Christie Brinkley who played the Uptown Girl in the video was married to Billy Joel from 1985 to 1994 and they have one daughter. The style of the song was a tribute to Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. Frankie Valli had 29 Top 40 hits with The Four Seasons and another 9 as a solo artist. Billy Joel is such a great singer-songwriter from the 70's-90's. He is one of the best-selling music artists of all time. This song "Uptown Girl" is from his "An Innocent Man" album. It features his then model wife Christie Brinkley. Lots of great songs on it "Tell Her About It", "The Longest Time", "Leave A Tender Moment Alone", "Keeping The Faith", "This Night" etc. My favorite album is "The Stranger" album. All the songs are great including "Just The Way You Are", "Movin' Out (Anthony's Song)", "Only The Good Die Young", "She's Always A Woman", "Vienna", "Scenes From An Italian Restaurant" etc.

I love that he keeps the front row empty at his concerts, then he has his folks go up and grab some people from the worst seats in the nosebleed sections to fill the front row. 'Uptown Girl' he wrote about supermodel Christie Brinkley who he married in 1985. Sadly his touring schedule and her busy schedule doomed the marriage although they remain close friend's. 'Travelin’ Prayer' is another great tune from Billy.

Actually this is from Billy's album "Innocent Man," that was released right around the same time as Michael Jackson's "Thriller." I know 'cause those were literally the first two cassette tapes I went out and purchased on my own with my hard earned lawn mowing $ 😅 I purchased them together and as the first two albums of my possession I just about wore them out 😂 Billy was probably influenced by Franky Valley & the Four Seasons. At least that's what I here on this track. You should give their song "Oh what a night" a listen.

Not MJ influenced. A lot dancing started happening in videos in the 80's. It was the thing to do. An example was in a Pat Benatar video Life is a Battlefield. Pat did NOT dance and was forced to dance in the video because everyone else was doing it. They made simple choreography for her. She said she will never dance in a video again.

When this song came out, my dad was still driving me to school, and we'd listen to "my" music. When he heard this, he changed the words to "Uptown Frog." Now I can't hear anything else. Of course my dad liked the song, since it has a 1950s vibe.
