I was born in the 50s when Rock N Roll was just getting a good foothold .My mother grew up listening to big bands and swing type music, and classic country on the radio. She graduated during WWII. She would tell me how much grandma complained about music changing too much and too fast for her to keep up with it.I think listening in the 40s and 50s without the benefit of TV would have seemed like a big jump when suddenlly you had visual stimuli daily instead of just when you went to the cinemas. I remember when this song came out and also thought how music was changing so much.We had went from just straight simple categories of rock, county,or Motown, and now we had subcategories and new genres to the point that older folks were feeling the brunt of evolution again. You're correct when you say it is the same now, just a different day.Except now I think a lot of people feel over stimulated or over=whelmed all the time .

Shon let me tell you this was my first concert. My parents listened to him all the time and I fell in love. I was turning 10 and Bob was coming and my Dad had a friend who was security for the show. He told us to come down and he got us in equipped with Purple VIP ribbons and this song when it came on the fans went crazy. Are seats were chained together due to a riot at the Alice Cooper concert. We're dancing on the seats and our row literally tipped back to the second row and they pushed us back and we rocked on. I walked around with a smile for weeks and I saw him again 2 years later for Against the Wind tour which was just as amazing. BTW this song was featured in the movie Risky Business which most of my generation has seen 😂 Try April Wine just between you and me, I think you would love it. Great reaction as usual my friend and Peace out 🙏 ✌️ ☮️

There was a battle going on in the late 70s, There was Rock and Roll through the 50s 60 70s but Disco came on mid 70s and people basically had to pick a side Rock or Disco. Hardcore Rock people hated Disco and vice versa. Bob was on the rock side of things and missed when just Rock ruled (and Motown which also had great backing bands). Disco was more synthesizer/electronic and less instrumental as a whole. I think most of us from the era now have come to like both but for 6 or 7 years it was a competition until Disco died out. In 1979 they even had a Disco Demolition night promotion to draw fans at a White Sox(they sucked at the time) game in Chicago, where people could bring their disco records and they blew them up on the field which turned into a disaster a riot and a forfeit. Check out this video. Its hilarious. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nqLFgYaBeNyXpNk

I always loved the lyric "Don't try to take me to a disco. You'll never even get me out on the floor. In ten minutes I'll be late for the door...". In other words, after hearing that awful "music" that's 10 minutes I'll never get back.

Risky Business. I rode the trains all night in Chicago looking for Rebecca.
There's tons of bad music made in every era. What happens over time is that only the songs that hold up get remembered. Of course the top 10% of songs from the 70s or 80s are better than the average song today. Once all the trash is filtered out, give it another 30 years, and there'll be people insisting this era now is way better than anything being put out "nowadays", and it'll mostly be true. Again, the songs that manage to last will be better than the average pop trash that gets mass produced, consumed, and forgotten.
