6:16 regarding your question about their position on stage, i think the main reason as to why Robin is always in the middle is probably because he doesnt play any instrument on stage (even though he can play multiple instruments himself such as the piano/keyboard, and guitar and i think the violin but im not sure if i remember that right ) so if Robin gets placed on the left or right and have Barry or Maurice in the middle, Robin would look like a back up singer. Another fun fact, out of the 3 bros, Maurice can play the most number of instrument(acoustic/electric guitar, bass, piano/keyboard/melotron/most instruments with keys, drums and a few others)

4:55 you mentioned falsetto, so a fun fact about the album that this song came from: the album is called Main Course, in this album they have a song called Nights on Broadway, when they were recording that thier producer at the time asked the 3 bros if one of the could do an adlib towards the end of the song to get them out of the main melody of the song so Barry volunteered, he started "screaming in tune". Thats when they found out Barry can sing in falsetto, they were so excited about that "New Voice" that they ended up writting a song specifically for that voice and the result is a song called " Fanny Be Tender (With My Love)" . you should react to it and might as well react to Nights on Broadway

They were born in the UK on the Isle of Man, then moved to England, but the three boys got in trouble with the law and a police officer suggested that they immigrate to Australia (which was part of UK then) to keep them out of jail. So just after Andy was born they immigrated to Australia and that's where they took their music seriously and became professionals and were discovered. Jive talkin came out in 1975 on the Main Course album. They didn't always set up with Robin in the middle but Robin rarely played an instrument while Mo and Barry often did and having Robin in the middle made the instruments more accessible for Mo and Barry I would think.

Hey there! I used to dance my butt off to this song as a kid and played the 45 rpm over and over again! To each his own, but my top 2 favorites are 1) "Fanny Be Tender with my Love", which was also the brothers' mom's favorite, I found out not long ago, and 2) "Nights on Broadway" which is just a great song! But I hope you react to Fanny be Tender next, it's hard not to sing along when you hear it! 💃🎵
@monstryyop2971 Жыл бұрын
It is common practice to do that. Anyone who has ever been in the studio at that time knows our vocals will be stacked. We ALL did it for effect. Been there done it!

... first single from their 1975 "Main Course" album. It was sort of a comeback song for them as they had been off the charts for a little while, and this comeback song went all the way to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The "Main Course" album is considered their bigger jump into R&B, and the start of their falsetto singing.
@MM-rd4wm Жыл бұрын
Robin said he was always in the middle because when they were little boys in one bed, Robin always slept in the middle 🥰 I think he was in the middle because Barry and Maurice played guitars so when they were around one mic Robin would kinda squeeze in the middle. And when they were playing electric guitars the cords weren't all across the middle of the stage.

The set up evolved and varied. I think Robin is more typically in the middle when Barry and Mo are playing instruments and he isn’t. This would be not only for the audience’s visual balance, but also to allow Barry and Mo better peripheral advantage with the band (and sometimes orchestra) during live performances. Examples of videos with Barry in the middle are Stayin’ Alive and How Deep Is Your Love. Their earliest video is a live tv appearance in 1960 right after starting to work professionally. They are about 13 and 10 years old.
@nelerhabarber5602 Жыл бұрын
Barry is also in the middle, when all three are playing instruments, like in someone belonging to someone, but you are absolutely right with your explanation, its logical!

I think all of the years with Mo and the bottle was probably the hold back. He has his own album. Not sure if there's more than one. He has a beautiful voice. Man In The Middle. Closer Than Close. Mo leads on these. When He's Gone. Mr Natural. I Can't See Nobody. Robin leads. Michael Jackson and Barry Gibb All In Your Name.

This was 1975 - first single released from the Main Course album - pre- disco. I agree Robin's fashion here could be better, but he often looks great with beret , tank tops, turtlenecks w/ medalion, mullet when it was cool. Robin was often the lead singer in the 60s and Robin & Barry fairly often share the lead & sing in unison. So Robin had a following from the early days (60s). To hear Mo, you may want to listen to Wildflower, Railroad & Lay it on Me. Railroad & Lay it on me. Mo has a beautiful lower range!
