Loved Cyndi Lauper's quirky style & she is a really good singer songwriter. She has had a lot of hits especially in the 80's such as "Girls Just Want To Have Fun", "Time After Time", "She Bop", "All Through The Night", "True Colors", "Change Of Heart", "I Drove All Night" etc.

She was a no BS trend setter during the 80’s who spawned a whole fashion trend. She also drew off of early pro wrestling for some of her (flavor). The cook in the cafe scene of this video also plays her dad in the video (Girls Just Wanna Have Fun) & he was a pro wrestler at the time (Captain Lou Albano). Truly one of the wild men of early pro wrestling.

The movie she’s watching in the beginning is called The Garden of Allah. Cyndi was definitely a trendsetter in the 80’s! She is still around and still an original. You’ve probably seen her on TV lately, she is in one of those eczema medicine commercials. Great reaction and a good song to start with for her! I say go full force into Cyndi’s unique style and do She Bop next. Her biggest hit was probably Girls Just Want To Have Fun which would take her 3 for 3 with you. If you ever saw The Goonies she also had a song on the soundtrack of that movie. 😁

Cyndi Lauper has one of the most underrated voices in pop music. She has an incredible 4 octave range but sadly used little of it until performances in her later years. Early in her career she severely damaged her vocal cords singing rock and roll and only recovered after years with a vocal coach (she was told she would not sing again and suffered from significant depression). She also suffers from severe psoriasis which she finally controlled through diet (it's triggered in her by alcohol and spicy foods) and medication for which she is a strong advocate and a spokesperson for the medication on TV.

Cyndi still lets her uniqueness shine through. Still colors her hair, still singing. She sang the theme song for the movie "The Goonies" and has acted on tv shows several times as a recurring character. Her New York accent mixed with her hair and the fact of how small she is, she steals the show every time. Through her look, she encouraged people to express themselves through hair and clothing and to allow the uniqueness of themselves shine through. "True Colors" is another slower song from her but is you want a bop, go for "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" She is an icon of the 80s.

I just ran across this reaction of yours. Cyndi had a big association with relatives and pro wrestling back then in her videos. Her real life mother and brother appear in the video. Her then boyfriend Dave Wolfe is the man sleeping all of the time in the bed. He was also portrayed as being involved with pro wrestling bavk then. The cook at the dinner is Capt.Lou Albano a msnager of wrestlers at the time.

Grew up listening to Cyndi, "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" was my favorite. Got a variety of things to suggest, as I'm all over the board when it comes to listening to music. I'm a metalhead/rock first, so if you like performance and music, check out Alice Cooper, specifically either "Welcome to My Nightmare", "The Black Widow", and "(Be My) Frankenstein." I noticed you've heard Pentatonix, but may I suggest their cover of Imagine Dragons "Radioactive" with Lindsey Sterling. Also, check out some of Lindsey Sterling's songs/covers, she is amazing. Not sure if you've tried some international, but The HU, "Yuve Yuve Yu" and "Wolf Totem" (they do have a version with Jacoby Shaddix), and they have another ft Lzzy Hale called "Song of Women." Also, as far as women in rock, Halestorm is good, so is This Moment (however much cursing, not sure if that flows with your channel, suggest perhaps Ms Secretary listen and decide?). Oh, another international: Rammstein and Skald. Enjoying so much.

Since you seem to be interested in 80s era music and you liked Lauper's sound, try looking up "Vixen" and "Heart", two 1980s bands. Something obscure to try to find is a band that performed for a single year at Disneyland in 1981 called "Halyx". Their only recordings were done by audience members so it's doubtful you'll find anything hi-def, or even video. If you want someone modern but who also sings stuff from that era, try 'Dan Vasc'. tldr: Heart Vixen Halyx Dan Vasc

Oof, this hits hard to watch right now. In Cyndi's first few videos, there would be 3 main costars- in this video, the boyfriend was her actual manager/boyfriend at the time. The cook in the background was Captain Lou Albano, the famous 80s wrestler , and her actual mom. Her mom just passed away in the last month or so, so yeah, it hit in the feels. I don't know how you run your channel, but there is so much more to Cyndi and her voice than people know. She's one award away from being in the prestige EGOT club, has produced her own videos, as well as written most of her own songs, and her vocsl range is beyond belief. My 47 year old daughter still does weird things with her hair. I always think of Ms. Lauper when she does her hair. One of the reactors I've gotten to check out Poets of the Fall has decided after hearing 3 songs that he likes them SO MUCH that he will go and see them live this year.
