Luther Vandross covered it later. This was 1970's. We've Only Just Begun is another of their top hits. One of the best female singers ever and her brother Richard was a great composer/arranger/producer. He heard the above song on a bank commercial, called the writers and made it a massive hit of it. In their time they were considered safe, middle of the road, squeaky clean, mom and pop music, but they have stood the test of time.

@@saturnnet1627 See, I don't hold that against her. I actually love the nasal quality in Babs, as well as a young Stevie Nicks, and Yvonne Elliman--both of whom were even more nasally than Barbra. Having said that, I don't hold it against Karen for not having a nasal sound. Since I've mentioned four, I may as well round out my Top 5 with Olivia Newton-John. Honorable mention goes to Tori Amos.

Beautiful reaction Leo. Karen was such a beautiful, kind Soul and had such an angelic voice. She died of complications from Anorexia Nervosa. I was in the hospital struggling with Anorexia myself when she passed. I was a young adolescent at the time and it hit me hard. They made me watch the news of her death on TV the night she died, it broke my heart. I wish she'd won her battle with the disease, she had so much beauty in her Soul. Normally I don't listen to the Carpenters anymore and will always turn it off because of the bad memories, but this time I watched.... and I'm glad I did! It was a beautiful reaction and warmed my heart. Nice to see you can appreciate music like this..... goes to show you have a beautiful soul too Leo. Thanks for this one! It's rare for a woman who has a deeper tone to become a frontman and not harmony. She was just that good. I have to admit 70's music is not my forte', although I can usually pick them out because of the flutes, electric keyboards (pre-synths) and horns, which are a rarity from the 80's on. Kind of a shame, really. Of course, it depends on the genre, too. 🤔😊

She was an amazing singer. So sad she passed away. RIP Karen you are missed. Your voice was so sweet and settled & beautiful. The guy in the back singing is her brother.
