David Bowie challenged MTV in its early days for not playing Black artists. He had a way of just calling it like he saw it. Marched to his own beat and that was part of his appeal. Gave others courage to live their own truths. RIP.

He sure did. The video where he called them on it in a televised interview is still out there and he was brilliant. There’s racism everywhere but the older English rock stars saw it when they came here, in the ‘60s-80s and some of them spoke out against it. David was one of them who did it in a very public platform. Love that man.

Goot Lort, the David Bowie rabbit hole is deep and has many tunnels. "Space Oddity" followed by "Ashes To Ashes" "Ziggy Stardust" "Changes" "Young Americans" "Heroes." Let me say this. I'm British and I'm 62 years old. In 1977 when I was 19, I first listened to this and other tracks like Sound and Vision. I said then that this was music that belonged to the future, and I still say it now when I hear Sound and Vision. It's great that you lads think the same as we did in the 70s. Our 44 year-old music then was made in the 1930's.

I highly recommend David Bowie’s version of “Wild Is The Wind”. It was originally recorded by Johnny Mathis (who you may have listened to around Christmas) in 1957, and then in 1966 it was a hit for Nina Simone. Bowie covered it as a tribute to Simone in 1976. The video is black and white and jazzy and is so amazing. 💜💜💜
