Blood, Sweat & Tears is a jazz-rock music group founded in 1967. They are noted for their combination of brass & rock band instrumentation. Especially love their stuff when David Clayton-Thomas joined as their lead singer. They have had a lot of great songs such as "Spinning Wheel", "Hi-De-Ho" "Lucretia MacEvil", "I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know", "Go Down Gamblin'", "Lisa Listen To Me" etc.

Me, too! I absolutely loved this album- God Bless the Child was an entirely different world for me. I was first a HUGE fan of "Father is Child to the Man", the first, and completely different, incarnation of the band. Both versions had a genius...a savant...at every station. Al Kooper led the band and produced (some would say over-produced, though I loved it) the first album, which largely impressed me as a 14 year old, and the next iteration had David Clayton Thomas as the singer, and the lead trumpet player as the arranger, which changed everything. Wikipedia states that Fred Lipsius, the alto sax player did a lot of the arranging for the second album, but I have otherwise heard that it was one of the trumpet players, Chuck Winfield or David Soloff who did the heavy lifting. Jim Fielder the bass player, was, and still is, a God to me. And I am forever a devoted fan of Al Kooper, RIP.

BS&T and Chicago were my two favorite groups in high school. I saw BS&T at Carnegie Hall around 1970-71. The great jazz pianist Thelonius Monk was the opening act. GREAT concert. Bobby Colomby their drummer is amazing. Hard to pick between him and Chicago's Danny Seraphine. Lou Soloff, the lead trumpet, played with jazz great Maynard Ferguson, before BS&T.

These guys were among the top musicians in the country, David's voice and the horn section stood out, not that the rest of them weren't as good. I really liked Lew Soloff's (RIP), trumpet solos. He had a high range. Very high. I saw them live, in Hawaii, 70s. The group had many genres of music combined. Some soul and blues, too. But jazz, mainly.

This song is a very hopeful song that expresses that when we die...there is another birth in the world that will happen to carry on with Life or something we were doing to carry on with what we were doing. Deep..heh. Do the whole album. It's a masterpiece. Do 2 songs every time on a day of the week until you complete the entire album. Love your energy!!! Keep up the good work! That idiot who called you an idiot is an idiot....and in reality...WE are all idiots!!!! lol

This Band became famous in the late 1960s, and had continued success into the late 70s. There were the obvious comparisons to the Band "Chicago" but some subtle differences between them in style. Chicago was much more Rock than Blood Sweat and Tears. They both used the horn section, and both bands had top shelf musicians. Thanks
