Actually, South Korea uses the International age system. When you are born you are 1 year old. You do not celebrate your birthday added age until Jamuary 1st of each. So actually they are really 1 year younger than you have listed JK was 13 when he signed. Presently the government is trying to change their age system like we have in the United States!!

yes, they were hiphop heavy during their debut days and because of that the rapline had most of the lines or verses, even Jungkook was rapping then. He was casted by BigHit after leaving the auditions for a Korean talent show called Superstar K2 when he was only 13 years old and was a trainee for about 2 years. The other members even went with him during the first day of his highschool and attended his HS graduation as well. :)

No More Dream and many of their early songs are social commentary on the struggles of kids in their generation. Study culture and obsession with success that’s planted at an early age by their elders is the cause of incredibly high depression and suicide rates amongst youths in South Korea. This particular song is more of a call for rebellion. When Joon says, “to all the youngsters without dreams” it’s actually a nod. It’s a call to change the norm, and go for what you want, not the dreams of others. The scenes of them near the bus, skateboarding, bikes all of that- it’s all them saying, we are here, our name is BTS, and we think you don’t have to have that dream, if that dream wasn’t yours to begin with. Follow your own path.

I listen to NMD every day!! It's one of my absolute favorite songs! I'm glad you finally heard it, too! Also Luke, when it comes to BTS you should ALWAYS put captions or watch a lyric video. Their lyrics are so important, especially with songs like 'No More Dream'! They're rebelling against the "norm" and expectations towards the younger generation, that's why Namjoon, in the end says "To all the youngsters without dreams". Another thing with Bangtan, you can't put them under PTD, Dynamite and Butter, those songs only happened cause of the pandemic and they wanted to make songs for us that would make us feel good. That's why they are all in english too. Their roots are Hiphop, though, and they've always experimented and thrown together many different genres. That's why we always say BTS aren't Kpop, BTS' genre is BTS!

Jimin is featured in the thumbnail of BTS' first mv but almost did not make it into BTS. Some people say its because his contemporary dancing doesn't fit with BTS' style - I'd say nah, not this, Jimin is versatile and skilled in street dancing and acrobatics (huge asset) and won the audition based on talents not shortcomings. I have my own theory on Jimin almost being cut. Read on --- the rappers were all recruited around 2010-2011. When the group's concept was changed, many rappers left and BH started looking for vocalists - Jin, JK came on the same day, V soon after. But Jimin was recruited just months before the actual debut date. Long after BH has completed shedding off their stable of trainees. Why? Its totally bizarre right. Well if we put the facts together, it isn't bizarre. Remember that JHope left BTS momentarily before debut. We do not know when or for how long. So I think that after Jhope suddenly left, BigHit scrambled to find a new main dancer hence the fresh audition which saw Jimin being recruited as a trainee. The fact that they have a recruitment so close to debut is telling enough. Back then trainees are trained for some 5-10 years. Nobody wanna debut anyone, what more a main dancer, with less than a year of training unless they are desperate. BH should be desperate. No main dancer. But Jhope came back (I assume after Jimin was recruited). So what to do with Jimin! His place on the team became a ? probably. Jimin's anxiety went up crazily high (this we know from anecdotes). The other members were talking about how he worked the hardest and Jimin has talked about being scared of being cut. One day Bang PD called all the members for solo chats and asked each of them if they want Jimin to debut with them. V revealed this in an interview. They said yes and Jimin was confirmed in the lineup. Probably the most important yes must have come from Jhope who is the dance leader and original main dancer (thank you Jhope!). A peculiar arrangement to be asking members for their opinions but it isn't so peculiar if we consider what is happening. It would explain why BTS has 2 main dancers when one was the norm. Thank you BigHit for believing in Jimin and giving Jimin a chance 🙏.

No More Dream, I love it. From their first song and MV they gave everything. Check the lyrics as it is a criticism of the demands placed on teenagers in Korea, who for many years spend a large part of the day at school and then hours in additional classes or study as preparation for the Suneung exam (it is the access to university and therefore they consider that it determines your future); in addition to that they usually follow the life plan that their parents try to impose on them. Really those who stand out for the amount of time in participation within the song are RM, Suga and Jungkook (who is the main vocalist and therefore rapped in the early days). In international age (in Korea they use another) when debuting the boys were: Jin 20 years old (22), Suga 20 (21), J-Hope 19 (20), RM 18 (20), Jimin 17 (19), V 17 (19) and Jungkook 15 (17).

Yes you're absolutely right, the early songs were very much more focused on the rapline, and it's switched to vocal line focus over time. That's why Run BTS was exciting to me as it was more back to the old format. You might also notice JK used to rap occasionally, and Taehyung sang with a growly rough kind of voice - so glad he's been able to sing with his beautiful full vocals since then!

Back then it was heavy on hip hop so mostly rap based...and they had this dark badass image going on for coupla years. They portrayed the typical "manly" badass boys image, with Jimin showing off his abs and the rappers looking they are about to destroy you. That slowly changed over the years and they completely dropped their dark era and embraced what they truly wanted to convey. We saw less of jimin's abs (sigh!!), rappers trying out their vocal ranges and vocalists testing their limits! It was a collosal shift when they dropped this whole outlook. And with that they knew they had people's heart because they were breaking stereotypes, taking risks and became more sensitive with their lyrics as well (also while being savage where needed!). What we see now of BTS is a whole package of 7 men who aren't afraid of experimenting, showing what's needed in this world and breaking all stereotypical norms!! They truly evolved as that group the world will take note of, and look up to!! ❣️

you did react to Block B before, so i think you can get this... back in 2012/2013, Block B and B.A.P were fairly popular and creating an audience for hiphop groups, so i believe that's what BTS went for. there were not many groups back then with this kind of vibe so i remember i was really excited about BTS debuting because of that, they too opened more doors for new groups! as for ages... To think the kid is about to turn 25 in a few weeks… 🥺 (and yes i say the kid coz i have 10years on him lol) No More Dream is one of my favorite songs from BTS, but i have to say watching the music video or thinking about it always breaks my heart a little coz Jimin had to go through so much to show his abs, and it left him so much baggage as well. Having struggled myself with eating disorders and body image issues when i was a teenager, i can’t help but sympathize with that 17year old kid who did his best to be as perfect as they told him to be, whatever the cost to himself. Are you going by international or Korean ages? Their international ages were Jungkook 15, Jimin 17, V 17, RM- 18, J-Hope- 19, Suga- 20, and Jin- 20. Their Korean ages were Jungkook- 17, V- 19, Jimin, 19, RM 20, J-Hope 20, Suga- 21, and Jin- 22.

@@crystalsnow1138 is right in regards to international age. people are usually looking for chronological age seeing as they look so young, and want confirmation, not korean age. at debut, jk was 15, 3 months shy of his 16th birthday. v and jimin were 17, and would be turning 18 in the fall. rm was 18, turning 19 3 months later, jhope 6 months his senior already 19. suga had turned 20 a couple months prior, jin also 20, but would turn 21 at the end of 2013.

I love baby bad boys BTS, they already kill it ! I often listen to their old albums, when I'm in my car. They grow and mature through their songs, years after years, and it's cristal clear when you listen their discography in chronological order, but they were crazy talented kids since their début.

Yes RM Suga and Jhope usually had the most lines back then since their songs were mostly hiphop (in songs like We On, Paldogangsan, Spine Breaker, 2nd Grade, ect), Jungkook would also have a couple of rap lines since he was good at it. This age of bts is 16(?) Year old Jungkook and 22(???) Year old Jin, hella young. Also, if you haven't already I'm begging you to react to BTS - Run (not Run BTS, the one you already reacted to).

People didn't really like this style of music in korea, as it was talking about them debuting and no longer dreaming of it oh and also talking about the youth in their lyrics. Usually groups or idols first song is about love and are more cuter. But BTS did the opposite they went from Badass to cuter and then Badass again. The age difference is 5 years between Jin and Jungkook. Oh and also Jimin's name was about to be "Baby J" or "Baby G" But he thought against it and went with his last name Also you gotta react to BTS So what and Piped Piper Live!! They debuted as a hip-hop group... The age spread was JK 15, Jimin and V 16, - RM 17, J Hope 18, Suga and Jin 19... This was the first album. By the 2nd album they were singing about girls - sort of... Then they went to problems of growing up. And all sorts of mythology, symbolism and classical referencing. Bang PD kept seeing their potential grow. Yes, they changed a lot. For their solo work, V has said he wants to be a romantic both as V and as Kim Taehyung. JK might try heavy metal? I don't think he'll go all the way in that direction though - he seems to like classic rock. Jimin and Jin seem to like theme songs for romantic TV shows, RM likes the blues. Suga can do anything and wants to try everything. We know J-Hope is upbeat no mater what he does. But Suga said something in an interview at the Grammy museum a few years ago - "The genre is BTS" I think that's just a pure and simple truth. 💜😇💜usa

Not gonna lie this song a still a bagger even today. I listen to this song so much it's actually scary. And yes JK did rap back I'm the day and he can still rap like a beast.
