Ace, your responses are priceless! I'd enjoy seeing/hearing your reaction to Al singing "Jesus is Waiting," live on Soul Train.

Original is from the Bee Gees, in my humble opinion as a music fanatic, both versions are breathtaking pieces of mastered art.

What is amazing is this is a cover that he totally changed and made it so completely his own… and even took it to church

Al Green is one of my favorite singers ever. I'm from Detroit, and thankfully he played quite a few shows here between 2001 and 2016. I was able to see him live 3 times before he stopped touring. He's always incredible. He never lost his voice. He can still hit the high notes, and he's very proud of it. 🤣😂 My personal favorite is "For the Good Times". But I'd recommend anything from his greatest hits. You can't really go wrong.

Yes it's a Bee Gees song. Everyone on the planet knows who wrote the song. However he did it better than they did. I heard someone say that this was how the Bee Gee wanted to sound. It happens sometimes.

Another great soul singer. "Let's Stay Together" was Al Green's biggest hit. But he had a lot of great songs in the 70's including "Take Me To The River", "Tired Of Being Alone", "I'm Still In Love With You", "Love & Happiness", "For The Good Times" etc. He also became a pastor after facing a tragedy in his life (girlfriend's suicide) & performed gospel music for a time.

If you wanna hear some killer Al Green, in 1973 he appeared on Chicago's TV special "Chicago In The Rockies", you can see on KZbin a clip of Al Green in Chicago's studio with Chicago playing Al's "Tired Of Being Alone" and Al singing. Man, Chicago's brass & rhythm with Al's soulful voice, THAT is something to be seen and heard!

The original from the Bee Gee's is Awesome. But Al Green to it to another soulful level. They both killed it in my opinion.

Green was ordained the pastor of his church, but it was another three years before he gave up his pop music career; he fell off an Ohio stage in 1979 and viewed the incident as a message from God. Green then began recording and performing gospel music exclusively and has earned eight Grammy Awards in the gospel genre.

The tremolo, or slow vibrato, that you hear Al Green sing has always been a part of this song since the Bee Gees wrote and recorded it in 1971.
