If you were impressed with this fantastic lady playing this you must (either privately or reaction) see her playing Hungarian rhapsody No2 😲 she literally seems to have running spider legs for fingers, truly amazing and beautiful to listen to. Great job👏👏✌️

Nice that you mention the different sounds and feels of the piano. Beethoven actually corresponded a lot with the manufacturers of his day to develop the modern piano. When he was losing his hearing, the high pitches were first to go, and so his later music focused on the lower, deeper sounds on the instrument where he could still hear. But pianos were not as versatile as they are now, all because a composer/musician was going deaf!

Very wise programming choice!! You can't appreciate Tina S fully until you hear this on the keyboard! The 3rd movement of Moonlight Sonata is incredibly difficult...on ANY instrument.

Awwwww, I was expecting the entire sonata. This is like the 3rd movement of it or something. At some point listen to the 1st movement. It's breathtakingly beautiful, and will probably sound familiar to you.

great musical piece and great reaction. I would just like to point out that she's playing this all by heart from memory. She doesn't have any sheet music in front of her which shows the truly incredibly amount of practice she has put into this piece. Beethoven was an absolute genius!

Beethoven did at least 31 other sonatas, all of which are acclaimed. And this pianist has recorded many of them too. Her approach tends to be quick and crisp. A good example is her performance of the Piano Sonata no 2. Beethoven was a great pianist and took advantage of the new powerful pianos that emerged in his time.

I see a lot of suggestions for Tina S, and while yes for electric guitar, her performance is amazing, piano is the instrument meant to perform this piece, and Valentina has produced just about the most breath-taking performance of it you can find on KZbin. Her skill is undeniable.

For some reason this reaction popped up on my feed today - it was very refreshing to see some classical music reaction. Since you seemed a bit unclear on what movements meant, the easy explanation is that most classical works are fixed sets of 3-6 individual pieces called movements. So the 3rd movement of the Moonlight Sonata is the third piece in the Moonlight Sonata set (which incidentally only has 3 pieces). Doesn't have anything to do with difficulty, though a lot of composers liked to finish with a bang. The 1st movement of the Moonlight Sonata is probably more recognizable than the 3rd, but it's probably best listened to in front of a fire on a dark stormy night with your favorite brandy.

What amazes me is you have people who may listen to metal, or country, pop .. whatever .. and they may wave a hand at the mention of classical .. sniff .. and dismiss it as .. old, outdated etc. I think that says something about that person. Good music is good music .. great music is great whatever the genre .. I think too many people are so uneducated and ignorant that they simply have no idea that in Western music that people like Beethoven laid the foundation for the music that followed .. and very, very seldom has the junior excelled the master.

The piano is an instrument, that is easy to learn, but very hard to master. I sadly will never get over the learning part. What is your favourite music piece (classic)? For me it's probably Toccata in d minor. But "Allegro con brio" comes very close.

This is, of course, only the 3rd movement of the sonata. The rest is worth listening to, also. It's worth noting that the piano is a percussion instrument, the hammers are striking the keys, harder or softer depending upon how hard the keys are struck. Plus, the pedals allow notes to linger or be elongated (or not).

You started with the third and final movement. If you had listened to the first two movements you would appreciate the breath and depth of this masterpiece. He seems to get the depth of it, at least a little bit. She doesn't.

We can debate, but the reality is that this kind of fast playing is more for show off than what the composer original idea. You are losing interpretation at the cost of speed. I may like it, or it can be impressive to watch and listen, but it's not the version I would play to someone who should hear it for the first time.
