They said that it even means so much more in korean- you know how sometimes a lot gets lost in translation? it's true. Also this song resonates so much for those in the kpop industry as he speaks about the hardship of trying to be everything, all at once and trying to be perfect in all of them.- The years ofntraining, the negativity on social media, the expectations and the incredible pressure from the company. It resonates so much to everyone and that's what makes this song really special. Now for me the experience of hearing this song for the first time. I was a new fan, just around the time Love Shot came out. I discovered EXO and kpop thru Kyungsoo after watching his tv drama 100 days my prince. It was an amazing time because he was at the peak of promotion for Tempo, Love Shot, 100 DMP the tv series, Swing Kids his movie and later Underdog, an animated movie- he voiced over the protagonist dog. I was happy and thrilled being an new fan and all because there's so much stuff! Then suddenly, he disappeared from sight after all the promotions after saying in interviews that he is looking forward to a lot of activities within the year, he was suddenly not included in any EXO activities and was excluded in THe Obssession album though, I could be wrong but with the timeline, he could have very well have been included. (DEFINITELY not the members fault nor choice.) . Then news came out that he's leaving the SM company which SM refuted in a few minutes. Not long after, news broke that he's enlisting in the army. He still has two years to do so. He has to write a letter to the fans saying he wishes he was the one that broke the news instead, but confirmed that he is about to go to the army. The devastation and shock across the fandom was immediate. Unlike other idols who come out with an album, host a fan event, make a live post, or just come out with one activity on top of the other before enlisting for 2 years, Kyungsoo was just simply, gone. For months, nothing. The last time he came out with exo was the fan event Xiumin hosted before Xiumin entered the army and that was before the announcement of his own enlistment. The next thing we knew it was July 1 and social media was flooded with pictures of EXO with Kyungsoo, once again in a buzzcut entering the army. At 6 pm of that day, this song dropped without english subs but everyone started crying. Fanmade videos came out with the English subs immediately and I just can't stop crying since the enlistment pictures came out, and started sobbing on the way home as I watched the lyric video. The official video was animated, not even a glimpse of his face but his words on the song was just... heartbreaking and comforting at the same time? Until,now I cant listen to this song and not remember how it was that fateful July 1, 2019. I still get a little pinch in the heart. Am sorry this turned into an essay!! Just want you to know how much this song means to me personally- tho u didn't ask! hehe- Pls do react to Tell Me What Is Love- lyric, color-coded version and the shortened live performances. The station MV was nice but such a waste for not featuring the whole song because the best parts were near the end. Sorry this is too long, ill shut up now.

D.O. wrote the lyrics of this song himself and released this song as a present to his fans before his enlistment. It’s released 3yrs ago and it’s still such a very great and comfort song until today

D.O. is an actual angel! Not only did he make this song for us, if you watch interviews, or EXO's Travel the World on a Ladder (or anything else really) he's always there to make sure everyone is taken care of, and that messes are cleaned. He's lovely!

I believe you haven't heard Tell Me What is Love? It's a collaboration he did with his vocal coach You Youngjin, the producer/vocal coach who wrote a ton of legendary songs sung by SM artists. The full song is over 4 minutes long and the music video on SMTOWN's channel is a truncated version, so I'd recommend checking out a lyrics video. There are two live performances, one was during EXO's first tour, and the other was at the 2014 MAMA. Unfortunately both were also not the full version, but just so you know they exist.

Thanks for this tearful yet sweet reaction (tearful I mean us 😂) D.O. is THAT idol. He and the rest of EXO know how to pull heart strings, speak to our soul and give comfort, always thinking of us 🧡🧡🧡 As I mentioned in the live, he wrote this song specifically for us, so that when he was in the military and we miss him, we could listen to his voice and know IT'S OK. It's rare to find these kinds of idols who take their time to dedicate songs to their fans as deep as this that it even gets to other idols. 12:13 It's funny because the fact that he makes it look so effortless, he is often accused of lip-synching. This is a beautiful song , but my ultimate favorite is Crying Out a OTS from the movie Cart. D O sang and he also was one of cast members in the movie. Makes me cry all the time , especially when listening and watching the scene in movie where the song comes out. You can literally feel their pain and sorrow .🥺🥲
