Definitely recommend checking out their "Festa room live" it's a small live medley video they filmed for their 8th debut anniversary, they performed a song from each year from 2013 till 2020 and it's an amazing showcase of their live vocals and rapping skillss and how diverse, genre wise, their discography is through the years!

You’ll always be surprised by BTS. I’m also a BP fan but BTS just does it for me lol. BTS has 3 rappers and 4 vocalists. Two of the rappers have an underground rap background. BTS also writes and composes almost all of their music. The rappers are credited with writing and producing over 100 songs each! They never stick to one genre either. I can have BTS discography on repeat forever Bc every song sounds like a different artist. If you like them I would suggest watching On: Kinetic Manifesto Film Mic Drop UGH (rappers) Outro: Tear (rappers) also watch live performance at Wembley “Agust D” by Suga or Agust D (solo rap project) There are sooo many more as BTS has over 300 songs now but literally everything they put out is amazing so you can’t really go wrong. They also have 3 songs in English (Dynamite, Butter & Permission to Dance) however they are very poppy and may not be your taste but you should still check them out! They might surprise you :) Also YES, Jimin (blue hair) is a trained contemporary dancer so you weren’t wrong!

i hope you read everything i am writing in this comment. black swan is about the fear of losing their passion for music. In the art film version of BLACK SWAN, the music video starts with the quote, "a dancer dies twice-once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful.” black swan is about facing the fear of a point in time if their music and performance do not give them the same level of meaning and excitement for them as it did earlier. The same thing that brings them fulfillment and happiness could be the very thing they fear the most. it is a pretty dark song but as they keep on expressing their fear, the second half of the song talks about the point where they suddenly wake up from their trance in the studio and realise that music is the only thing that they have. they state that they won't let this fear devour them and make them lose their passion. the members compose, produce, write their own music too. i remember one of the members RM stated he had cried while writing the lyrics for this song. also the auto tune in this track is intentional. the use of auto tune is to match the emotive element of creepiness and sadness in this song. some may find it absurd some may find it cool. again it's music and highly subjective. if u want to hear a less auto tune version. you can watch its live version for the jimmy fallon performance kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWKQpHmkYs9oepI for more rap songs, you can react to -ddaeng -outro: tear -cypher parts 1, 2, 3, 4 -outro: her -hip hop phile a lot more actually but these are a few of my favourites i believe. always make sure to check out the lyrics. so for these songs u can react to the DIAL 6137 channel for lyrics or refer to DOOLSET BANGTAN website.

@@MugnifyRTS To add to this explanation, the “shadow” here is an extension of Carl Jung’s psychological concept of the Persona, Shadow, and Ego. This entire concept is the inspiration behind their Map of the Soul series. BTS music is incredibly complex. Each song often is inspired by at least one literary work of past writers.

Is he rapping? Oh you have no idea, BTS has 3 rappers and 2 of them were underground rappers in South Korea before joining BTS and all 3 rappers (RM, Suga, and J-Hope) have their own solo mixtapes where they go hard. The 3rd rapper J-Hope actually was a street dancer before joining BTS and only learned to rap after joining the group. BTS roots is actually hiphop and it's only over time their sound has expanded and evolved. That was Jimin doing all the contemporary dancing. Would you believe only 2 out of the 7 members actually studied dance before joining BTS. I'm really happy your first exposure to BTS weren't their fully English songs. And it's not because they aren't good but they are very upbeat and poppy which is what people expect when they first listen to BTS. But BTS discography has over 250 songs covering various genres and lyrical content. They only have 3 fully English songs (Dynamite, Butter, and Permission To Dance) that were made to cheer up up people around the world because of the pandemic since they couldn't go on their world tour in 2020. A lot of people know these songs but didn't realize they were BTS songs. And only 1 member (RM) speaks English fluently, they all know some English though and a few of them are taking lessons. BTS officially debuted in 2013 with 7 members Jin age 29 vocalist, Suga age 28 rapper, J-Hope age 27 rapper, RM age 27 group leader and rapper, Jimin age 26 vocalist, V age 26 vocalist, and Jungkook age 24 vocalist. They pretty much came from a small and almost bankrupt company in South Korea where all 7 members had to share a bedroom, now that same company is worth billions. I hope you will react to more BTS and learn more about them because even if their music isn't someone's preference their story is very inspirational. I would recommend Mic Drop, Fake Love, or ON kinetic manifesto film come prima (it's a dance focused video). Thanks for the reaction.

If I’m right; the excessive use of ‘autotune’ is actually all their voices mixed together as they wanted it to sound them as one. This is a song of their map of the soul:7 album, which is a very meaningful project to them since they were together for 7 years. So it’s a very wholesome styling choice 😊

Honestly you need to check out back swan dance practice video, it's insane. Most of the members have trained the entire career mostly in hip-hop/ street style dancing since its the most prevalent dance form in K-pop boy group choreography. Out of all the members only one member (Jimin) has background in contemporary dancing. I can't even imagine how much the members much have practiced in order to perfect the choreography knowing that 6 out of the 7 members have zero experience in contemporary style. BTS is a group almost 9 years into their career, they were literary under zero obligation to work so hard just for one dance performance. They easily could have taken an easier route and do a more basic K-pop choreography for black swan, like most groups would have done, but they still went above and beyond. My respect for the members increased so much when black swan was released. Black swan is undoubtedly the best contemporary style choreography I have seen in K-pop.

I can't tell you much about this song but I will tell you what I know. So there's a movie called "black swan" and this song is inspired by that movie. I don't really know what the movie is about but if I'm not mistaken it is about a ballerina? She was a white swan but turned into a black swan because of some tragedy(you can clearly see how they keep switching their clothes from white in the beginning and to black in the ending of the video even during the entire video actually. And also this song is inspired by the quote that says "a dancer dies twice, first is when they stop dancing. and the first one is the most painful" -Martha Graham. If you see the lyrics 1:35 and after that actually you can see that they're trying to say that they're scared for losing their passion in music. Somehow feeling empty towards the thing you most passionate and excited about can be scary. They afraid that this is the time that they won't love music/dance anymore. And also in 1:35 and 2:37 their shadows didn't follow them. Perhaps it was an inner side or soul? Idk I can't really remember. And also in 6:01 you can see where Jin was looking at the mirror and when he turned back to look at the camera, all of his reflections didn't move. And again, sorry because I can't really remember but some fellow armys told that Jimin is the main character in this video( 0:56 , 0:59 , 1:53 , 3:07 , 4:51 , 6:03 , 6:13 the one who danced there and in the entire spotlight kind of shadow? Idk and until 6:40 he completely turned from the white dancing Jimin to black dancing Jimin). This is one of the reasons why armys love bts music. Because it is not a simple music. They connect with us telling their story through music which is a masterpiece. That's why lyrics and visuals are important. Again sorry for my long comment. But if you keep being open minded and do not have any prejudice towards bts you'll actually like their song. "If you listen to our music without prejudice, you will like them" - Suga BTS

Actually, they use autotune in this song to show the group's shadow (they're deepest collective fears/secrets) vocally, the fear being that they would fall out of love with their craft. 2:50 I actually love that you pointed out the "autotune"! The members and their producers are musical geniuses so everything is there for a reason. The "autotune" and layering of their voices makes the message of the song that much stronger. This song was about all 7 of them and their fear of losing their passion/love for performance and music so the layering, overlapping voices/adlibs really pull it all together to show their emotions. Black Swan is a masterpiece to say the least!

Kpop in general goes all over the place on genres, not only because what we know as kpop is more a whole industry (the idol industry) than a simple genre but also because plenty of the songs are a fusion of genres. It's customary on Korean music shows to "introduce" the songs by telling what styles and themes they cover, and their music sometimes needs a list of ten genres to be described 🤣 BTS in special is a band in which I believe both the concept and music has developed over their career reflecting their personal growth. From passionate teenagers who thought they should look and behave in a certain way to be "cool", to mature global artists who feel they have a responsibility over the use they give to their platform. I'm a new-ish ARMY (around three years on this journey) but they shared so much that it's not hard to go back and follow their path to see them and their music grow

To get a well-rounded idea of their music, check out "BTS Room Live 2021." It includes some of their hiphop, rap, pop, funk, and other styles in a 10 minutes medley. Thanks for this reaction.:) BTS is consisting of three rappers and four vocalists. And all seven of them are excellent dancers. They do a wide variety of music, but basically they are rooted in hip-hop. All seven members are participating in making their songs by writing, composing, and producing them. Black Swan is a song that expresses their fear of losing their passion for music. BTS members said they felt scared and pressured because they suddenly became world famous around 2018. So they were thinking about disbanding, and nevertheless, after a year of hard time thinking, they decided to think only about their fans and themselves and move forward. The albums that have been released since then are the Map of the Soul series. The albums are filled with songs that reconsider their inner self, the relationship between the seven members, and the relationship between them and fans. Boy with Luv contains a message that they will fly toward fans, not the sun, with wings attached by ARMY. And after listening to Black Swan, you can better understand how they feel by reading On's lyrics. :) If you're interested in BTS' other songs, I recommend.... Mic Drop Blood sweat & tears FIRE On kinetic manifesto film Save me→I'm fine Daechwita(Agust D 대취타, Suga's solo) These are pretty different from Butter or permission to dance or Dynamite.(Only these three songs are fully English. These three songs have been written in English since the Pandemic to give energy to people around the world.) And, all of their music videos provide English subtitles. :) Their lyrics are very deep and beautiful. Or, I think it would be good to follow a story line. DNA: Joy of fateful love → Fake Love: Realizing that love was a lie → IDOL, The Truth Untold, Epiphany, Answer Love Myself: To love other people completely, you should love yourself first. These are included in Love Yourself Trilogy. They make a wide variety of genres of music like Hip-hop, Ballad, R&B, pop, EDM, etc. I'm sure there're quite a few of their 300 songs that suit your taste. :)

Thanks for the reaction. BTS debuted in 2013, within the hip hop genre, but they are so versatile that within their discography as a group and their solo songs you can find almost all genres. They are 3 rappers and 4 vocalists, having the best rap line and one of the best, if not the best, vocal line in the industry; they also have two great dancers, the best, one of them whose specialty is contemporary dance and who stood out in this video. Although in their company they have their own creative team, in all their albums there has been participation of members in composition, writing and even production of their songs; all have composition and writing credits, although in greater quantity the rap line. They have always had creative freedom so they deal with issues such as mental health, self-love, empowerment of young people and women, bullying, social injustices, etc; in 2020 and 2021 they released 3 songs in English with the intention of supporting us and cheering us up during the pandemic. Last November they received the Artist of the Year award at the American Music Awards (and 2 more), they are nominated for a Grammy for the second time; they have participated 3 times in the UN General Assembly. They are the most important and recognized group in the world; the fandom is the largest in history and also diverse since you find people of different nationalities, languages, ideologies, genders and ages (very important because there are from very young children to grandparents and great-grandparents, since most of us are older than the boys ). If you liked them, there's a lot to see because their discography is very extensive, but to begin with, you can enjoy their voices live at the Tiny Desk or their MTV Unplugged presentations.

BTS impress in music videos but truly shine in their live performances. They do so consistently that you could pick any of their lives and see that for yourself. As you’re just getting to know them, I’d recommend their stripped back performances like 1. Tiny Desk concert - 3 songs approximately 14 minutes long 2. I always recommend 'Mic Drop' as an early listen on the BTS journey. It's definitely rap-based, J-Hope (one of the 3 rappers) eats the beat in both choreo and rap. The English chorus helps people wary of listening to Kpop because of the language barrier, but also shows off the skills the rap-line have rapping in their native tongue. Butter, Dynamite and Permission to Dance are all English and very successful, however many people start there and write them off as bubblegum, pastel, stereotypically kpop without delving into their Korean stuff at all. I was introduced to BTS through Mic Drop, and I will always show that song to anyone interested in finding out who BTS are.

This video is definitely a reference to the ballet Black Swan. It was inspired by a quote by one of the most famous dancers in history Martha Graham : “a dancer dies twice- once when they stop dancing, and this death is the most painful”. This song is about the fear of losing passion for your art. There is a theme from when you start as innocent and switch to dark when you get obsessed at being the best in both the famous ballet and movie version of black swan. The members of BTS switch back n forth from wearing black and white outfits throughout the music video. At the end though Suga says he comes to his senses and regains his passion.

Yessss BTS does waaaaay more than pop. I'm pretty sure you know that a lot of their releases lately have been Pop but even in their recent albums, they still have a lot of hip hop and rap but it isn't promoted as much as their Pop songs. They're what we call a Trojan Horse for the general public to be interested in BTS and eventually, you fall in love once you explore the BTS rabbit hole. What's really cool about this group is that they can do any genre and actually make it good. They aren't exploring them anymore because they're already good at it. I'm sure you're really going to enjoy this journey seeing the many many many different sides of BTS. If i may suggest, try watching the BTS Room Live Festa 2021 to get an idea of how diverse they are but take note, even after this, there are way more genres that they didnt cover in that video. You are in for a wild ride hehe

BTS MV, dance practices, and live performances require individual reactions to truly appreciate their work and personality. Btw, if you like Blackpink you will definitely love BTS. They debuted in 2013 with their single "No More Dream". So it's going to be a long ride BUT it will not disappoint! BTS is a genre on its own. The group is made up the vocal line and the rap line. The 7 members also got solo songs within the group. From their earlier work check out : No More Dream, Boy In Love, N.O, Bulletproof, Danger, War of Hormone, Spine Breaker, Dope, Save Me, Fire, Go Go, Baepsae, MIC Drop, Mikrokosmos, So What, Not Today, Airplane pt.2, Boy With Love, Idol, Blood Sweat and Tears, Life Goes On, ON Kinetic Manifesto, Fake Love, Idol, DNA. Rap line: Ddaeng, Tear, Ugh, Cypher 1-2-3-4 Vocal line: Truth Untold, Dimple, Zero O'clock, Pied Piper JK: Euphoria JIN: EPIPHANY JHope: Chicken Noodle Soup RM: Joker Agust D/ Suga: Dachewita, See saw V: Singularity, Stigma Jimin: Filter, Serendipity, Lie DKDKTV has a few explanation videos on some of their songs.

BLACK SWAN - contains meaningful, DEEP lyircs. Such an underrated song. It is inspired by the quote “A dancer dies twice - once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful." by Martha Graham. This song talks about losing one’s passion. Artists don’t talk about that often. It dives deep into the group's fears as artists. BTS contends that the day that music no longer fills them with the same passionate fire as before, or even if there came a day when they stopped creating music - what they feel is their life's purpose - it would feel like death. Two Filipino songwriters, August Rigo and Vince Nantes, composed and wrote lyrics for “Black Swan,” alongside BTS leader RM, multiawarded producer Pdogg and rapper Clyde Kelly. More about it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hoPHhIukd9ael80

I've seen a couple people do their own rap version of Black Swan and I like them all lol. BTS did a video for Glamour where they watched fan covers of their songs. One guy they reacted to was Cameron Philip K doing his own english rap version of Black Swan. And the BTS rappers praised his rapping skills, they liked his version a lot. And yes BTS does watch people's covers of their songs on their own time, they also sometimes watch people's reaction videos to their songs like these haha. BTS originally started as a hiphop group. A big bulk of their older songs are very much rap and hiphop. Autotune is always used for stylistic purposes, as they all can actually sing very well (even the rappers can sing when they have to haha). 2 of their rappers were underground rappers before joining BTS. 3rd rapper was professionally trained in hiphop dancing before he started rapping with BTS. The 3 rappers of BTS have their own sub-unit called the rapline. You should do some rapline songs if that's your preferred genre. They made four Cyphers. No music vids, but you can react to the color-coded lyric vids. They tell you who is rapping which part - color of the lyric text coincides with the color of the name of rapper. Then you MUST also react to their Cypher Medley live performance, as they sound even better live than in their recorded tracks. You could do all four cyphers + live performance all in one reaction if you want. Here's the link for the live performance: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fIWcZGOOe5apsKM The 3 rappers also have made and produced their own individuals mixtapes. They sink in millions of dollars to make their own rap solo stuff and they release it all for free. That's how much their care about music/fans and respect their craft. Their mixtapes and solos are very worthy of your perusal.

Welcome to BTS world! I think you will really like it because there is so much to see, all different! You started with one of their artsy theatrical videos but you’ll find so much that’s more hip hop or more pop. Some older stuff with even some rock, even some with Latin vibes. There’s just so ouch versatility in their work. And the dance moves, oh you’ll be blown away by choreography in their other videos. Their English/Korean song Boy With Love is featuring Halsey, I believe that’s the first song that aired in American radio. Their full English songs Dynamite, very much homage to 70s/80s Michael Jackson inspired, it’s one of 2020’s biggest hits. 2021 was Butter, very funk R&B. But going waaaay back they were young teens coming out as a hip hop group back in 2013, their debut song is No More Dream. I love their songs but the choreo gets me so awesome so ON Kinetic Manifesto is a great video. They also performed it at Grand Central Station on Jimmy Fallon. They have 3 rappers so most songs will have rap in it. They also have solo rap projects as two of them were rappers first. Third rapper was a street dancer first. There’s a ton to learn about BTS, I think you’ll enjoy the ride. And I subscribed to join your journey.

BTS are phenomenal singers/dancers and do actually use auto tune in the way it was intended, as an augment and not a crutch. As many singers are heavily reliant on it and couldn’t sell songs without it. I’m sure you may be aware of a few. With them it’s like adding a sprinkle of pepper to your food. There is ample live performances that they do not, nor do they need to. Try some of their songs.

The autotune is proposital, the song is based in the movie Black swan tells the story about wanting to be so perfect to the point of starting to have illusions, and here they putt the autotune to create this feeling of illusion, of not knowing who is singing, like is all of them singing as one voice

The first rapper, Suga, write this song. They have touched pretty every genre at this point. I too highly recommend the 2021 room live. Snippets of songs from 2013-2021 live. Plus you get to see their personalities and talent. Also On Kinetic Manifesto. Good mix of vocal and rap line and the dancing is bomb. Was choreography is done by the first girl of the dancers looking like a boss. Is was 19 at the time and an American. Also the dance practice for the video as well.

One of them (Jimin) majored in contemporary for 2-3 years in an arts school. He was the top student. He was the one doing the dance solos in between the full choreos they're all really talented though with dancing even though only 3 of them danced before joining the group. I suggest you watch "The Most Beautiful Life Goes on: BTS" by Asian Theory to get a better understanding of the group and their story :) also watch their festa room live if you want a bit of a better understanding of their discography

Oh boy. This is exciting. I love new army lol. I’m Korean. I was at their first show way back in 2013 in Korea. Now I’m in america and went to 2 of their shows at SoFi. I’m hardcore army for life. This is their more artistic side. They also have rap, hip hop, pop, ballads, some rock, and everything in between. They’re all phenomenal dancers, the rappers are the best in the business (not even saying because I’m biased, they’re literally rap gods), even the rappers can sing, some of the singers can rap. They’re so freaking talented. They’re also super humble and hilarious. I recommend watching live performances and their reality shows. The basics of BTS playlist is as follows lol: Rap: Ugh!, Cypher 1-4, Ddaeng, Tear Vocal: The Truth Untold, Crystal Snow, Magic Shop Dance: Blood Sweat and Tears, Fire, Mic Drop, Idol, DNA Group: Spring Day, Pied Piper, Dimple, I Need U Solos: RM Joke, Persona; Jin Moon, Ephiphany, Yours; Suga (AgustD is his rap solo persona) Daechwita (mandatory, you MUST listen), AgustD, The Last; J-Hope Ego, Chicken Noodle Soup, Mama; Jimin Filter, Lie, Serendipity; V Stigma, Singularity, Winter Bear; JungKook Euphoria, My Time, Begin and omg his cover of Harry Styles’ Falling 😍 They have over 300 songs.
