Aurora said this about the song: “It’s quite a happy song… it’s been a while since I’ve had a joyful song so it feels very nice. It was inspired by something quite sad as I looked at the suicide rates on this planet and apparently 73% of them were men and then I thought, why is that the case? Then I realized, obviously, it must be because of the feeling that you can’t talk about your emotions and show that you’re in pain because pain is often associated with weakness but you know, here in my world it’s not, so the song is inspired by something quite sad but it is also happy because crying can be such a positive experience, especially afterwards when you actually feel a bit lighter. It’s about that feeling to let off some steam as they say here in England." (Copied from “AURORA AKSNES WIKI”)

@@inayahcee3131 Suicide is a crime, and you should never do it, but disrespect, aggression, and all the things wich take people to the dark places where they feel hopeless should be a crime also. There are emotional, social and economic motives (i won't call them reasons) for suicide, and gentleness and solidarity would shrink those numbers. I am glad you could manage it, i wish you and us all a very good life.

Hey! Ever since I started listening to AURORA and looking for all her clips on the tube it has also been interesting to follow all those who have reacted to her music and it has often been very different but never, never negative. It's like what AURORA never gives indifference to. Her wonderful and love for man and the earth feels so genuine. Have seen your reactions and you my friend count in my world as one of the best. You do not show very strong feelings, but what you show goes through the box for sure. Intelligent and understanding thoughts about her and her lyrics. Thank you so much for delighting us. Will have to come up with some suggestions later .... Now I have to work.. And yes i love the River since the my first hearing.

Thank You again also for this reaction. As always with Aurora there are several layers of interpretation, and nature is everpresent in these. But aren't the green twigs emotions demanding attention? And trying to block them by just cutting them is futile? The river is of course Life flowing in an unstoppable manner, providing the nourishment for the feelings. When running over the field the emotional experiences accumulate in a very beautiful way (the red leafs), and when we die we ARE the memory of our emotions. And, is it possible to interpret the final image anything else than as a cyclic return to the womb? :-) You know, this can just be my life experience applied to this song, but I think that is what it is for most people. Open for your own interpretation! What a true poet she is to invigorate this for almost everyone. On different levels and topics ... and yes, by the way: She is of course also unsurpassed in singing :-)

I remember reading anywhere that in her song she wants to empower the shy people in this world. Therefore, the plants coming out of auroras eyes are some pieces of ones character you "have to" restrict/hide. But your interpretation makes sense as well. There are so many possible ways of interpreting in auroras songs. Sometimes, that's confusing me, because I don't know what she wants to tell us. But on the other side she gives the listeners freedom in interpretation. And I sometimes ask myself, why, apart from the lyrics, her songs often sound very positive, but she is singing something sad. Does anybody know why? I suggest you Auroras song "All my demons greeting me as a friend". That's an unreleased song by her, as well as "Animal soul". And if you want to get to know Aurora much more, you should watch the documentary "once aurora". It's not for free, so you shouldn't react on it here.

I love that you're discovering Aurora bit by bit. But do yourself a favour and listen to all her 3 albums. They are stellar. I've had them on repeat for almost a year. Her live performances are top notch. If you have the chance to go to one of her concerts, do NOT miss that opportunity! (!). Went to her Oslo concert last October and that is honestly the best concert I've ever been to. Her band is amazing, but her presence is massive and absolutely energetic, filled the whole venue.

My take on the eye creepers are that they are a metaphor for tears and the scissors for hiding them. In the end the scissors are let go and the river flows from her eyes.... So... not to bury your sadness and keep it to your self.

Did you actually know she is the artist who inspired Billie Eilish to do music? Aurora is such a mood, my favourite female artist! If you're into her songs, I'm sure you'd like Alec Benjamin who is going with the same story-telling vibe, which I love (cuz he's my favorite male artist :3). I definitely recommend you "Boy In The Bubble" or "Annabelle's Homework" from him, if you don't know his stuff! Loves from France! Edit after hearing you talking about metal :3 : my favourite metal song is "Marching On Versailles" by Ad Infinitum, a brand new band from Switzerland and Germany. Such a bop!
