I believe Jon Bon Jovi is Canadian. My son listened to him a lot back in the day! Crow, I still know the lyrics to most of his tunes. Twisted Sister too! lol. It was osmosis from hearing them over and over for months, through the walls of his bedroom I think! My younger daughter it was Backstreet Boys. I can sing 'Quit Playing Games With my Heart' like a pro! haha!

I remember when this song came out. Everyone knew it was an instant hit. I love songs that build and you can feel from the beginning intro the excitement building. The chorus hits you hard and makes you scream the lyrics! The song continues and right when you think the building of the song can not get any bigger there is a key change for the ending and the build is enormous! We played this song in pep band and for first trumpet they were the highest notes I have ever tried to hit!

Hey from Toronto Canada, Shon!!!!! I'm glad you did this reaction to Bon Jovi. They have been kicking ass for such a long time. Jon Bon Jovi had the best voice. I haven't really listened to them lately (2024) to see if he still can sing but I heard some people say that he has lost his voice which is sad but I'm not surprised. They can only be on top belting out the tunes for a while before it really does a number on their vocal chords. Having saying that though, they were around since the 80's, so it has been a long fun time for these guys. If you really enjoyed the sound of using the squawk box , or Talk Box,,,,, you need to listen to Peter Frampton live doing "Do you Feel like we do". I think he was not the first person to ever us it but he was one of the first use it so well. He did it so well that you could hear his voice coming through his guitar super clear. It is worth a listen to him. Not only could he use the Talk Box he was one Hell of an amazing guitarist.

Imo..Bon Jovi is like the number 2 top Anthem Rock, rock bands. Queen is number one. Put this song in any arena and watch the crowd go in. Even if they never heard it, they'll know the chorus and scream at the top of their lungs to it. The lead singer, Jon Bon Jovi is so much more than a singer. He has been a very busy philanthropist. He's helped organize community resources for those struggling, opened "pay it forward" type restaurants to help feed the hungry. Amazing man.

Bon Jovi was huge in the 80’s! I was in high school at the time, and there was always Bon Jovi blasting out of someone’s car. Takes me back every time! You need to listen to “Wanted Dead or Alive”. It’s probably their second biggest hit, among many. As far as bands floating around around on strings while performing, Van Halen also comes to mind. 😁

The cool sound you hear is called a talk box, it takes the guitar sound and sends it through a tube that is attached to the microphone and the player brings the sound into his mouth and shapes it like singing or talking. This was a signature sound for Bon Jovi.

Their shows are sheer rock music. I’m a concert girl. Musically, Bon Jovi was in top 3 shows I’ve been too. I’ve been to hundreds. Jon is an entertainer. Ritchie on lead guitar is terribly underrated, plus his back up vocals are just perfection. Alex was a great base player but these guys are NJ Italians (as I am) and you don’t tell tales on the family. David on keyboard give a Journey vibe and Tico on drums give the music a heartbeat. No they are not the first band to fly. KISS started that, I think. The sound at the beginning you referred to in the beginning is a talk box connected to guitar with a tube that you talk through to make you voice sound like the instrument. There are 40 years of songs from them. Keep going!!!

Van Halen was the first I recall to do a similar film clip. David Lee Roth floating above the stage just like this. Have a look for "Panama" and enjoy. Fun fact: Jon Bon Jovi is the nephew (or great nephew now that I think about it) of Frank Sinatra... who is referred to as "The Chairman Of The Board" as a sign of respect from fans and peers alike.

Let me tell you a strory! when I was 14 and hanging out on the Jersey Shore. I was at a bakery standing in line and I turned around and Jon Bon Jovie was right behind me in line. He had just started out and he was there in jean shorts and nothing else. We knew who he was. I freaked out of course because I was 14! I talked to him in line and it was amazing!

At 4:09 you see the guitarist (Richie Sambora) with a tube like object in his mouth. He makes the sound and it's connected to the guitar. Jon was a Superman fan, his inspiration for the flying around the stage. The tour after this they had a catwalk above the audience. But not since then they havent done something that exciting. Maybe a small stage in the audience where Jon pops up onto for a song.

This has been my absolute favorite band since I was 14 years old...I'm 50 now. This song dominated Dial MTV for sooooo long. Bon Jovi took the 80's by storm. Love these guys!!! That thing is a Talk Box….the guitar player is using it. It’s an effects pedal at his feet that’s plugged into his guitar. He uses the the tube that runs up to his mic from it to modify the sound.

Jon Bon Jovi. Rick Sambora, and I can’t remember the other names. Livin on a Prayer is lit. Rick is doing the sound on a separate mic. I was 18 in 1985. This video got played on MTV constantly. Everyone at my college dorm knew to yell when they came on. 😂 Slippery When Wet was the album. Any song of that album. You Give Love a Bad Name is great also, Wanted Dead of Alive, It’s my Life from the 90s., Runaway, Bad Medicine, I’ll Be There for You, Lord I can go on and on. Try them all.
