Carole's album "Tapestry" stayed near the top of the album charts for somewhere around 20 years. Love her songs and her voice.🤘😎❤

What about her music and Gerry Goffin (her husband back then) wrote one of the most recognisable lyrics. The song as good as (‘You make me feel like a) Natural Woman’. It was composed by her and lyrics were written by him to Ms. Aretha Franklin and many, many more ✌🏼

Carole King started out in the industry as a song writer. In the 60's, she and her frequent partner Gerry Goffin co-wrote dozens of hit songs. In the early 70's, she began performing and recording her own songs. Her album "Tapestry" is one of the all-time great singer/song writer albums. She has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as both a performer and song writer. In 2013 a Broadway musical about her life debuted called "Beautiful: The Carole KIng Musical". In 2015 she became a Kennedy Center Honoree (at the ceremony one of the performances was from Aretha Franklin who did "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" which Carole had co-written for her back in 1967. If you haven't seen that incredible performance, please check it out!)

Carole and James were very good friends and he was the main person who convinced her to transition from writer to performer. He had a big hit with her song You've Got A Friend, which she allowed him to release first before she put her own version on Tapestry. He has said in concert, "I remember hearing this song for the first time. It's funny because I don't remember anything from a year before and a year after (he had a serious drug problem back in the day). She was generous enough to give it to me." Then, with his dry sense of humor he added "Of course, I didn't realize then I'd be singing it every night for the rest of my life."

Carole King is a singer, songwriter & musician who started out in 1958. King's major success began in the 60's when she & her first husband Gerry Goffin, wrote more than two dozen chart hits for other artists. Her solo "Tapestry" record is one of the all time biggest selling albums. Lots of great songs such as "Will You Love Me Tomorrow", "It's Too Late", "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman", You've Got A Friend", "I Feel The Earth Move", "Where You Lead" etc.

Most of the songs on Tapestry are by King alone. The book "Girls Like Us" said Goffin was furious with King, thinking that she had hidden her talent as lyricist to save for later. He is quoted by more reliable sources that he was shocked and at times outdid anything he wrote with her.

Carole wrote it, and a heck of a lot more. Such an incredibly nostalgic tune! Carole and James were joined at the hip back then.

James Taylor has his own KZbin channel. Use it and reference and link his channel, he is easy to get along with. He wants to get his music out there. Also, he is a rabbit hole you want to go down.

Carole King was known for her songwriting, and her album Tapestry had some incredible hit songs. I swear every teenage girl in the early 70s had a copy of that album. Even the album cover is iconic for that time, with a picture of Carole sitting barefoot at a big window with her cat. My favorite song of hers is It's Too Late.

Thank you for this reaction - Carole King deserves to have more reactions! ‘Tapestry’ was a seminal album, and you would probably recognise some of the other tracks on it. It takes me back to my youth- the soundtrack to my teenage angst!

She has a great voice. You're right, Angel. I think a lot of us have that someone that's far away. Thank you Angel.

Going to college in the early 70s I remember walking down a dorm hall hearing Carole King or Carly Simon booming from the dorm rooms.

I love your reactions. It’s great to find someone who really enjoys the music. I heard them when they first came out. A lot of memories growing up in Southern California, but had to get out because it’s no longer the same.

Carole King’s “Tapestry” album is considered one of the most inspirational albums of the time, in that dozens and dozens of famous, successful artists from back in the day cite this album as one their inspirations, one of the reasons why they took up the guitar, or started singing, or writing music. The term “singer-songwriter” doesn’t get used very much anymore, because with the advent of sampling, Auto-Tune, and “top-liners”, you don’t need musical talent to succeed in music today. But once upon a time, talent was expected-or you didn’t get in the musical ‘door’. Miss Carole was one of the very best.

King wrote this song solo for her then husband Charlie Larkey-when she toured as Taylor's pianist, he used Leland Sklar. King was often far from her children (with Goffin) and Larkey.

Your reactions are great! Singer Songwriters are the best. Check out Elton John and Billy Joel, if you don't know their work. Elton's "Rocket Man" is amazing. Billy's "Vienna" is a classic too.

Hi Angel! Will you please react to MARTINA MCBRIDE singing CONCRETE ANGEL? Be sure to bring your tissues and play to the very end. There is a meaning of the story at the end that a lot of reactors miss. Thank you very much! Donna
