Your story sounds almost exactly like my Wife and I. I was a huge Bread fan and I played it in the car (On my 8-track as well), in my dorm room, etc. Bread added an element of romance to our limited dating (I was in College and she was still living in her small town, 100 miles away. We met on a blind date in 79. We got married in 1980 and I still pull out the best of Bread (now on CD) ever so often. My Wife still loves it as well.

David Gates' solo hits are great. Goodbye Girl won a grammy for the movie, and His solo song Clouds is great. Something else you might not have known, Larry Knechtel, who played base and keyboards for Bread, also played piano on Simon and Garfunkel's great hit Bridge Over Trouble Waters. Larry also won a grammy for that performance.

I was a teenage girl when they were popular. I used to go roller skating on Sundays, and Bread was awesome to skate to. I learned to play their songs on the piano and when friends got married, one of their chosen songs was "IF". Thanks for the memories. 🥰

My teen years were spent entirely in the 70s. Good times. Great music. The beginning of SNL & Midnight Special. Bread was a favorite of mine...I wore out my 8-track tape! It doesn't look like you've reviewed "Diary", which you absolutely must. And when you do, make sure you stick with it to the end, hopefully without interruption. Larry Knechtel joined the band in 1973 and provided a step up in musicianship! He was a member of the famous wrecking crew in LA a fantastic group of musicians hired to perform on records for artist from all different genres and he had done it for about 10 years before joining Bread!

The 70s were a BLAST as a teen .But now I'm a Born again Christian and i want other people to know his love for them. He died on the cross to forgive all our sins past present and future sins took a way all our shame and guilt But he commands everyone to turn to him though .And when you do you will have so much peace knowing that your past present and future is all forgiven but only if you put ALL your trust in him and in him alone I have a lot of peace knowing I'm going to be with him forever And not spend eternity in Hell were we all belong Because we have ALL broken His laws the 10 commandments But when you put all your trust in him and not in our self's He forgives you of everything .Thats how much he loves us. This will be the best news you will ever hear IF you put all your trust in Him ALONE .Have a great day take care.

I was a Christian before I served, but the wonderful music was one of the reason's I survived Vietnam. I've already lost many of my shipmates from that time, and they were good friends. LET me put it this way to youI was born in 1960 I was raised in Kodiak Alaska. it was my and still is my faverite place on the planetI have 1 brother and 2 sisters that i grew up with we lived by a very pretty lake walked it in the winter and fished it in the summer We had great seafood my dad had a very nice 72 foot shrimp boat we ate very very well salmon halibit cod my mom was a fantst cook the people in Kodiak where great the bisnnesse flurished the bars were jam packed with people because of the great econemy I had good friends good places to eat THE MUSIC WAS OUT STANDING Not like most of the last 30 years of mostly CRAPI moved down To seaside Oregon with my family where we were be for kodiak from 1965 till 1977I had my first job at bumble beea Tuna in Astoria Oregon its no longer there inhad mfirst aprtment i made a good living had a very good time in Asoria its very pretty aswell ,so in my case the 60s and 70s were FANTASTIC WHERE i lived the crime was VERY VERY VERY LOW AND ATE VERY WELL now then lets talk about the 80s with all the AIDS CASES BRAKING OUTIN 1981 WITH THAT LOL THE CRIME WAS WAY worse in the 80s i was in my 20s in the 80s But getteing back to Christianity i know when i die im going to be in HEAVEN with my REDEEMER the Lord Jesus Christ very soon And heaven will make the 70s look very as any decade for that maters but i thank Jesus Christ often for putting me in the 60s and 70s when he didand were HE DID i know was very blessed and still am

ANOTHER GREAT REACTION! I grew up in the Tulsa area during the 60's/70's , so David Gates and Bread have ALWAYS been a favorite music experience for me! There are no bad Bread songs. "Down On My Knees" is a personal favorite and another one that always makes me smile (although I don't think it was released as a single, but is on one of their albums) is "Truckin' ". (As I recall, it came out during the time when the American public became enamored with cross country truckers and CB radios!. I hope you can check it out.
