Long Pond is a chance to record in person, after she'd written Folklore during the pandemic and recorded it separately (her vocals were recorded in her house with a mobile setup!) instead of all together. The two men you see with her are Jack Antonoff (producer and songwriter) and Aaron Dessner (songwriter, he's in the band The National), who contributed to the songs on Folklore. It's the first time that they've been able to be together and record. There's stuff about this in the movie! I suggest maybe you listen to them maybe in chunks, or do the whole thing on Patreon and have folks vote on which ones to have the music reactions posted to KZbin? I'd sub for you to watch that and Reputation Tour in no seconds flat, NGL (I pop around on Patreon to spread my subscriptions around, so I'm not trying to be all 'do this and I'll support you! sorry if that's what it seemed like). Rep leaves Netflix on 12/30. I love ALL your Swift reactions thank you so much!! 💚

Long Pond Studio is owned by Aaron Dessner of the National. He is one of her co-collaborators and is the guy with the long hair playing instruments in the background (the guy with short hair is Jack Antonoff). This album was made during lockdown and elements recorded separately, so this recording was the first time they got to play the songs together

The studio belongs to Aaron Dessner; he moved to upstate New York years ago. His band, The National, is quite scattered; his twin, Bryce, did the orchestration arrangements for folklore and Evermore; he spent the pandemic in Paris. Dessner also works with Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) in a "project" (band) called Big Red Machine (Dessner is from Ohio; the name was the nickname for the Cincinatti Reds baseball team, forever ago). Dessner met Swift at a The Nationals show; they talked about how Dessner works long distance with his different collaborators. When the pandemic hit, and her shows were cancelled, she called Dessner up and asked if he'd be interested in working with her. THREE months later they released folklore (July). In September, she filmed the documentary and started writing Evermore, which was released in December. She paid for it (?) and directed it, like the Eras Tour film. The cameras in Dessner's studio were carefully set up and robotically controlled; while Justin had a live cameraman in his studio in Wisconsin (why he's got the bandana covering his face). And, some of the songs they worked on ended up on a Big Red Machine album, too. Taylor wrote the lyrics for Renegade on that album (and sang the lead for it). Dessner is a composer (in his band he's the lead guitarist); he sent a huge amount of music to Taylor in the evening of April 27th and went to sleep. He woke up to find that she'd sent Cardigan back at 2AM. She is insanely fast as a lyricist; and while Dessner gets writing credits on many of the songs, he mostly contributes the music that triggers her lyrics. Swift nearly always gives writing credits to her producers; just talking through the lyrics with them sparks her off in new directions.

I love the Long Pond sessions, she seems so relaxed and happy. And you can hear EXACTLY how good a singer she is, no effects, live. It's a mystery me that people say she can't sing 😮 Have you seen the intros to the songs where she talks about how she wrote them? Stellar reaction again... Good shout for Stevie Nicks, Taylor's a big fan 😊

The bridge is pretty incredible if you consider they're all different "string" metaphors: Out of all the wrong ARMS (arms wrapped around her holding her back imo) Wrapped my past in BARBED WIRE (another "rope/string") CHAINS around my demons WOOL to brave the seasons (thread of wool, protective covering) But the single THREAD (the most fragile-seeming "string" was the strongest and got her through.) Cheers! I think you'd love the full film only because she speaks on each song beforehand with her two producers (the musicians) so you really get to know the vibe of her and the album.

Thank YOU for taking us on this journey with you. I always look forward to your Taylor reactions, and YES YOU ARE RIGHT - you do have to react to every Long Pond performance! The whole thing is incredible and I love the interviews. It is more personal and intimate - maybe it's because Taylor directed it herself. Your Taylor rabbit hole has been so fun to watch. I think I've already given a million suggestions, so I'll hold myself back this time.

This song is about Joe Alwyn the guy that she was dating for 6 years. When she made this song and sang it at Long Pond studios her and Joe were still together and she was very happy back then. This song was part of her setlist on The Eras Tour but she took it out when they broke up

You should react to the Long Pond Session but the entire movie, just like you did with the eras tour. I think the experience isn’t fully captured if you react to individual songs.

I absolutely love this song ❤️💔❤️ you can see the love on her face and happiness in her smile. This one was for Joe. She cut it out of her Eras Tour lineup and switched it to The 1 💔 I love Travis SO much but, this stings a bit for me, I had such high hopes for Joe.

Please react to the Delicate music video! I'm and old-school fan that got butt-hurt and stopped following when she said the old Taylor was dead. But that video is what reeled me back in and reassured me she was the same unique artist I fell in love with.
