Apparently someone ran into the Burnhams recently and asked his dad what he thought of the song. Apparently he listened to it like a thousand times the day it came out so safe to say I think he liked it.

I love this song so much. Not only does it fully encapsulate the 80's vibe, but after continually using his father's "dislike" of his jokes throughout his comedy routines he does a song that's idolizing him. Also near the end one of the lines is "My dad was happier than I am.", implying his dad in the mid 80s (I'm going to assume when he was 30) was enjoying his life more than Bo is currently.
@loganessex6992 жыл бұрын
Actually, as I typed that I was thinking of how this song is almost the exact opposite of "Face Time With My Mom". FT makes light of his mom's current bungling with technology, and this one talks about wishing he could be his father 5 years before he was born.
@MeganTheLibrarian32 жыл бұрын
Yes! The "my dad was happier than I am" line gets me every time! It provides that emotional whiplash that we've all come to love about Bo's work. I think the fact that this song is idolizing his dad is probably one of the reasons he didn't include it in the final cut. Because it would conflict with his stage persona's hatred of his father. Whereas Face Time With My Mom continues that theme with the "that's the deepest talk we've ever had" part. But that's just my theory
@lunabangtan72 жыл бұрын
I don’t think the song is necessarily idolizing him.

What’s so funny about this song is that I was in 2nd grade in 1985. I don’t know if “Thriller” by MJ came out that year, but it was the first tape I ever bought. Cabbage Patch Kids were also going dummy in 1985. I got one that Christmas and I held on to that doll that first night like it was treasure. I was a child in 1985 and no matter what else was going on, there’s still that childish innocence of the 80’s for me. The ad libs and some bars are hilarious because they poke fun of “white guy in 1985”, because it wasn’t all good. It’s fun to revisit those childhood memories, but it’s also good as a parent to say to my son “Stay gold, pony boy “. Stay young, don’t rush into adulthood before it’s time. You only get to experience the innocence of youth once, don’t rush it. (Now don’t push it either, don’t let your kids navigate this world naive! 🤣)

For Bo Burnham, The Future is short but sweet. I think you already did the Kanye Rant but I don’t think you’ve done Are You Happy, which is the follow up to it and is filmed in the same room as Inside. The alternate version of All Eyes on Me is great.

I was still little more than a twinkle in my dads eye in 1985. And by eye, I mean nutsack. And by nutsack, I mean a fish named Susan that lived a happy life for another 2 years before being digested by my dad. And by Susan, I mean the amino acids that make up the proteins inside her flesh that my dad’s intestines broke back down into amino acids before being re-assembled into new proteins that then went into said nutsack via bloodstream. I gotta stop commenting on videos while high. Sweet reaction though!

This video is so ironic. Bo literally has a section in his special where he shows how stupid and mindless the reaction content is and how they just steal the hard work of others and play it off for views adding nothing. Just speaking reassurance of reaction and feeling of what it was like to first experience it. Just why?
