My dad is in his 70's and doesn't care much for rock. Over the years I've tried playing lots of stuff for him, but all I ever get is a tepid, "That's nice." Not so with Devin. I played THIS song for him and next thing I knew, we were listening to the entire album, with him in rapt attention. I've never been so mind-blown.

Oh my god I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this comment.... I was a late child, my parents were around 40 when I was born... and I kind of regret not being able to try to share things like this.... they never understood ACDC or Metallica, but Devin's voice is undeniable.

Devin is an absolute legend in the metal world. He's released almost 20 albums under various projects with himself being the main creative force behind everything. This song was the album opener from his last album. Kinda all over the place as a sort of preview of everything to come in the album. Check out Kingdom from EMGTV or Deadhead from Royal Albert Hall. And yeah, that's his voice. He's up there with Floor from Nightwish and Tatiana from Jinjer in terms of talent and versatility. He can sing pretty much any style he wants.

We are rarely are gifted with people who have truly carved their own way through the annals of music history. Devin is one of them. I'm convinced conservatories hundreds of years of from now will be studying his compositions.

Devin Townsend and Tatiana Shmayluk (from JINJER) are the best vocalist in metal imo. Devin is the best composer of our generation. He's an absolute genius. You should check out his live performances, because that's the best way to experience Devin. "Kingdom" and "Deadhead" are great choices to start with.

Not the first Devin song I'd recommend anyone listen to, but glad you enjoyed it. That was him singing, yes. This song and album are super complex and the result of Devin doing what he wanted to do with no constraints. It's awesome that you were able to appreciate it given how complex it was even for Devin. Even some long time fans struggled with this album. Devin is my favorite artist by far. The guy is incredible and a musical genius. He has over 20 studio albums between solo work and stuff he's done with various bands over the years and they span all kinds of genres from metal to rock, ambient, blues, and everything between. Please do more of his music. I highly recommend the songs "Kingdom", "Deadhead" (the live version), and "Grace".

Among my favorite musicians. He is the writer, musician and producer famous for his Wall of Sound, over the top layering of the parts of the music. His live performances are so over the top. P.S. he also has the most ridiculously powerful voices in all rock music. His Spirits Collide, Kingdom (please NOT EMG), Grace, and Storm Bending (live at Plovdiv with a full orchestra and Choir) will blow your socks off. Permanent Stank Face!
