Many country stars of today are simply following the blueprint Shania showed them. Shania’s blueprint. She and Garth Brooks both did that for their respective genders in the 90's. It's interesting how they each impacted other artists and the genre as a whole when they were both on top. I think the two of them dominating around the same time as each other is what really put new blood into country, and turned it on it's head. Lol

A few people have mentioned Robert Palmer’s addicted to love music vid. His came out first, and Shania intentionally flipped the gender roles in hers. She was calling out the sexist double standard in the music industry that used women only as sexual objects. Winona Judd did an interview where she admitted she cried when she first saw that vid. Up until that point she’d been the top female country artist and she felt that after having a baby she couldn’t compete with someone younger and thinner like Shania. Ultimately she realized that the industry was trying to pit them against each other and they’re good friends now. Made me super happy to see women supporting and uplifting each other.

She's the queen of country pop the top selling female artist of all times and the biggest crossover artist she paved the way for so many and she is just as amazing live true pure talent and an amazing songwriter U definitely should dive down the Shania rabbit hole and research the unbelievable things she's gone thru in her life from an abusive poverty ridden childhood to her parents dying and she had to raise her siblings for a few years til they were adults to her husband who was her cowriter and producer cheating on her with her best friend to her almost completely losing her voice due to contracting Lyme's disease she had 2 surgeries and alot of vocal therapy to regain it and it's slightly different now and she has to warm up alot longer before being able to perform but she found a way back to it after thinking she'd never get it back, she also found a 2nd husband who was younger better looking and a much better man than her ex-husband, she also has videos on here if live duets with Elton John, Back Street Boys and others, and a there's a video showing her making the video for a duet with Lionel Richie for an album of his many years ago he helped her get her confidence back as a singer because he's so generous of a person but also had gone thru something similar almost losing his voice many many many years ago and so he understood more than anyone what she was going thru

So AB, I have a feeling you’re about to get ahead of yourself when it comes to country music. To understand the new, you have to start with the old. Many newer country songs mention Hank Williams, George Jones, Johnny Cash. Hank is OLD OLD country. His son Hank Jr is also legendary. George Jones did Tennessee whiskey a million years ago. Nothing like Stapletons version. George was notoriously drunk and forgot to show up for concerts. They called him No Show Jones. And Johnny Cash , the man in black, also a legend. Check them out.
