Adam Ant "Goody Two Shoes" was a hit when I was in high school. Don't drink, don't smoke, what do you do? The video suggests hanky panky, as it were. [grin] The modulations in the second bridge are interesting.

In the early MTV days, back in the 1980’s, the creative, artsy type people had the edge. Folks discovered that they could hear and “see” their favorite musicians and songs. We wanted to be entertained in this new manner and performers like Adam Ant delivered.

It was about the UK media harassing him & famous people in general-the guys with the hats were playing journalists looking for juicy soundbites for their papers & probably implying he was gay. Quite a few well known faces in the video-Dandy Nichols from Till Death Do Us Part was the cleaning lady, Graham Stark from the Pink Panther films was the butler & former Bond Girl Caroline Munro was the brunette.

The sad thing was that Adam (real name Stuart Goddard) and his band were on a very demanding music contract, where they had to do so many performances and write so many albums in a certain time limit, and it was very mentally draining for them all. He never drank or did drugs, so the only thing he had to escape from the demands of work was to sleep with a lot of women. It all took its toll on him and he became extrremely depressed for a long time. But regardless of the difficult time he had, he is truly a great performer, and he's recently come back to making music.
