Billy Paul is my homeboy from Philly. He used to work security at Strawbridge & Clothier Dept. Store with my big brother. The hat he’s wearing on the album cover was made by my high school friend and classmate Betty Leacraft. He is in the TSOP (The Sound of Philadelphia) stable!

Bringing back memories. Straight up, senior year of high school got a friend's band to learn this song and sang it with them for the senior class talent show back in the early 1990s. There was a Mrs. Jones in my high school known as the hot teacher. I never had a class with her. She was just known as the hot teacher in our school. But the teachers in charge of the show said we could do it ONLY if we were good and not ashamed to say we were good with that song. No others, just this one. We won, and I gave the guys all the $200 prize money. They blew it on beer that weekend. Shoot. I'm gonna play it again since I was typing while listening.

Love Billy Paul. Let's Make A Baby is another Billy Paul classic you gotta react to. Fun Fact: his real name was Paul Williams but there was already a Paul Williams at that time with The Temptations so he reversed it and made his first name his last name and his last name his first name because Billy is short for William!
