Christopher Cross is the rarest of performers. His debut was so successful there was no way he could ever live up to it. He possesses one of the most unique, recognizable voices that his original short lived success (at the very top) still lives on today. Jayy, your observance about it being a "goodbye song" is very perceptive, never thought of it that way, but I get your vibe :)

I listened to this song a lot when I stayed in a shelter for a month and had a major freak out because of the violence, abuse, and neglect, I had had happen from when a toddler and into after was grown. I had repressed memories of a lot of it and so when I started remembering it it was so extremely frightening and the fear of 'alone' extreme. There were panic attacks which were also frightening. Thank goodness that time is long gone. This song was soothing while I was in the shelter.

I swear, this song , and “Southern Cross” by Crosby stills and Nash, are the two songs I would recommend anyone listen to who wonder swhat it’s like to sail on the ocean. I have been blessed to be able to sail from Gulfport, Mississippi and Gulf Shores, Alabama to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands and Belize. My God. Imagine…a nighttime quietness broken only by the sound of waves all around your, lying on your back, feeling the rock of the waves as you look up at a night sky that fills your vision endlessly and that is so full of stars you wonder how you could possibly have never seen this before. It is peace. It is tranquility. It is a calmness of mind and spirit that cannot be replicated by any other experience. It is a feeling of connection to everything and a feeling of individual wonder simultaneously. I honestly don’t have the words to adequately describe an experience that you will never forget, that will change you, uplift your soul and make you one with the vastness of the night sky while reminding you that you are simply an observant, small, single consciousness…if you ever have the chance, go. Do it. It will change you forever. And whatever stressors or worries you have…they will be made insignificant. For the rest of your life.

You really let the music in, which is enjoyable to see! Your comment about the song being perfect for a funeral is very apt. It's a perfect "send-off." And it would be, because I've never heard anything like it in pop circles. It just paints a portrait in your mind of being out on calm seas, as per its title. Imagine passing over to the other side, gently floating above a calm sea stretching forever, as you approach the bright, but not blinding sun rising over the horizon. Not saying that's how it will be. It's just that this song is so affective, it's like a musical sedative. Cross is a master of gorgeous arrangements, slow or fast. I just found you today, so I don't know if you've ever heard "Ride Like the Wind." Another gem on his 5-Grammy eponymous debut album. If you ever get the urge to do another of his, it's another gorgeous, thick arrangement. Enjoyed watching you!

Christopher Cross Shock the World by winning like four or five Grammys that year that this album came out if you research the rest of the artists were just blown away because they thought they were going to win but this album just destroyed everyone because there was so many hits on it including the theme song for movie Arthur. Btw love your little Bobby ponytails above your head so cute!. Too bad you weren't near Toronto Canada I'd love to take you out for a nice hearty meal my love..... If you look at my picture behind me that's Google Ontario. Before working at Google I was the lead singer of a band for over 25 years play it every damn freaking s*** hole of the Tri-Cities. It just wasn't a good feasible way to make a living although it was fun for a Time. I'm just listening to you talk and I'm from Canada and it's like you would be talking a totally different American language if we were ever to talk play I don't know how to explain it it's like black American gangster or something... I'm trying to picture talking to a girl like that on a date and it would just be hilarious, wouldn't you agree?

OMG !!!! This brings back so many memories of my childhood... My Mom turned me on to this. She would be doing things around the house and had this HUGE entertainment BOX. This box was perty amazing actually, it looked like a wooded box approximately 3-4 foot tall and a lil bit wider and made of wood. You would have to open the lid to reveal what was inside and what’s it’s purpose was, a hidden gem. It had everything, for the times. It played records, both sizes, 8 Track player, and the Radio. That’s what ya saw when ya opened the lid, no room to store anything. All this stuff sat at the top of the box. Underneath all that was the speakers, which ya could see, I guess that’s why it was so big and looked like furniture. It was really loud and when Mom played it, She RoCkEd the house. My favorite was when she just let the radio play. I can’t remember the radio stations call letters, But I do remember waiting for the weekend to hear Casey Cassum’s (spelling is wrong I’m sure, but that’s what it sounds like) ionic Top 40 Count Down. Omg... I would get so excited to hear it. This is one of those songs I would hear and is probably one of those songs that made me fall in LOVE with Music. Your Killing me Gurl... Wow... Thank You for the flash back... This is one of those songs that regardless of what Genre of music is your Go Too, This song transcends across the board. I have found that great music does that and the fact of your interpretation of it lets me know I was right and so was everyone involved with helping Chris make his music.

Reminds me of my neighbors best friend lived in so cal. I was from No Cal and visited her. She was a brunette beauty and horse lover and cowgirl in Orange County or so. She made the mistake of asking me if I want to go to the horse show or other. I said lets go to Dana Point and rent a 25-30 foot sail boat and go sailing. I never sailed such a large boat on the ocean before growing up on a lake in MA. She even went top less and the seas was around four feet and wind around 15 knots. I had the time of my life... After she was mad I didn't go to the horse rally and took me to the Orange County airport to fly back to San Jose. Too bad she was so hot and told her friend I had attributes of a horse. ha
