Yes Andrea and Celine are the original performing artists of this song. They also performed it at the Academy Awards and Grammy's in the 90s. As David Foster said in the video, the two greatest singers in the world. Celine has sung every genre, from pop, ballads, R&B, soul, gospel, classical and even hip hop. Celine is special because she shares her soul when she sings and cares about her fans and audience. You don't so much listen to her voice as you experience it. She is so humble and kind and funny. A beautiful human being. who has given us a gift and one even future generations will receive.

MrLboyd - nice reaction. As others have said below, this song was actually written for Celine and Andrea and the song received world wide accolades. Celine was at a Lady Gaga concert and Lady Gaga recognized Celine and this song as one of the most beautiful songs she has ever heard. Celine, Andrea, John Legend and Lady Gaga sang a rendition of this with Lang Lang on the piano on a TV special to raise money during the pandemic when the world was in quarantine.

This was written by David Foster for these two. He was talking in the beginning. Celine is vocally one of the wonders of the world. Check her out singing I Am Calling You from the movie Baghdad Cafe. She can sing every damn style. David is a songwriter/producer genius. He’s written for so many- lots of R&B hits for Cheryl Lynn( To Be Real) Earth Wind and Fire ( after the Love Has Gone), Chaka Khan ( Through the Fire) , Peter Cetera of Chicago ( The Glory of Love), Boz Skaggs ( Love Look What You’ve Done to Us) and countless more!

Saw an interview with Celine. She said Andre wasn't going to make it to rehearsal so they got someone to stand in for him. Out walked Josh Groban. She felt sorry for this youn looking kid...until he started singing. He was magnificent, nailed it. Such a beautiful voice.

There was a performance scheduled for The Prayer and Andreas couldn't perform. So they tapped a then-unknown upcoming singer who had the chops for the part. His name was Josh Groban, and that performance of The Prayer helped catapult him to fame. While I know to the purists this is blasphemy, you should really, truly check out the most recent cover of note for The Prayer -- Pentatonix just released an a capella version of this in November of 2021 for their Holiday Album. You should DEFINITELY check them out to compare arrangements.
