heard in the eras tour because they use that part of the song to transition between 'august' and 'my tears ricochet' but the rest of the song I don't think you would have heard before.

Epiphany breaks me to tears every time I listen to it. My sister is a nurse in ICU and during this time my “job” was to make sure I could call and speak to her so she could at least speak and free herself from what she was living at every hour of the day… every day. It was heart-breaking listen to her pain.. And we were in two different countries at that time… and I was working from 6 am to 1 or 2 am of the next day… and then repeat… I was in the food industry, so we had to keep supermarkets constantly supplied… it was a hard time! But THEM, at the hospitals, they were just crushed physically and emotionally… 😢❤ when I first heard the song I was not a swiftie and knew just some things about Taylor and her music. This made me think right away: what a beautiful soul this girl is! How has she captured all this pain… at the same time that we were all living it! Masterful! That and obviously the entire album made me just love her and have a profound respect for her art. Your reactions are so interesting and fun Luke. Keep it up❤

OOH I LIVE FOR THESE 🥰🥰 Congrats on the store!! Also, you think her writing a verse from August in the booth is nuts, the ENTIRE 10 minutes of All Too Well is completely adlibbed because she came into the studio one day angry and upset about her breakup at that time, and she just started playing the guitar and singing whatever came into her head, and that’s how All Too Well (10 Minute Version) was made ❤️ 8:34 also, there IS a fan made movie/video of Betty/August/Cardigan. Imagine hearing this album in that awful summer and fall of 2020, especially Epiphany. In the US we not only were in the pandemic, and so many of us were unemployed, but also a very fraught election and general unrest with protests and riots. Here in Los Angeles we were having curfews because of it and helicopters were circling nightly and iPhone alarms were going off all around. I spent many late nights listening to this album and feeling like it was the only thing getting me through.

Epiphany always makes me so sad. The pandemic has been so hard on my family. I remember hearing this song and thinking maybe people would get it a little more. My youngest and I are severely immunocompromised and have lived a large amount of our lives in isolation. We're still in the camp that can't get COVID (or flu or anything else) without risking our lives to the extreme. For a short time it felt like people were with us and understood how hard our isolation could be, but everyone forgot it as fast as they could (which I get - I would too if I could) and we're still here doing what we've always done by ourselves. Sometimes it feels like music and art are all we've got.

What the first responders went through..... Holding people's hand through plastic, as they lay there, gasping their last breaths.... Not being able to see loved ones and in some cases dying alone. This went on, day after day, month after month. 7 million people died worldwide. My brain can not process that number. These first responders would get 20 minute breaks and worked 24 - 36 hour shifts. It is mind boggling. Being out of toilet paper was inconvenient, but is nothing compared to the life long damage done to our doctors and nurses.... Some health care systems still have not recovered.

For one of your Taylor Tuesdays, it might be fun to react to her "I Bet You Think About Me" music video and Taylor's surprise performance of "Better Man" at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville (where she was first discovered). Both songs are vault tracks from "Red-Taylor's Version". And as others have commented, "I Bet You Think About Me" is a follow up to "All Too Well" about Jake Gyllenhaal.

The effect of 9-11 here in the States was similar to the pandemic. I have major time gaps in my mind surrounding both of those events. FYI, my office didn’t close during the pandemic, not a single day. My boss’s excuse was that we were “essential”. We were NOT & they wouldn’t let us work remotely either. Most stressful time in my life.

Luke sadly some of us have nobody - I’ve been through family domestic violence & I am actually totally alone - in a new state and I do not know a single soul - all my past relationships are tied up to & with my abusers. Those that weren’t I lost because of my abusers. So as much as I get your sentiment it’s not always that easy…
