After about year 2000, I stopped taking the Academy Awards seriously - it is just a bunch of Hollywood insiders celebrating themselves. In my opinion, Godzilla -1 was better than the best picture winner, Oppenheimer. That one was a great film, but the pacing was not nearly as good. It was about 3 hours of constant exposition with too many flashbacks and flash forwards. It was just tiring to watch. However, Godzilla -1 had good pacing and time for the audience to reflect and take in the information. I hope that for now on, Takashi Yamazaki-san will be able to make whatever he wants with an even bigger budget.

The truth behind the birth of Godzilla. Godzilla was born from a report of an ocean-going tuna longline fishing boat from Yaizu Port, Shizuoka Prefecture, that was exposed to radiation from a hydrogen bomb test conducted by the United States at Bikini Atoll in the Marshall Islands on March 1, 1954. For Japan, which was recovering from its defeat in the nuclear bombing, Godzilla was a symbol that conveyed a message of anger and a threat to the world. This film is a remake of the first Godzilla film. So Godzilla was originally a hateful symbol and a warning to humanity. thanks from 🇯🇵🙇🏻♂️

As someone who watched Godzilla since childhood not only do I have no significant gripes with this film but also it’s literally a dream come true. Much like Peter Jackson gave us his gift of LOTR, so has Yamazaki given us a gift that will be long remembered. Once this film streams in the US I hope Toho reaps the benefits both financially and in terms of well deserved praise. The film wasn’t marketed nearly enough but this case proves that word of good content always gets out one way or another.

The film is called Minus One because post World War II left Japan in ruins. They had to start all over again from ground Zero to rebuild. Then Godzilla shows up and wrecks even more havoc. Sending them from Zero to Minus One! Even further back than before. -OG

As someone who has enjoyed Godzilla since the late 60s and seen all of them I will say this one is by far the best iteration of Godzilla EVER considering the budget. It brings back the OG-odzilla but with modern effects to make the big lizard more the Kaiju he was always supposed to be. Yes, this is the best, the crown has passed rightfully to the people that should have it. However, My all time favorite Godzilla movie is still the first one I ever watched, "Son of Godzilla". As for gripes about this version, I can honestly say that it was a PLOT necessity due I'm sure to budget constraints and that is; IJN Takao would have given a much better account of herself. At about 26-30 knots she was far faster then the small mine sweeper the cast was on and she would have NEVER stopped but led the G Man off to deeper water firing her aft guns. Also, she would have opened up OVER the horizon at about 12 Miles out, making Godzilla work for it, (or more likely diving and swimming off to go consider its life choices, and perhaps taking up macramé or more likely jumping some unarmed fishing trawlers like Yogi Bear on a Picnic Basket). But due to Plot and budget constraints IJN Takao got supper stop abilities and was forced to sit and become a Kaiju Scratching post. I'd have loved to have had her victorious at the first meeting and then sacrifice the ship later to keep Godzilla in open water for their plan or be laid up in drydock when the monster arrives, Godzilla sees it and we get a "I remember you, My Turn". Moment before our protagonist comes in to lead the Kaiju back out to sea. IMO any way. Bless and be well.

The brilliant idea to use the force of nature against Godzilla who is also a force of nature was definitely a unique point of the story. The foreshadowing of the deep sea fish coming up too fast to the surface where their stomachs explode out of their mouths. Will that same force of pressure have a similar effect on Godzilla? He's the unknown element. Born of nuclear energy. Fascinating plot. -OG

I saw it in the theater 4 times. The best theater cinematic experience since watching Terminator 2 in 1991. I tell people that it is a serious post-World War II drama about overcoming survivors guilt and rebuilding as a nation and individually which also happens to include Godzilla. A crazy combination, yes but it really works! The best thing about the film is that all characters - even the minor characters have very compelling story arcs.

Fun fact: Takashi Yamazaki the director of this film is a big fan of Godzilla, he also featured Godzilla as cameo in "Always: Sunset on Third Street" on 2005 and he is the director of "Godzilla the Ride: Giant Monsters Ultimate Battle" which have same design for Godzilla in this film

I'm a citizen of Hiroshima Prefecture. I will explain about the atomic bombing. The temperature at 8:15 a.m. on August 15, 1945 was not 30 degrees Celsius, but it instantly reached 3000 degrees due to the dropping of the atomic bomb. The situation at that time has been revealed by a follow-up survey that can be said to be the ongoing obsession of Hiroshima City. People within a radius of 1 km from the hypocenter boiled blood in the body instantly due to high temperature, blood vessels ruptured and died instantly. People within 1 kilometer outside it were caught in a building that collapsed by the blast and were stuck and burned to death while living due to the fire. In addition, in the outer 1-kilometer circle, people suffered for three days and three nights because they were exposed to the radioactive rain that fell immediately after the atomic bomb. At this moment, about 90,000 citizens lost their lives. In addition, American prisoners of war who were imprisoned in Hiroshima City also followed the same fate.

The mark on her neck at the hospital is a Godzilla cell. It's probably why she survived the blast. It helped to heal her. But this begs the question. What else would this Godzilla cell do? Will she mutate? Are there other victims who similarly contracted the Godzilla cell? I've also heard that the tattoo on her neck is a symbol for Mothra. Perhaps Mothra will be featured in the next movie? 🤔 -OG

Not a tattoo . the director said it was Godzilla cells.

The younger generation usually has a much shorter attention span compared to older generations when movies and TV shows had more dialogue and not like today where everything is quick and flashy. Like the Transformers films. I think we lose a lot of important pacing and context when we watch flashy films. It's important to be invested in a good story with good characters. We need to have the proper pacing to let our emotions sink in with the characters. Cinema just isn't what it used to be. -OG

Minus One is an incredibly good movie, not just Godzilla, but in general. GodzillaXKong is an incredibly FUN movie. You do realize Godzilla turned "silly" right after the original. That's the beauty of this franchise, it can be serious, scary, dramatic, exciting, fun, silly, etc etc. As a fan of Godzilla since the late 70s when I was a young child, I've seen it all, appreciate it all, and enjoy them all. Fortunately, elitist/purist attitudes are vastly outnumbered. I'm eleted Minus One has done so well, and I'm just as glad the Monsterverse is doing even better. You don't like it, fine, awesome, your choi- wait, you haven't even seen it yet, so you really don't know... heh. Whatever, deny yourself a different aspect of this very versatile franchise. Minus One was fantastic, but I had a LOT more fun watching GxK. You really CAN have it both ways.
@WillScarbroughYT6 ай бұрын
not seen Godzilla x Kong, but have seen the others (he mentions this I believe), so he CAN comment on what he thinks of that franchise and I believe the same. (although I love 2014, and enjoy King of Monsters) will be reacting to GxK next week
@RailfanJason6 ай бұрын
@WillScarbroughYT He said he hadn't and would not see GxK, that's what I was largely referring to. Not a problem with him commenting, but telling others to not watch them and that Hollywood should never make them is a bit much, especially after its massive success at the box office. Let people decide for themselves.
