As cool and darkly mysterious as 80s power rock gets. Easily my favorite Deep Purple song so far!! Thanks for watching! 🥰

… Rock music is explained like this: There's a lead guitar, an organ, a bass, a singer, a drummer... and there's DEEP PURPLE!! … There is nothing more to say! 🎸🎹🥁🎤 Thank you

It was nice to hear this again! It is a good solid track. One from their classic years I think you would really enjoy is Woman From Tokyo (1973). That was from the last album this line up played in together until this reunion eleven years later. 💥

Parts of the melodic line remind me of Rainbow’s Stargazer., which I guess should not be surprising considering Blackmore was around for both. Never heard this track before and it’s now my favorite Deep Purple song! Dang, Ian Paice does fantastic job on the drums here!

@@retroreactions....hard rock group founded by Blackmore I think. Cozy Powell was the power drummer. Vocalist was Dio, one of the best in rock. Died way too young. They had co stant turnover in personnel and after Dio died……Never became huge. I discovered them only a few years back. Also used allot of fantasy themes. But Dio, Blackmore and Powell was a powerful combination.

Just saw this video. Love the Arabic feel and syncopated beat. I always think about being in a dark mythical forest and meeting someone I'm not sure if I should trust or not. You, sir, are amazing!

Nice to hear Deep Purple. Perfect Strangers was the first tour of Deep Purple’s that I saw (2x). This is a great album, as is “House of Blue Light”. I was so happy when I got to see the Mark II lineup. Tonight’s concert that I attended was Yngwie Malmsteen (a Swedish neoclassical guitarist) and Glenn Hughes, who was Deep Purple’s bassist for their Mark III and Mark IV lineups in the ‘70s. Their album “Burn” is celebrating its 50th anniversary and Glenn played several tracks from it as well as many from the three albums he was on. He did play “Highway Star” to close his main set before the encore. I didn’t get “Smoke On The Water” this time, as I did the first time I saw him back in 2019. There’s a lot of Deep Purple for you to explore. A real funky song from them is “Gettin’ Tighter” from the Come Taste The Band album. This was their last release in the 70s until they released Perfect Strangers in the 80s.

@@retroreactions.... 👍Glad you liked it. That whole album is pretty good. The video for the song "The Surprising" is especially cool to us older dudes. There are references to every one of there albums going back to the 60's. Some of them are hard to spot! Albums references: - 0:42 Mandrake Root/Shades of Deep Purple - 0:46 The Book Of Taliesyn - 1:13 In Rock - 1:24 Fireball (It also makes reference as it's Gillan who's looking at it because he stated that it's his favorite album) - 1:33 Made In Japan - 1:37 Smoke On The Water/Machine Head - 1:48 Who Do We Think We Are - 2:07 Burn - 2:52 Stormbringer (I got goosebumps here lol) - 3:25 Come Taste The Band - 3:36 Perfect Strangers/The Battle Rages On - 3:59 I don't have a clue of who's this girl. (EDIT: She's Anya, the Spirit of Freedom. Clearly a reference about Blackmore's departure) - 4:31 The House Of Blue Light - 4:37 Slaves & Masters - 4:58 Purpendicular - 5:01 Abandon - 5:07 Bananas - 5:09 Rapture of the Deep - 5:19 Now What?! - 5:50 inFinite

Richtie once again took a step back and integrated himself brilliantly into the band, so that a fantastic song came out, actually the whole album, one of the best of its genre of the 80s. In my opinion, the unique rock voice and Robert Plant should have been produced a little warmer, so that his voice color gets more expression. PS the majority of the 80s hard rockers mentioned are too military, monotonous and unimaginative, looking for record riffs, without creativity, passion and soul.✌

I wondered if Ronnie James Dio has ever sung this one . Cause this is a track what comes out live way better than on the record . There is one with the final performance with John Lord on keyboard . It’s so good .

A bit newer Depp Purple, but newer..not really, In1984, eight years after the Mark IV breakup they re-unioned with the "classic" Mark II line-up of 1969-1973: Jon Lord, Ian Paice, Ritchie Blackmore, Ian Gillan and Roger Glove. And was it good, well yes, but I did only listen in me on the Perfect Stranger album, their second album in this 5year reunion "The House of Blue Light" is for me still unknown... 🙂

Interesting that Blackmore says this is his favourite Deep Purple song! It's also mine! 😁 Admittedly, I'm not a _massive_ fan of the band, though; I like them because of their great drummer Ian Paice, first and foremost 😊
