Devy is a unique and phenomenal artist with a mammoth vocal range! And Che Amy Dorval ( secondary vocals...too damn good to call her a "backing" vocalist)l is ridiculously awesome too. You have to check out Casualties of Cool .... Devin and Che Amy.... Genius!

it's one of the cases where I wish you'd reacted to the music video. there's so much going on with these walls of sounds and clashes of style, I think cleaner studio sound could really help out. Also, the music video is great silly fun.

@ThomasTallant Samus wasn't the drummer for Heaven Send, but I'd did hear a couple misses for Morgan, which is very surprising considering his past with Fredrick Thorendal, could have been an off night

Dev writes to the music a fair bit, I suspect this is one of those times as this was conceived, musically at least, as a little teaser of every part of Empath before he released the album, hence it being so eclectic. It's a shame they don't include Castaway in this as that is a beautiful start to this insanity. He writes the music then fits syllables to pitches and grooves, the lyrics don't always make direct sense but they fit the music beautifully. He does crowbar in very meaningful stuff here and there, Spirits Will Collide for instance (and the live version from this show is absolutely stunning, I cant listen to it without tearing up) is about being good to yourself and that has some fantastic lines in it. This is one of my favourite performances though, his shows tend to have a lot of backing tracks because he uses hundreds of layers to create the infamous Wall of Sound, with Order of Magnitude he wanted to have the whole thing played on stage which is why there are so many people there.

I always cry at "Spirits" live, and yeah for sure it's an intro song, as much as the huge 20+ min masterpiece at the end encompasses all the tracks before it.

@@ThomasTallant it's such a beautiful version of that song. Slowing it down and bringing the choir in to take some of the verses makes the whole thing just ache...it'a stunning. Lol yeah Singularity is phenomenal, have you seen Anup Sastry doing his drum parts to the finale? That's well worth checking out if you havent.
