This is a time when singers sang clear and beautiful with natural talent. You will never hear this type of music and talent ever again. You will only find it in the 20th Century songs.

Don't forget the beautiful voice she has and the fact that she's playing drums while singing.

As a young teen, so long ago, the Carpenters were my favourite music. I would play their records over and over again. So sad how Karen ended so young.

This is a rabbit hole you'll really enjoy! Karen and Richard(on piano) Carpenters' music has stood the test of time. Suggest you react to We've Only Just Begun next. Saw them live in the 70's and didn't know Karen played the drums. She was absolutely amazing!

Loved Karen! Such a sad story. Gone way too soon. She should still be with us to this day. I just want to cry thinking about all the wonderful music she could have made over these years.

There is not a better singer/drummer or drummer than Karen Carpenter. They are brother and sister. The #1 selling american group in the 70's and are still selling strong today. 150 million and growing. Nobody in the history of recorded music had such a smooth voice. Karen could sing the IRS tax form and you would be glad to fill it out. Amazing. All their songs are great. "Close To You" and "Top Of The World" are a couple. Great reaction. Died from anorexia Feb 4 1983 at 32 years old. R.I.P Drummer Girl.

Thought I caught you with a little shiver and rubbing some goosebumps on your first pause. If so, it's okay. Many people experience that when they first hear Karens ANGELIC voice. 50 years later and I still get them. Carpenters gave us some wonderful and timeless MUSIC! Don't know if you noticed but Karen was playing the drums and singing. She was not only an amazing singer, she was also an extraordinary drummer! Check out some of her drum solos. Impressive. Rest in peace beautiful Karen. Forever young!

Karen Carpenter's voice was so rich and full. A vocal coach once stated that she possessed the most "perfect" controlto voices to ever exist.

Such a beautiful song/voice. Many (including myself) hold her as the most beautiful female voice ever. So smooth on the ears. She was well known for singing in. her lower register. She even joked "the money's in the basement." She was called one-take Karen" because she had perfect pitch, rarely if ever hitting a wrong note. And yes she could do that while playing the drums like a boss. Her brother, a piano prodigy, was the other half of "the carpeters>" his piano playing and also high talent for arranging (especially arranging to. make her voice shine it's brightest). Also contributed to their success' unfortunately, her perfectionism extended to her view of her appearance as well, and she developed severe anorexia nervosa, never convinced she was thin enough, even starving herself below 90 lbs (40 kg). The damage her eating disorder did to her body caused her heart to fail at age 33, and her death brought attention to eating disorders for the first time, before then the average person had never heard of eating disorders or anorexia.

The Carpenters were top group in the 1970s. Karen was a top worldwide female vocalists. She wanted to be a drum player and not a singer but her voice just to great. Please react to more of them. Try ""Top of the World? Live at the White House...

I'm such a big fan of the Carpenters. Karen's crispy clear baritone vocals are so soulful. And those harmonies are to die for. Lol They sound like angels from heaven, beautiful stuff, bro. But I'd like to introduce you to another great artist, if interested. "Tom Jones -( It Looks Like) I'll Never Fail In Love Again (The Dusty Springfield Show 5th, Sept. 1967" I really enjoyed your reaction thanks for sharing 💜🎸✌️

Ask me if there is anything you want to know about the Carpenters. They lived in the city right next to me in Downey CA and I'm in Paramount CA. I've been a fan since their first album in 1970.

Wow. You are lucky to have been so close to them. I was aware of the Carpenters in the 70s and 80s and admired them based on my limited, rural, humble upbringing. I occasionally heard them on the radio and on some tv specials. However, I have come to appreciate Karen's voice and Richard's arrangement skills much more in the age of Spotify. Karen's vocals are the best I have ever heard. Unbelievable pitch, tone, emotion, etc. - I am an engineer but I can't explain it in technical terms. Best in class ear candy is what I believe most of the Carpenter's music is. They had a an unbelievable focus on perfection - Richard and Karen both delivered that.
