One of the greatest classic soft rock bands of the 70s. Loved their music, songs & voices, grabs your soul 🫶 I’ve cried listening to this song remembering my father who spent time teaching me things, so fitting…I feel this way when the song says “no one could ever know..the part of me that can’t let go” being a Daddy’s girl it crushed me to the core, I literally felt lost, alone & on shaky ground. I miss being able to talk to him about my concerns, and listen to his advice, it was invaluable 🫶

He has one of the most soothing & mellow voices. They had so many hits such as "If", "Make It With You", "Baby I'm-a Want You", "Lost Without Your Love", "It Don't Matter To Me", "The Guitar Man", "Sweet Surrender", "Diary", "Aubrey" etc. In 1978, Gates enjoyed success as a solo artist with the hit singles "Goodbye Girl" (from the movie The Goodbye Girl) & "Took The Last Train".

He was a good man, a Christian man, and I know he is in heaven. He was a single father to me & my sister and it was like losing two parents when he died. I was lucky enough to be able to tell him what a wonderful father he was and how thankful I was for him. A lot of people don't get that chance. Tell the important people in your life that you love them while you have the chance. Good review-you got the message :-)

I was 10 when I bought my first 45, "Seasons in the Sun" by Terry Jacks. 50 years later, it's Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds "Murder Ballads", death never goes out of style. It’s been several days and I simply do not have a worthy comment, but I agree with all of yours. Early in our 41 year 7marriage I took my wife to see Bread for her birthday. I’m now 64; she is 63 and that gift is still paying dividends.! 😊

Sitting here listening to your beautiful words, I can attest to them all. I'm 70 yrs young & yes, life is short. Think carefully about your decisions, you can't take the hurt back once it's done.
